The Capricorn Private Wealth Baroque Festival aims to gather young local musicians alongside a complete orchestra for two exclusive concerts this weekend.
The concerts are scheduled for Saturday, April 12th, and Sunday, April 13th, at the Reformed Church situated on 3 Luther Street in Windhoek, starting at 7:00 PM each day. This event seeks to showcase and honor the growing pool of musical prowess emerging from Namibia.
The NNSO’s two-day event, backed by Capricorn Private Wealth, aims to ignite enthusiasm and excitement for live performances. During this gathering, aspiring young artists have the opportunity to display their skills and bolster their drive to hone and refine their abilities.
The concert will be led by Nezih Seckin from Turkey, marking his debut with the Namibian National Symphony Orchestra. In preparation for this performance, the artists engage in practicing their music and conducting rehearsals. He aims to create a cohesive ensemble image using all the musicians during these rehearsal sessions.
Irmgard Rannersmann, a board member of the NNSO, mentioned that this event follows a concert format which has been utilized for numerous years and exhibits remarkable growth.
"The rapid advancement is astounding. Meanwhile, several former soloists are now performing regularly with the orchestra. This year’s lineup includes the 'Concerto Grosso' by a South African composer, a piece that has never before been presented in Namibia. Additionally, selections from ‘Beatles Meet Baroque’ promise to add delightful twists to enrich the concert," she stated.
The festival will feature 10 exceptional young soloists. Joining them will be two adult performers, Jürgen Kriess and Deborah Haindongo, who will present the Concerto Grosso Soli. A thirty-member orchestra of musicians will bring lively and remarkable melodies to fill the space.
Festival tickets can be purchased from webtickets.com.na as well as Pick'nPay stores. The price for both adult and children's tickets is set at N$220.00, whereas student and senior citizen tickets are priced at N$140.00 each.
