
Representative Alonzo Knox has put forth House Bill 402, designed to offer extra tax breaks to elderly residents and disabled veterans in Louisiana.
The proposed legislation includes an extra $12,500 state income tax deduction aimed at individuals who are 65 years old and above as well as veterans with certain disabilities.

"Given these unpredictable economic conditions, I believe our state should take initiative to support those who are most at risk, particularly our senior citizens who dedicated their lives to work and our veterans who have defended our nation," Knox stated.
“If we managed to implement this for the richest individuals in Louisiana and for large corporations and businesses, then surely we should be able to extend support to those who are most susceptible and whom we value greatly within our community,” he stated.
The legislative session starts on April 14 and has to conclude by June 12.
