On the 2nd, Close Your Eyes launched their debut mini-album 'Eternality' with a showcase at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, signaling their entry into the music industry.
Close Your Eyes is a band created via the JTBC selection process called Project 7. Their team name encompasses both performance aspects and the idea of delivering compelling music when one listens with their eyes shut. It also signifies growing stronger as an idol who comes to mind every time someone closes their eyes.
Kenshin expressed his joy saying, "It’s wonderful to achieve this long-held dream of making my debut today. I am eager to present our act to numerous fans," whereas Hong Seung-ho stated, "`After much anticipation, I have finally debuted. You will witness an outstanding performance from us.'"
Jeon Min-wook stated, “I put in a tremendous amount of effort for my debut. Although I didn’t manage to take a break before achieving it, I feel both nervous and exhilarated knowing that this day has come at last. Given how eagerly our fans chose and awaited us, we aim to bring them immense joy,” added Ma Jingxiang. He continued, “Thanks to your love and support, we have finally made our debut. In the days ahead, we promise to deliver even more impressive performances.”
Kim Sung-min stated, “I appreciate our fans who consistently support us. Our aim is to grow as a group.” Jang Yeo-jun added, “After preparing through extensive practice towards my dream of making my debut, this day has arrived at last. There’s an equal mix of anticipation and concern within me. However, we’re committed to fulfilling fan expectations,” Seo Kyung-bae mentioned. He continued, “The prospect of achieving such honor during our debut fills me with joy. Together, we’ll evolve into an even stronger team.”

There’s great anticipation regarding their musical output and performances, which promise to make waves in the industry thanks to their commanding presence and robust talents. Above all, people are eager to know more about this artist's journey over the past three months since the conclusion of the show in December until now.
Jang Yeo-jun came together as a group through a survival competition, which means we had supporters eagerly awaiting our first performance. I was eager to finally face those fans. However, I also felt the importance of being fully ready, thus I dedicated myself to preparing diligently every single day leading up to our debut.
Primarily, every member’s distinctive experiences draw focus. After BAE173, Jeon Min-wook made his comeback and mentioned, "His relaunch carries numerous feelings, yet since his initial debut, he found encouragement through fan support. He has been working diligently with the aim of becoming an excellent vocalist capable of reciprocating the affection bestowed upon him. There isn’t really much difference due to this being a re-launch; instead, they’re striving to please their supporters."
Even though Ma Jingxiang didn’t make his debut with Mnet’s “Boyz Planet” despite participating under the name Close Your Eyes, he still garnered numerous supporters. He aimed for a larger platform to pursue his dreams. Eventually, he made his debut via ‘Project 7’ and expressed deep gratitude towards both his long-time followers and those who newly joined him. His statement conveyed a sense of profound emotion.
The title of the debut album 'Eternality' merges 'ETERNAL,' signifying something perpetual, with 'T.' This letter encapsulates the group’s wish to share an everlasting connection with their audience.
The lead single titled 'All Poems and Novels Within Me' embodies the nostalgic R&B vibe from the 2000s era. With evocative verses, this track captures the sentiments of an inspiring companion. The composition offers a peculiar juxtaposition between its sophisticated ambiance and the heartfelt yet imperfect expressions of affection found in lines like those in "Close Your Eyes," penned by a young man whose romantic writings lack polish but resonate deeply.
Specifically, member Jeon Min-wook contributed to the composition of the rap, lending genuine flair to the track. Jeon Min-wook commented, "Being part of the lead single from my debut album was truly an honor. Given that the song has poetic qualities and employs sophisticated wordplay, I aimed to highlight these aspects through my contribution. Although I felt there was room for improvement, the producers I collaborated with were appreciative, which made me quite content."
Since it's a song with a slow tempo, anticipation builds during the live performance. Jang Yeo-jun emphasized narrative over sword dancing. The track conveys personal feelings. A dance move in the refrain involves grabbing at clothing. This is crucial to the overall impact."
Lee Hae-in, renowned for her work on "Kiss of Life," has made waves with her broader involvement in production, drawing significant interest. Given her background from the survival shows "Idol School" and "Produce 101," one might wonder about the guidance she could have offered to "Close Your Eyes," another show centered around auditions.
Jang Yeo-jun mentioned, “When we found out that we would have the chance to collaborate with the producer post-finale, all of us were excited. The producer offered me the platform to be part of the album. According to him, this project encapsulates an intriguing allure linking youth and maturity. We engaged in numerous talks with the producer and deliberated extensively,” he explained.
Regarding the show I'd like to join, Jang Yeojun mentioned: "'The Members checked numerous programs and expressed their desire to feature on 'Knowing Bros.' Additionally, I'm keen on appearing on 'Running Man' since I enjoy our current projects. He stated, ‘Although Seong-min didn’t intend this, his unintentional humor tends to work well, which suggests he might excel at light-hearted variety shows.’"
At around the same period, numerous 'Fifth Generation Boy Groups' emerged sequentially, highlighting the appeal of Close Your Eyes. Jeon Min-wook commented, “If we consider what sets us apart as being distinct from others, then firmly establishing our identity allows us to fully embrace who we are. Instead of focusing on artificiality, my aim is to remain true to nature. In terms of music too, the emphasis should be on producing melodies that resonate well with listeners. Our uniqueness lies precisely in this authenticity.”
Jeon Min-wook stated, "Certainly, I have great admiration for many elders, yet instead of picking only one group as an idol, I believe we have a strong sense of identity. Therefore, my aim is to accomplish significant achievements and make a substantial impact on numerous individuals." He further commented.
Jeon Min-wook mentioned a particular idea called the 'literature boy.' He shared, “Initially, I found it strange upon receiving the demo. However, after repeatedly listening to the track and reflecting on the lyrics, I managed to get comfortable with it. While going through the book, I couldn’t help but think, ‘These phrases are truly excellent; such expressions exist,’ ” he added with a grin.
He shared his objectives for this debut venture as well. Kim Sung-min stated, “My aim is to make sure everyone recognizes our distinct appeal compared to traditional K-pop groups.” On the other hand, Jang Yeo-jun expressed, “Although I pondered over which descriptor might suit me best, my ultimate wish is to be seen with anticipation towards the future. If we can look ahead together, then both our supporters and colleagues will stand beside us. My aspiration is to become such an artist,” he concluded.
In conclusion, Seo Kyung-bae stated, "I wish someone would whisper in my ear throughout the day and also appear in my dreams." Meanwhile, Jeon Min-wook declared, "Our target is set on winning both the Rookie of the Year title and securing the top spot.
