(Corrects PS5 euro price in paragraph 2)

TOKYO (Diwida >) - Sony announced plans to increase the price of its PlayStation 5 console in European markets, as well as in Britain, Australia, and New Zealand, due to rising inflation and volatile currency exchanges.

The Japanese tech and entertainment giant is increasing the price of a PlayStation 5 console without a disk drive by 11%, upping it to €499.99 ($569.59) starting April 14th.

The cost of the identical item will increase by 10% in Britain to £429.99 ($566.90).

Electronics manufacturers are encountering challenges such as disrupted trade due to the tariffs implemented under U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration.

Earlier this month, Nintendo announced that it would be postponing the commencement of pre-orders for the Switch 2 gaming console in the U.S., as they assess the possible effects of tariffs.

The Switch 2 is set to release on June 5.
