The renowned U.S.-based TIME magazine has released its yearly compilation of 100 noteworthy individuals and entities. top destinations for 2025 worldwide including the Matca Hotel in Romania’s Brașov County.

Matca Hotel, which opened in January 2024, is a Relais & Châteaux boutique establishment offering 16 distinctive rooms and two private villas. Each space is adorned with custom-made features that capture the essence of the locality.

Drawing inspiration from its name, which alludes to the queen bee, Matca Hotel maintains its very own beehive, using the produced honey for various items featured in their dining options. Working alongside Roha Silva, the establishment provides a distinctive range of teas, elevating the genuine culinary journey for guests.

Visitors at Matca Hotel relish stunning vistas of the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului Mountains. The piece featured in TIME magazine additionally emphasizes a Maramureș-style lattice fence along with an intricately crafted wooden gateway originating from Țara Făgărașului.

TIME reports that at the Matca Hotel, guests enjoy Transylvanian gourmet cuisine via a farm-to-table approach, complemented by an array of Romania’s best vintages. Visitors have the opportunity to indulge in authentic hay baths, a revitalizing regional tradition, or take a dip in a swimming pool offering breathtaking vistas of the mountains.

At this hotel, you would pay EUR 452 per night for a regular 19 square meter double room. The price could rise up to EUR 884 for an expansive 92 square meter villa. Additionally, they offer suite options including junior suites.
