Jack Gosiewski is keeping the Brisbane back row united and has initiated discussions for a new contract following his uncertain future last year.

The resilient 30-year-old winger, nicknamed "Jet-ski," has been a standout player for the Brisbane Broncos since Coach Michael Maguire took charge.

Due to injuries and form issues, the seasoned journeyman managed only six NRL appearances for the Brisbane Broncos in 2024 following a mid-year move from North Queensland.

His previous South Sydney mentor, Maguire, supported him during the pre-season trials. Before Friday evening’s match at home against the Sydney Roosters, he remains the sole Broncos forward who has begun all five finished games this season.

"When questioned regarding the discussions for a fresh contract, off-contract Gosiewski stated, 'We have initiated the process,'" he remarked.

Absolutely, I would like to remain with the club. My current contract ends this year and my intention is to continue staying.

I have represented five distinct teams for various reasons; however, I am content with my current situation and am delivering steady performances in the game right now.

Gosiewski has acquired a Chargrill Charlie's chicken franchise in Brisbane, binding him to business commitments in the state capital of Queensland for an extended period.

He is similarly attracting interest from Super League teams, offering an additional chance for him to play.

"Absolutely. It has always been an available choice, and we've consistently considered exploring that further," he stated.

Several new developments have occurred, so based on our timeline and preferences, we'll make that call when necessary.

Gosiewski began his NRL journey with the Rabbitohs in 2016 when Maguire was coaching there, which instilled in him a strong work ethic that remains intact today. This explains why he excels under the demanding style of the Broncos' coach, as shown by his crucial part in the team’s successful 4-1 beginning to the season.

"When I was younger, under Maguire’s guidance, I believed that intense training sessions and consistent repetitions were the norm," he explained.

That likely prepared me for my career, so I've always trained the way I play.

I've consistently believed in my capabilities and understood my potential. It's beneficial when Maguire recognizes this too and appreciates the standard of work I'm producing.

I've never sensed that time was running out for me. I've always had faith in myself.

Gosiewski was not at all pleased with his performance despite their 46-20 victory over the Wests Tigers last week.

When second-rowers Jordan Riki and Brendan Piakura return in rounds seven and eight respectively, he needs to continue making an impact.

Some matches have made me glad, and others haven’t," he stated. "In the last match played, I was not satisfied. I missed several tackles which resulted in tries, so clearly my defense needs work. I hold myself to high standards.
