The special support from J-League is gaining notice in the Asian Champions League Elite (ACLE) final.
The J-league representatives, Kawasaki Frontale and Yokohama F., are set to compete in the ACLE quarterfinals tournament beginning on the 26th (in Korea time) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Both clubs arranged charter flights for their journey; an Airbus A350 leased from Qatar Airways transported the athletes, club personnel, and league officials from each team. These two squads departed directly from Tokyo Narita International Airport to Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport without making any stops en route.
On the 23rd, the Japanese football media outlet Sakahiyho highlighted the benefits of using chartered flights, stating, "J-League’s support for extended travels has been exceptional." They reported that Kawasaki brought along an unprecedented number—197 pieces—of cargo during their international trip. This included both gear and food items as part of their baggage allowance. With these private jets, they managed to carry significantly more provisions compared to commercial airlines. Additionally, many team members opted for business class seating; however, even those unable to secure individual seats could still rest comfortably thanks to extra-large blankets provided specifically to minimize jet lag. Upon departure, the pilot acknowledged their advancement to the ACL final and dimmed cabin lights to ensure everyone had a good night's sleep during the flight.
The Kawasaki and Yokohama squads were treated generously upon their arrival in Jeddah. They swiftly passed through the Private Gate at King Abdulaziz International Airport for immigration procedures. In welcoming them, the Jeddah Tourism Authority presented bouquets of flowers along with cultural performances. Critics argue that "In Jeddah, movement around town requires transfers, which led to unavoidable mental and physical exhaustion." Nevertheless, they mitigated these challenges by using chartered flights. There’s an aspiration across the entire J-League for one of these teams to emerge victorious. As noted, “This marks a progression toward the decisive stages where such ambitions will be realized.”
The Kawasaki squad will fly via a chartered aircraft from Japan to Saudi Arabia alongside Yokohama through social media platforms. The J-Leagues have organized this special flight for the ACL finals and expressed gratitude towards J-League administrators and participating teams for their substantial backing.
Gwangju FC, having made it to the quarterfinals of the ACL, departed from Incheon International Airport the following day after their match against FC Seoul on the 19th. They traveled via layover to Jeddah. Initially planned to relocate right after the match with Seoul on the 20th, the fixture’s timing was moved up by a day owing to Seoul's adjustments. Manager Kim Ki-dong of Seoul stated, “On behalf of the K-League, Gwangju is taking part in this competition. It’s essential that we put forth our best effort. Regardless of who I am, every footballer would feel similarly.” The head coach of Gwangju, Lee Jung-hyo, contacted Manager Kim to express his appreciation for accommodating the new scheduling arrangement. Furthermore, he expressed thanks as well. Additionally, Coach Kim highlighted the ambiance within the stadium along with the tendencies exhibited by the referees, conveying his gratitude accordingly.
