Console to PC

Just to interrupt the Nintendo Switch 2 talks momentarily, but I recently came across the Minecraft watched a movie called Minecraft with my kids, and it's certainly not great, but then again, neither was the source material. Super Mario Brothers, regardless of how skilled Fallout And even though The Last of Us could potentially succeed on television, it seems unlikely that video game adaptations will ever become truly great films.

They are definitely making a ton of money though, as my cinema was absolutely chocka, with overexcited teens, younger kids, and a lot of bemused parents. I feel there’s nothing I can usefully say about the movie, it’s exactly what you’d expect and most of it washed over me so quickly I can barely remember it now. Although I did like that Jack Black was barely taking his roles seriously, which helped me endure it.

I accompanied my cousin and his children, and I observed that they soon started arguing about where and how to play the game. My kids were teased because they played it on Nintendo Switch, while the others claimed it was superior on PC. Upon checking at home, I discovered that the game isn't even available on Steam, which probably accounts for why it doesn't appear on those lists.

If so, would it likely be the top-ranked game? I’d imagine it probably would be. Regardless, for those who weren’t aware, you can obtain a free trial from the Microsoft website here It seems my children will be switching to the PC version instead. I believe this reflects the trends of our time overall.

Dance of the Seven Veils

It genuinely feels as though the Switch 2 is coming apart at the seams. More than a week has passed, yet we remain unaware of the pricing for many titles and updates. Some regions have gotten wind of the upgrade costs and the "Welcome Tour," but instead of keeping the U.S. in suspense, it appears that Europe is the one left waiting anxiously.

Why haven’t we been informed about the prices yet? What are they awaiting? Why are they determined to keep enthusiastic supporters puzzled and annoyed? This whole situation with the Switch 2 Edition games Is the worst, as everyone seems to have a different account, and Nintendo won’t simply state exactly what’s happening.

And only after more than a week do we discover that payment is required for this. Downloadable Content for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Individually, despite costing £67, why has this detail not been disclosed until now? Are they intentionally fostering a continuous flow of negative press? Is Sony overseeing their marketing strategies?

Ready and waiting

Let's be practical; if Nintendo decided to postpone the Switch 2 Direct because of tariff uncertainties, they wouldn't delay it just for a day or a week—they'd cancel it indefinitely.

U.S. import tariffs will likely cause significant complications for an extended period. With a 90-day delay announced exclusively for countries outside of China, it appears that Americans might have to wait between three to six months before any definitive deals are reached and products can finally hit the market over there.

GC: The release of Switch 2 in the US and elsewhere will not be delayed. Nintendo has already provided ample inventory in these regions prior to the imposition of tariffs.

Third party prices

The issue I see with the Switch 2 pricing uncertainty is that we haven't received information regarding third-party prices. Why would someone purchase the two-year-old Elden Ring for £70 on the Switch 2 when they could get it for just a fraction of that cost on other systems and PCs?

The cheeky response might suggest that folks who've only ever had aSwitch could potentially be enticed to buy major, intricate AAA titles such as Elden Ring and Final Fantasy 7 Remake. However, I'm skeptical about how many individuals fall into this category and would actually want these bigger games. Additionally, charging full price of £60+ for each poorly executed port seems likely to spell further trouble for Nintendo.

Slab of electronics

I’m not fond of getting into this type of argument, but I must point out that the European Mega Drive is hands down the most visually appealing console ever created. Are you trying to claim that the PC Engine surpasses it in terms of looks? Have you taken a moment to appreciate its sleek design? The console also featured an earphone jack for quieter gaming sessions. and a dial that gave you the sensation of being a DJ.

It was even better looking than the Japanese one. Was the European Mega Drive designed in Europe? How could the Japanese allow it to be better looking than theirs? Anyway, happy I’ve made my statement. In parting, GC, could you give me your top five best looking consoles, not handhelds, of all time? See ya.

Henry

GC: As mentioned earlier, our favorites include the PC Engine, European/Japanese SNES, and PlayStation One. We might also add the Neo-Geo and Sega Genesis to that list. Alternatively, the Wii and Xbox One S could be considered. There are simply too many consoles out there that look like plain black slabs these days.

Quiet summer

It’s somewhat discouraging that Microsoft is already working on what appears to be a lackluster update. summer showcase If their primary focus is going to be on The Outer Worlds 2, I'm not sure how enthused most players will be about it.

I believe their lineup is quite strong here, featuring titles like Fable, Gears Of War: E-Day, Perfect Dark, Ninja Gaiden 4, and Clockwork Revolution. While I'm not sure whether all these games will be major blockbusters—Fable and Gears might be exceptions—it certainly seems more diversified compared to what we typically see from them, which is undoubtedly positive.

I expect they might unveil some fresh content as well, possibly including a revamped version of Halo or whatever project Double Fine has been developing behind closed doors. While I remain hopeful, if Sony isn’t confident about hosting a comprehensive presentation, I doubt this year will wow me with groundbreaking new announcements.

I had wished that Nintendo would address the lackluster offerings from their competitors, but I was underwhelmed by the Direct presentation and felt let down by the scarcity of new announcements. The sole fresh title I recall is a wheelchair basketball game that seemed more like an amateur independent project rather than a major release.

Console get!

To mention that I managed to overcome Nintendo’s pre-order system in the end. I repeatedly requested the verification code anywhere from 12 to 15 times until they suddenly started appearing consecutively, with the final attempt succeeding. It was quite a challenge!

I'm hoping the console proves to be worthwhile. "Mario Kart World," "Donkey Kong Bananza," and "Diwida" all seem fantastic. Now, I just need to complete my current game, Sekiro, before moving forward; hopefully, it isn’t overly challenging.

The litmus test

Recently, someone mentioned how surprising it has been not to hear any news about Devil May Cry 6 for quite some time. Now, I came across that there’s a The Netflix series that's currently performing very well. (I hadn’t come across it until now).

I will never see it, but if this leads to additional funds for Capcom, adding to the substantial amount they're receiving from Monster Hunter Wilds, I fully support it. The introduction of the new Onimusha suggests that they might invest in wild ventures that likely won't be very profitable, but why not? They seem eager to pursue such projects anyway.

To my mind, this reflects what makes a top-tier publisher. You often observe this with companies like Nintendo and Square Enix, but not so much with EA or Activision. Specifically, Activision exemplifies the contrary approach since they now focus exclusively on producing Call of Duty titles and nothing else.

I would gently include Microsoft in that list as well, for fairness' sake, even though I'm uncertain about their expectations for certain games. Wasn’t it clear that South Of Midnight wouldn’t generate much interest before its release? Perhaps they knew this, yet did they anticipate positive reviews? It seems likely they did. No one embraces Xbox hype with greater enthusiasm than Microsoft itself.

Recently, with all the discussion surrounding AI, there’s a significant risk that creativity could be entirely removed from video games, particularly in mainstream titles outside of indie circles. A key indicator might be whether companies produce content driven by passion rather than solely focusing on potential sales success.

I'm not sure which part is more insane about that. Pokémon card story The concept that a trading card rescued a man's life or that in America, somebody firing through the wall of your home is merely sufficient to rouse you from sleep.

If they eventually launch Titanfall 3, I wish it coincides with the release of Half-Life 3, as that might unravel the very fabric of existence. It feels like anticipation for these elusive follow-ups has spanned my entire gaming career.
