Thirty years following the release of Alanis Morissette's Grammy Award-winning album Jagged Little Pill The lawsuit against the Canadian-American singer alleges failure to acknowledge one of her supposed co-writers.
In November 2024, Joseph Michael Hunt initiated legal action claiming he did not receive acknowledgment for his contribution to the successful album. The official credits list Alanis Morissette along with lyricist Glen Ballard as the sole writers, according to RadarOnline. He stated, “I have repeatedly requested Alanis to return my intellectual property over the years; however, this request was denied.” Furthermore, he commented bitterly, “She sacrificed her integrity ages ago... In my view, she’s an immensely gifted yet domineering individual.”
Morissette failed to reply to the court summons and requested that the case be dropped in January. In the meantime, she continues her role as a self-declared "holistic life coach," all while backing her spouse—hip-hop musician Mario "Souleye" Treadway—as he puts out fresh tracks.
