Mike Berry The renowned artist and actor from the 1960s passed away at the age of 82.

His colleague and buddy Peter Stockton verified the information to Diwida | , praising him as a 'brilliant' and 'humorous' individual.

The renowned musician – famous for hit songs like the 1960 track "Tribute to Buddy Holly" and his version of the early twentieth-century classic "The Sunshine of Your Smile" from 1913 – launched his career during the 1960s.

He remained on the road for the remainder of his life until just one week before he passed away, when he played a completely booked concert at the Half Moon Putney.

Berry was the final remaining principal actor from the popular television series "Are You Being Served?", which aired from 1972 to 1985. In the show, he portrayed the character Mr. Spooner.

In 1981, the celebrity became part of the series, stepping into the role previously held by Trevor Bannister as Mr. Lucas, and stayed with the production until its conclusion.

Berry, who was born in Northampton, started a skiffle band at school named The Rebels. He later achieved success with three hit records during the 1960s, one of which was "Don’t You Think It’s Time."

'He was also a talented actor, as demonstrated through his roles in the beloved sitcom Are You Being Served.'

'A great sorrow for the realm of music, and I trust he is now sharing laughter with numerous former friends in Heaven.'

The editor at SongLink, David Stark, also shared a touching Facebook tribute.

'I've known Mike for nearly half a century since 1976; he has been one of the kindest individuals in the industry, always ready with a chuckle and a grin.'

His outstanding sell-out performance at the Half Moon Putney took place just a few weeks back; he was in exceptional shape and had plans for another event this coming summer.

'Very, very sad news indeed; Rest in Peace Mike, you will be deeply missed...'
