S’gor councils act on public complaints Unknown complaints, councils, laws and regulations, local and municipal government, local news <img data-document-id="cms/api/amp/image/AA1BpTAm" data-reference="image" src="https://img-s-msn-com.akamaized.net/tenant/amp/entityid/AA1BpTAm.jpg"/> <p> <p> KUALA Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) has followed up on public complaints about illegal dumping in Jenjarom. </p> <p> The local council carried out an operation to clear piles of rubbish found near a roadside eatery in Taman Rambai Indah. </p> <p> MPKL also erected a sign warning offenders during another cleanup of an illegal dumpsite in Taman Ria. </p> <p> In media statements, MPKL said the operations were aimed at keeping pests and pollution in the municipality under control. </p> <p> “We warn that strict action will be taken against anyone found dumping waste indiscriminately and illegally,” it said. </p> <p> “MPKL is calling on residents to be mindful of where they throw rubbish, as cleanliness is our shared responsibility.” </p> <p> A hub for various industrial activities, Kuala Langat has seen an increased number of illegal dumpsites including e-waste disposal sites in recent years. </p> <p> On July 12 last year, Kuala Langat MP Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, who is also Sijangkang assemblyman, raised concerns about this issue in his constituency and urged the authorities to take action. </p> <p> He mentioned that open burning frequently happened during nighttime. </p> <p> In another incident, an operation conducted by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) at a building site located in Kemensah Heights close to Taman Melawati revealed extremely poor conditions. </p> <p> The region was scattered with still water bodies that could serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes. </p> <p> "Larviciding took place around the construction site to stop mosquitoes from breeding," stated the local council in a media release. </p> <p> One summons was issued under Section 74 of the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171) for permitting possible mosquito breeding sites to remain unaddressed. </p> <p> According to the MPAJ statement, a verbal warning was issued to both the site safety officer and the workers. </p> <p> In the meantime, during a raid conducted on Jalan Samudera Barat 1 in Taman Samudera, officers from the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) confiscated goods from multiple vendors who were obstructing public space. </p> <p> Images posted on social media revealed multiple tents containing various goods occupying numerous parking spaces in a business district. </p> <p> The seized items comprised 100 chairs, a portable kiosk, four tents, and kitchen gear. </p> <p> Additionally, the MPS media release stated that they also confiscated six gas cylinders, two refrigerators, and multiple stoves. </p> </p> S’gor councils act on public complaints Unknown complaints, councils, laws and regulations, local and municipal government, local news KUALA Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) has followed up on public complaints about illegal dumping in Jenjarom.
