 ノートパソコンで500-LAN6KC03を使ってネットに接続してみよう！

 それでは、実際に500-LAN6KC03を使ってみましょう。今回はWi-Fiや有線LAN端子直挿しの速度の違いも計測するため、有線LAN端子を装備するdynabook（Windows 11）を使用。また、ネット環境は光回線の1Gbpsとなっています。


 500-LAN6KC03の接続で悩むことはありません。まず、有線LAN端子をWi-Fiルーターなどに接続して、反対側のUSB-C端子をノートパソコン側に挿すだけ。これだけでドライバなどをインストールすることなく、数秒後にはすぐにネットに接続されます。


 ノートパソコンでChromeを起動して「インターネット回線の速度テスト（Fast.com）」を使ってネットの速度を計測したところ、実測値は平均570Mbpsでした。有線LAN直挿しの場合は平均730Mbpsでしたので、少し速度は落ちましたが実用上は何も困らないレベルでしょう。


 ちなみに、Wi-Fiは11ac（5GHz）での接続になりますが、平均が400Mbps程度でした。これなら500-LAN6KC03を使うメリットは十分ありそうですね。

 USB-C接続のAndroidやiPhoneでも使える!?

 500-LAN6KC03はWindowsパソコンはもちろん、MacBook ProシリーズやiPad mini（第6世代）、Nintendo Switchなどにも対応していますが、スマホの場合はどうなのでしょうか？


 最近のAndroidやiPhone 15以降では充電端子がUSB-Cになっており、ほとんどの場合OTG機能に対応していますので、500-LAN6KC03が使えるかもしれません。


 ちなみに、OTG（USB On-The-Go）機能とは、USB機器同士を直接接続して使用できるようにする規格のこと。USB-C接続のマウスやSDカードリーダーといったPC周辺機器も、意外とUSB-Cに接続してスマホでも使えることが多いのです。


 そこで、まずはAndroidスマホに500-LAN6KC03を接続してみましょう。今回はOPPOを使用したので設定からOTGをオンにしないと認識しませんが、AQUOSやXpeiaなどは自動的に認識されるのですぐに使えます。


 その結果はWi-Fi接続時が380Mbpsなのに対し、500-LAN6KC03接続時は330Mbpsでした。まあ、これはほとんど誤差の範囲でしょう。

 次に、USB-Cを備えるiPhone 15 Proでテストしてみます。こちらは500-LAN6KC03をUSB-Cに挿せばすぐに利用可能となりました。ネットの速度も530Mbpsだったので十分実用的でしょう。
