 Israel last month ended its ceasefire with Hamas and renewed its air and ground offensive, carrying out waves of strikes and seizing territory to pressure the militant group to accept a new deal for a truce and release the remaining hostages. It has also blocked the import of food, fuel and humanitarian aid for over a month to the coastal territory heavily reliant on outside help.


 "Stocks are getting low and the situation is becoming desperate," the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees said on social media.

 The latest Israeli strikes overnight into Sunday hit a tent and a house in the southern city of Khan Younis, killing five men, five women and five children, according to Nasser Hospital, which received the bodies.


 A female journalist was among those killed. "My daughter is innocent. She had no involvement, she loved journalism and adored it," said her mother, Amal Kaskeen.


 The body of one child, under two years old, took up just one end of an emergency stretcher.


 "Trump wants to end the Gaza issue. He is in a hurry, and that is clear from this morning," said Mohammad Abdel-Hadi, a cousin of a woman killed.

 Israeli shelling killed at least four people in the Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza, according to Gaza's Health Ministry.


 The bodies of seven people, including a child and three women, arrived at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, according to an Associated Press journalist there.


 And a strike in Gaza City hit people waiting outside a bakery and killed at least six, including three children, according to the civil defence, which operates under the Hamas-run government.


 Israel's military said about 10 projectiles were fired from Gaza and most were intercepted, in the largest barrage from the territory since Israel resumed the war. Hamas' military arm claimed responsibility. Israeli police said some fragments fell in Ashqelon city. There were no reports of injuries.


 Dozens of Palestinians took to the streets in Jabaliya for a new round of anti-war protests. Footage circulating on social media showed people marching and chanting against Hamas. Such protests, while rare, have taken place in recent weeks.

In Gaza, Palestinians have held an unusual public demonstration urging Hamas to halt the conflict and depart from the region.


 Online videos depict thousands of individuals participating in an anti-war demonstration in the war-ravaged northern town of Beit Lahiya on Tuesday.


 Although the demonstrations initially started in northern Gaza, social media reports indicate that they spread across different parts of Gaza throughout the day, with gatherings reaching as far south as Khan Younis by nightfall.


 In certain video clips, supporters of Hamas are shown trying to disperse the gatherings.


 Some demonstrators broadly called for an end to the hostilities with Israel, whereas others specifically accused Hamas of initiating the conflict and urged the organization to abandon Gaza.

 Although Hamas secured the highest number of seats in the 2006 parliamentary elections, they did not gain more than half of the total votes cast. They rejected forming a power-sharing arrangement with Fatah, the former ruling party in Gaza, ultimately taking control in 2007.


 Human rights organizations allege that Hamas forcefully suppresses opposition, crushes demonstrations in regions under its control, and imprisons as well as tortures those who criticize them.

 Protests could affect Hamas
</h2>

 In Beit Lahiya, individuals wielded placards with messages like "End the conflict" and "Our lives matter too," while some voices clearly shouted for change with "Out with Hamas."


 "I am tired of the bombings, killings, and displacements," stated Ammar Hassan, who was present at the demonstration.


 As per Hassan, the protest began as a small anti-war gathering of several dozen individuals but later grew to over 2,000 participants, who were shouting slogans against Hamas.


 "The only party we have influence over is this one," he stated via telephone. "Demonstrations may not halt the Israeli occupation, but they could impact Hamas," he explained.

 "The protest wasn’t centered around politics; it was focused on matters affecting people’s daily lives,” stated Mohammed Abu Saker, a father of three from the adjacent town of Beit Hanoun, who participated in the demonstration.


 "Ideally, we aim to halt the violence and forced relocation, regardless of the cost. While we cannot prevent Israel from attacking us, we can exert pressure on Hamas to make compromises," he stated.


 A statement issued by the Elders and Mukhtars of the Beit Lahiya group showed their backing for the demonstrations opposing Israel's military operation and its blockade, yet they also endorsed armed resistance.


 Local leaders stated that they dismissed "any effort to misuse valid public grievances by a fifth column," seemingly alluding to Hamas' adversaries.

 Tensions running high
</h2>

 A week following Israel's termination of the ceasefire with Hamas, where they initiated a sudden series of attacks resulting in numerous fatalities, the demonstrations began.


 At the beginning of this month, Israel also stopped delivering food, fuel, medicines, and humanitarian assistance to Gaza’s approximately two-million-person population.


 Israel has pledged to intensify the conflict until Hamas releases the 59 hostages they currently hold, with 24 thought to still be alive.


 Israel is also insisting that the organization relinquish control, lay down arms, and have its leadership go into exile.


 The conditions set by Hamas for freeing the remaining hostages in return for the release of Palestinian detainees include a permanent truce and complete Israeli troop removal from Gaza.

 Netanyahu stated that the IDF had captured the "Morag axis," which separates Rafah from Khan Younis.

 Israel's far-right National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, visited the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in Jerusalem’s Old City, prompting anger and strong reactions from the global community.


 Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the Palestinian militant organization Hamas denounced the visit to the sacred location.


 The Al-Aqsa Mosque forms part of Haram al-Sharif, also referred to as the Noble Sanctuary, and holds significance as the third holiest mosque in Islam. For those practicing Judaism, this location is recognized as the Temple Mount and stands as the most sacred place for them.

 Hospital officials in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip say Israeli airstrikes in the southern city of Khan Younis have killed 17 people overnight.


 The bodies of 12 people killed in an overnight airstrike were brought to Nasser Hospital, officials said on Wednesday. The victims included five women, one of them pregnant, and two children.


 Officials said three men from the same family were killed, as were the owners of the bombed house.


 Gaza European Hospital received the bodies of five people who were killed in two separate airstrikes, officials there said.

 Germany reports that citizens have departed from Gaza.

 The German Foreign Office says 19 German citizens have been able to leave Gaza with close family members after talks with Israeli officials.


 "Since the beginning of the fighting in Gaza, the German government has repeatedly and intensively advocated for the departure and safety of German citizens," the Foreign Office told DIwida.News |.


 Today, in tight cooperation with Israeli officials, an additional 19 German nationals along with their immediate families managed to depart from Gaza.


 "They used the Kerem Shalom border crossing. They continued their journey by charter flight via an airport in southern Israel directly to Germany."


 Extensive areas of Gaza have been reduced to rubble due to the conflict that began on October 7, 2023, after the Hamas-backed militant assault on Israel resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths, largely among civilian populations.


 Israel's counter-attack in Gaza has resulted in over 50,000 Palestinian casualties, as reported by the Health Ministry of the territory governed by Hamas.


 The ministry makes no distinction between civilians and combatants, yet both the UN and several humanitarian groups regard the casualty figures as largely accurate.

 "This is the only way to end the war," Katz said.


 Hamas continues to hold 59 hostages, with approximately 24 believed to be still alive. The majority of the others have been released through various ceasefires or negotiated settlements.


 The Hostages and Missing Families Forums condemned Katz’s choice to broaden Israel's activities in Gaza, questioning whether this move signifies an intention to abandon the hostages in pursuit of “land acquisitions.”

Israel Launches Ground Operation to Reclaim Critical Gaza Corridor

Israel has initiated what it refers to as a "restricted ground offensive" aimed at reclaiming portions of the crucial Netzarim Corridor, an area designated by the IDF stretching from the Israeli border to the Mediterranean Sea, dividing Gaza into two parts.

 As Israel carried out further airstrikes in Gaza on Wednesday, the United Nations verified the death of one of its employees and injuries to five more individuals due to an attack on a UN guesthouse in Gaza.


 Jorge Moreira da Silva, who leads the UN Office for Project Services, did not identify the perpetrators but affirmed that the explosive device was intentionally released or launched.


 The Israeli military, having conducted extensive aerial attacks across Gaza since late Monday, refuted previous claims stating they had struck the UN facility.


 However, Moreira da Silva stated that the Israeli military had been notified about the site’s position following the initial attack close to the complex. The military acknowledged on Monday that they knew it was a United Nations facility housing both residents and workers.


 He didn't mention the nationalities of those who were affected.


 Following the incident on Wednesday, those injured were transported to Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Hospital in Deir al-Balah. There, one man was brought in using a stretcher, and another individual underwent care for a knee wound.


 Following the collapse of the delicate truce on Tuesday, there has not been any documented rocket fire or assaults carried out by Palestinian militants since then. Additionally, Israeli airstrikes noticeably decreased in frequency on Wednesday.


 As of early Tuesday, the Gaza Health Ministry reported that 436 individuals have lost their lives, with 183 being children and 94 being women. Additionally, at least 678 people have sustained injuries.


 The Gaza Health Ministry does not differentiate between civilian casualties and those of combatants in their count.


 The Israeli army maintains that it only targets militant sites and attributes the civilian casualties to Hamas, asserting that they conduct operations in heavily populated regions.


 The United Nations reports that the Israel-Hamas conflict ranks among the most lethal ever for personnel working in the region.


 Israel said it carried out attacks on militant locations, hitting a Hamas battalion's command center on Wednesday.


 Israel continues to concentrate on neutralizing Hamas, whereas Hamas insists on complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and an end to hostilities, both of which Israel rejects. Instead, Israel proposes extending the truce and releasing additional captives as part of a new agreement.

 Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Sunday that the ongoing military pressure exerted by Israel on the Palestinian militant organization Hamas in Gaza has been effective.


 During a Cabinet meeting, Netanyahu stated that the organization, which is classified as a terrorist group by Israel, the United States, Germany, and other countries, needs to disarm.


 The remarks from the Israeli prime minister were made against the backdrop of ongoing mediation attempts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States aimed at securing a truce in Gaza. These negotiations also seek to ensure the liberation of the remaining captives still being held by Hamas.


 On Sunday, Israeli strikes on Gaza continued as Muslims celebrated the first day of Eid al-Fitr, killing at least eight in the southern Khan Younis area, including five children.

 Netanyahu denied that Israel was not engaged in negotiations aimed at securing the release of hostages held by Hamas since it led attacks on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 Israelis and taking 251 people hostage.  "We are negotiating under fire," Netanyahu said, arguing that the negotiation strategy was effective. "We can see cracks beginning to appear" in what the group demanded in its negotiations.


 Israel has been engaged in air and then ground operations in Gaza with health authorities in the Hamas-run enclave saying over 50,200 Palestinians have been killed since the October 7 attacks.


 A delicate truce emerged, bringing about several weeks of comparative tranquility in Gaza after more than a year of unrest, along with the liberation of multiple Israeli captives.

 Last week, Israel's Cabinet approved a proposal to establish a new directorate for advancing the "voluntary departure" of Palestinians from Gaza.
