Anniversary of commemorating the victims of the Jeju Massacre

Lee Jae-myung (third from left), who leads the primary opposition Democratic Party, silently prays during a commemoration event held at the Peace Park located in Jeju City—the capital of South Korea’s biggest island—also named Jeju, on April 3, 2025. This occasion marks the 77th year since honoring those killed in the 1948–1954 conflict triggered by political differences between Jeju Islanders and authorities based on the mainland. That tragic episode known as the April 3 Incident resulted in the deaths of numerous local inhabitants. (Yonhap)
