Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong, the Ghanaian artist known as Blacko or Black Sherif, has revealed the toughest choice he faced when pursuing his musical journey.
During an exclusive conversation with David Carmi, who hosts the motivational program The Confidence Heist, Blacko revealed that his self-assurance stems from his proficiency.
The artist behind "Kwaku The Traveller" revealed that he had to defy his parents' wishes to pursue music, even though they desired for him to complete his education first before making significant life choices.
Confidence fuels my capability. I accomplish tasks and turn dreams into reality.
"One of my dreams as a little kid that I made a reality was to be a performer. Any which way anyhow, like a grafitti artist, an artist like a live performing artiste and now I sing so it is a childhood dream."
Simply being this street artist walking around New York City is like a dream. One of the difficult aspects as an entertainer was defying what my mother had said.
Although it was difficult, I glimpsed a promising future ahead. In 2019, my mom encouraged me to attend university, but I fought for a gap year to concentrate on pursuing music instead. This gave me an entire year to demonstrate to my parents that this path was what I truly desired. Now, she feels very proud of me.
