Carrie Underwood She might be recognized as the nation's Queen of Country for hits such as "Before She Cheats" and "Cowboy Casanova," yet that doesn’t stop her from venturing into some heavy rock music occasionally.
The American Idol Judge stunned her audience when she reunited with long-time pal Jacoby Shaddix, frontman of the Grammy-nominated group Papa Roach. This encounter happened during their show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, just around the corner from where Carrie has her own residency. As expected, the country star made an impromptu stop-by which led her supporters to urge Carrie for hints about potentially releasing a rock album sometime soon.
Wearing leather flared pants, a fringed jacket, and a fishnet top that highlighted her athletic build, the 42-year-old artist posted pictures on Instagram from the spectacular collaboration with Papa Roach. She commented, “I still can’t believe this happened.” Adding more excitement, she mentioned, “Not only was I able to perform ‘Leave A Light On’ with them, they also brought me back for an encore of ‘Last Resort,’ so clearly, anything goes!”
If you've been curious about how Carrie might sound if she switched from country to rock, good news—she posted a snippet of their collaboration on Instagram. Fans responded with comments like, "This is something we didn’t know we needed," and "This rocks 💪."
This show was the inaugural appearance where Carrie and Papa Roach shared the stage together, though it wasn’t their initial collaboration. They previously entered the studio last year to create a new rendition of Papa Roach’s track “Leave a Light On (Talk Away the Dark)” with an aim to highlight mental health issues and prevent suicides. The earnings from this joint effort were directed towards supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention as well as promoting the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
Longtime fans are probably well aware that this wasn't Carrie's first time taking on the rock genre head-on. She's also performed covers of songs including Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child o' Mine" And Aerosmith's "Walk This Way," among others. To put it simply, if she chooses to create a rock album, we definitely wouldn’t object to it.
