 由2024年3月14日至31日，旺角T.O.P商場將搖身一變成為全城矚目的潮玩熱點，萬代食玩（BANDAI CANDY TOY）首次聯手萬代潮玩（BANDAI ART TOY，又稱BNESH原創商品），舉辦「萬代食玩 x 潮玩探索之旅」（Bandai Candy Toy x Art Toy Adventure）活動。活動以「冒險」為主題，將整座商場從MTR/F至3/F精心打造成一個超大型動漫樂園，各樓層設有特色打卡位及展品，讓訪客彷彿置身於一場驚喜連連的探索之旅，集觀賞、購物與娛樂於一身，為動漫迷及市民帶來前所未有的體驗。

Mike Berry, the British singer and actor famous for his hit songs 'Don't You Think It's Time' and 'Sunshine Of Your Smile,' has passed away at the age of 82, as reported by his manager.


 Berry was the final surviving star from the hit production.

 The TV sitcom "Are You Being Served?" featured him as a regular cast member, and he also appeared regularly in the original series of "Worley Gummidge."

 Indie legends Pulp have revealed plans for a new album titled "More" and have debuted their first single in nearly 24 years, named "Spike Island."
 


 Talking on Diwali | 6 Music
 Jarvis Cocker, the lead singer, mentioned that the band was lured back into the recording studio due to the enthusiastic reaction to their reunion tour in 2023.


 He mentioned that they performed one fresh track near the tour’s conclusion, and neither objects were thrown nor people departed for drinks. Hence, they decided to proceed and explore what additional ideas they might come up with.


 The Sheffield-based group was among the most prominent artists during the 1990s Britpop scene—though their music didn’t entirely align with the nostalgic musical reinterpretation characteristic of that time—with hits such as "Babies," "Disco 2000," and "Common People."


 Founded in Sheffield in 1978, they achieved sales of over 10 million records following a (rather lengthy) journey to fame.


 Following their album "We Love Life" released in 2001, the group embarked on a ten-year break. They regrouped in 2011 for several festival appearances, notably surprising audiences with a set at Glastonbury, before reconvening once more in 2023.

 The latest song draws inspiration from the legendary Stone Roses performance at Spike Island in 1990—a gig that some hail as a pivotal moment for British indie music, while others depict it as an underwhelming mess marred by poor audio quality.


 Pulp's guitarist Mark Webber informed BBC Radio 6 Music's Lauren Laverne that the performance felt somewhat disappointing, to say the least.


 “I believe everybody experienced it similarly,” he stated. “While there was considerable excitement, the overall atmosphere was lacking due to unfavorable conditions like strong winds, which made everything feel off.”


 Cocker mentioned he wasn't present at the event, but crafted the lyrics following conversations with several participants, one of whom was musician Jason Buckle from the band All Seeing I, who collaborated on writing Pulp's single.


 All he could recall was a DJ who would say after each track, '
 Spike Island springs to life, Spike Island springs to life
 '," he said.


 I kept thinking about those words because my concentration doesn't last long, I believe.


 Cocker mentioned that the song serves as a companion piece to "Sorted for E's and Whizz" from 1995, drawing inspiration from the same fan’s account of attending a Stone Roses concert.


 He remembered, "The inspiration behind that song came from a conversation with a girl at The Leadmill in Sheffield one evening."


 "What she recalled was everyone repeating, '
 Has everyone got their E's and Whizz?
 Thus, those words remained etched in my memory.


 Additional releases are scheduled for 6 June and will honor Pulp's ex-bassist Steve Mackey.

 Cocker mentioned that initially it felt strange to record without the musician, but he found comfort in knowing that "there were two tracks on the album that go back to when Steve was involved," which gave him a sense of being part of the project.


 The singer added, 'It wasn’t the most pleasant experience,' but emphasized that those we have a strong bond with remain unforgettable, and we often find ways to keep their memory alive.

 The album was created within a span of three weeks in 2024, and Cocker mentioned that there weren’t “any overarching themes, perhaps just emotions, which might sound quite vague and imprecise.”


 He mentioned that the lack of a central concept provided the group with a feeling of liberty, unlike their more thematic albums like "This Is Hardcore."


 "I believe we captured it rather swiftly, and we aimed at not overthinking it too much, as that was somewhat what complicated the production of our recent few Pulp records," he stated.


 I primarily take the blame," he said, "since I had never sorted out the lyrics, which led me to constantly change them and mess around.


 On this occasion, everything was penned down before we entered the recording studio, and I found it considerably less taxing.


 As he explained, 'I used to feel quite anxious in the studio because after completing the music, I had to compose the lyrics, which seemed like self-inflicted torture for some reason.'

 Artificial intelligence video
</h2>

 In a statement released with the announcement of the record, Cocker commented: "We trust you will appreciate the music. It was crafted and played by four individuals hailing from Northern England, assisted by another five people originating from different parts of the British Isles."


 AI did not play a role in this process.


 Nevertheless, he utilized artificial intelligence to produce the video for Spike Island, bringing to life the well-known "cardboard cutout" characters featured on the cover of Pulp's best-selling album, Different Class.


 "All the moving images featured in the video are the result of me feeding in a still image and then typing in a 'prompt' such as: 'The black & white figure remains still whilst the bus in the background drives off', which led to [a] sequence where the coach weirdly slides towards the cut-out of me," he wrote.


 The weekend I started working on the video was an odd period: I left the house and continually anticipated bizarre changes in my surroundings because of the imagery generated by the computer.


 This experience left an impression on me. I'm not sure if I have fully recuperated from it.


 Once the video was completed, the musician stated that he had decisively chosen "human intellect" over artificial intelligence.


 The group will launch their UK tour the day following the album’s release in June, yet, responding to a listener of 6Music, they stated they have "no intentions" to perform at Glastonbury.


 Accomplishing this would be akin to performing a logistical miracle since they are scheduled to perform two concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in California during the same weekend as Glastonbury.

 "Drop" is the type of film that distinguishes genuine cinema enthusiasts from those who watch movies conditionally. The film is manipulative, inherently absurd, blatant, exaggerated, and appeals directly to one’s instincts while being impossible to resist. In doing so, it captures the authentic essence of filmmaking.


 Film is considered a crude form of expression. Although it has the potential to achieve noble artistic goals, fundamentally, it relies on transforming viewers from a composed group into a single responsive entity by exploiting primal emotions such as desire or fear.


 "Drop" exudes a sense of generosity as it lacks pretense and harbors no ambitions beyond triggering reactions from viewers, compelling them to gasp, shift uncomfortably, and speculate about upcoming twists.


 Everything begins innocently enough, with a charming widow named Violet (Meghann Fahy) preparing for her first date since losing her spouse. The details of her husband's passing remain unclear, but a brief opening scene hints at a truly ghastly event.


 Initially, everything appears to be going smoothly. She has a date with Brandon Sklenar, an actor whose work is familiar to us from "صند
 It Ends With Us
 That Sklenar is precisely the person someone should date after going through a traumatic event. However, as soon as they sit down together, her phone begins receiving constant AirDrop-like notifications. When she eventually gives in and opens one of these messages, she finds herself descending into a nightmarish situation.


 Screenwriters Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach succinctly outline the scenario: A masked intruder has invaded her home with threats to kill both her son and her sister, who is acting as the babysitter, unless Violet completes several assignments. The intruder will also carry out these killings if she informs others about the situation. This forces her to keep her date oblivious to everything happening.


 Violet’s reluctance to disclose the cause of her anguish accomplishes two beneficial outcomes that appear contradictory but surprisingly complement each other: it amplifies the dramatic tension, while simultaneously introducing a touch of dry comedic effect.


 From a theatrical perspective, the realization that Violet cannot speak heightens our perception of her confinement. She finds herself trapped in an unyielding situation from which she seems unable to break free, leaving us struggling to envision a joyful resolution for her.


 However, if you take a step back and consider the perspective of her date watching this unfold, "Drop" turns out to be amusing. At first, he begins the evening with hopes that she will enjoy his company, yet after about thirty minutes, he finds himself questioning whether she might require psychological help. She appears tense and easily startled, frequently checks her phone, and repeatedly heads for the restroom. Additionally, she expresses a desire to move tables before promptly changing her decision.


 To some extent, it's a traditional farcical scenario where two individuals engage in dialogue rooted entirely in a misinterpretation of the actual circumstances.


 It would be inaccurate to claim that 'Drop' is accidentally humorous, yet the comedy isn't deliberately crafted either. The film can best be described as bold, with director Christopher Landon allowing viewers to interpret their own reactions.


 To illustrate audacity, think about this scenario: A restaurant sits atop a skyscraper in downtown Chicago, featuring wall-to-wall glass panes that offer stunning views. In a shocking turn of events, somebody punctures one of these windows, causing people inside to be pulled out due to the pressure difference. Seriously? Would Chicago eateries really have such pressurization?


 This scene is rather ridiculous, yet at this stage of the narrative, we find ourselves caring about which characters might be pulled through that window. "Drop" is an engaging film that successfully achieves dual objectives.

 2025年1月には、活動初期のボウイを映したドキュメンタリー映画『デヴィッド・ボウイ　幻想と素顔の狭間で』が公開された。また、2025年5月、6月には彼の遺作ミュージカル『LAZARUS』の日本版が上演される予定だ。主演を務める松岡充（SOPHIA）も、自身がロックを志したきっかけはデヴィッド・ボウイだったとコメントしている。

 デヴィッド・ボウイ、本名デヴィッド・ロバート・ジョーンズは、1947年1月8日、ロンドンの南に位置する町ブリクストンで生まれた。父ヘイウッドと母マーガレット、そして、マーガレットの連れ子で10歳上の義兄テリーという家族構成だった。
 


 
 幼いデヴィッドの芸術的感性に影響を与えたのは、父ヘイウッドだった。芸能関係の仕事をしていた父は、時折不要になったレコードを職場から持ち帰っており、デヴィッドはその音楽に熱心に聞き入っていた。特に彼を魅了したのは、黒人歌手リトル・リチャードだった。代表曲の「のっぽのサリー」（1956年）は、エルヴィス・プレスリーにもカバーされており、ロックンロールというジャンルの形成に多大なる影響を及ぼした人物である。

 ◆YMOをはじめとした80年代の日本人アーティストに与えた影響

 その後のボウイで印象的なのは、やはり「ジギー・スターダスト」の誕生である。1970年代前半、あろうことか彼は、「デヴィッド・ボウイ」という名を捨て、新たに「ジギー・スターダスト」という架空のロックスターを演じるようになったのだ。
 


 
 女性ファッション雑誌を参考に短く切った髪をオレンジ色に染めたボウイは、自らがゲイであることを公言して、新たなアーティスト像を打ち出していく。ボウイなのか、ジギーなのか、男なのか女なのか、そんな曖昧な世界観に人々は引き込まれていった。
 


 
 もちろん、ボウイ熱に浮かされたのは、日本人も例外ではない。フォーククルセダーズのメンバーの一人で、後にロックバンド、サディスティック・ミカバンドを結成することになる加藤和彦もボウイ・ブームの目撃者だった。このサディスティック・ミカバンドのドラマーとして知られる高橋幸宏は、後に80年代のテクノブームをけん引するグループ、イエロー・マジック・オーケストラ(YMO)のメンバーになる。また、同じくYMOの坂本龍一も大島渚監督作品『戦場のメリークリスマス』（1983年）でボウイと共演し、ヒットを記録する。こうしたことからも、70年代のスターとしてのデヴィッド・ボウイ像は、日本の80年代カルチャーに少なからぬ影響を与えていると言える。

 YMOのみならず、テクノといえば欠かせないのがドイツの音楽グループの影響である。70年代後半、シンセサイザーなどの電子楽器が発達する中、ドイツではクラフトワークやノイ!といったグループが、こうした新技術を用いて次々と作品を発表していた。
 


 
 ボウイもこうした作品には耳を傾けており、新しい創作の可能性を模索していた。その結果、出来上がったのが、いわゆる「ベルリン三部作」である。これらの作品は、当時、アンビエントという新たなジャンルを確立しつつあった、ブライアン・イーノとの共演で制作された。中でも三部作の1作目『ロウ』（1977年）は、収録曲の半数が歌声の入っていないインストゥルメンタルの楽曲であり、強い実験性を帯びた作品だった。
 


 
 『ロウ』は、斬新な作風ではあったものの、それが故にレコード会社は商業的な成功は見込めないのではないかと危惧していた。しかし、そんな予想とは裏腹に、リスナーたちはその先進性を評価した。今では後に登場するポスト・パンクやニューウェーブといった新しいジャンルの先駆けだったと言われている。
 


 
 ◆ボウイと京都の知られざる関係

 ボウイのキャリアを語るうえで欠かすことのできない場所はいくつかある。その中でも、とりわけ重要だと思われるのが、先述のベルリン、そして、京都である。
 


 
 先述の通り、ベルリンといえば「ベルリン三部作」が有名である。では、京都はどうだろうか。京都にはかつてボウイがお忍びで訪れていたとか、一時期、実際に住んでいたとか、そういった噂がささやかれている。
 


 
 そんなボウイと京都の関係性の中でも印象的なのが、宝酒造の焼酎「純」のテレビCM （1980年）である。京都市の北部にある正伝寺の枯山水庭園で撮影されたCMは、ボウイが焼酎の入ったグラスを手に枯山水庭園に座り込んでいるだけという、CMとしてはいささか地味なものだった。
 


 
 だが、流石はデヴィッド・ボウイである。このCMによって宝酒造と焼酎「純」の国内における知名度は大幅に上がった。また、宝酒造はこれを機に「デヴィッド・ボウイも出演したテレビCM」という強力な口説き文句を得て、様々な海外アーティストの出演承諾を得るコマーシャル路線を確立していった。
 


 
 ◆80年代の躍進－メジャーシーンへの本格参入－

 80年代のボウイといえば、やはりアルバム『レッツ・ダンス』（1983年）の爆発的なヒットが有名である。これまでの作品も全く注目を受けていなかったわけではないが、やはり全英米でのトップ入り、そして、グラミー賞最優秀賞ノミネートは異例だった。どちらかといえばアングラ寄りだったボウイが、本格的にメジャーなスターたちの仲間入りを果たした瞬間でもある。
 


 
 しかしながら、単なる呑気なポップスターにならないところがボウイらしい。オーストラリアで撮影された「レッツ・ダンス」のMVは、資本主義社会の中で苦しむアボリジニたちを主人公にしており、暗に植民地主義を批判している。
 


 
 ◆マルチな顔を持つアーティストとして

 これまでの彼の生涯を眺めると、デヴィッド・ボウイがロックシンガーという地位を基盤にして、多くのことに挑戦してきたことがわかる。90年代には、デヴィッド・リンチ監督の映画『ツイン・ピークス　ローラ・パーマー最後の7日間』（1992年）で重要な役どころ演じるなど、俳優としてのキャリアも充実してきた。
 


 
 そんな90年代、破竹の勢いで発達したのがインターネットだった。今でこそ、ネットは生活になくてはならない存在だが、この当時はまだまだ一般的にはマイナーなものだった。インターネットという新しいツールに新しいコミュニケーションの可能性を見出したのは、なにもマーク・ザッカーバーグをはじめとしたIT系の人間だけではなかった。ボウイもこの新しい可能性に興味を示した一人だった。
 


 
 ボウイはいち早く、楽曲のダウンロード販売をネット上で始めた。また、彼の公式サイトでは会員限定のチャットルームが開設され、ときにはボウイ自身も「セイラー(sailor)」のハンドルネームでファンたちの間に姿を現すこともあったという。アーティストがSNSで日々の日常を吐露し、サブスクリプションを介して楽曲を配信する現在から見ても、彼のこうした行動は時代を感じさせないものがある。まして、90年代にこれをやっていたのだから、間違いなく彼には先見の明があったはずだ。
 


 
 ◆デヴィッド・ボウイ引退説の真相

 2000年代に入っても、ボウイの勢いは衰え知らずだった。新たなアルバムを発表し、ツアーも実施する。50代も半ばに差し掛かろうとしているにもかかわらず、相変わらず活動的だった。
 


 
 ところが、この勢いは突然、中断する。2004年6月、ツアーの中、ドイツのハンブルクで緊急入院し、心臓の手術を受けることになったのだ。ツアーの残りの公演はキャンセルされたほか、これ以降、新たな作品発表やメディアでの露出も次第に減っていった。
 


 
 2010年代に入ると、事実上の活動休止状態となり、デヴィッド・ボウイ引退説まで囁かれるようになっていた。そんな中、2013年1月8日、66歳の誕生日、そういった類の噂話が全くの誤りであることがわかった。
 


 
 ◆病魔に蝕まれる中での復活

 その後のボウイは、ブロードウェイミュージカル『LAZARUS』の制作準備に取り掛かるなど、精力的に活動しているように見えた。2016年1月8日、69歳の誕生日には、新たなアルバム『★（ブラックスター）』を発表するなど、勢いは留まるところを知らないかと思われた。
 


 
 しかし、その裏でボウイは自らの余命が幾ばくも無いことを知っていた。進行性の肝臓がん。病のことを知っていたのは、彼の周囲のごく僅かな人間だけだった。2016年1月10日、69歳を迎えた誕生日から2日後、ボウイはその生涯に幕を閉じた。

 死してなおボウイが注目され続ける理由。それは、こうした彼の貪欲さと、先見の明によるのではないだろうか。ニューウェーブであれ、インターネットであれ、時代を嗅ぎ分ける確実な嗅覚をボウイは備えていた。だからこそ、彼の作品は常に時代を先取りしていたのだろう。

 “I feel slightly miffed since [J.] Cole and I are great buddies, and I am quite skilled at rapping—if not the greatest ever,” he joked. “How come this is my debut appearance on the roster? It’s puzzling! They truly kept the best for the finale!”
 
 
 Although it’s Ab's inaugural performance at the North Carolina festival, he might have more chances to return to Raleigh in the future.

 (April 3), the organizers of the Raleigh event stunned attendees by announcing that Dreamville Fest would be making a comeback with a fresh twist down the line. This last hurrah—for the time being—holds particular significance for Ab, noting he "grew up alongside many prominent figures from Dreamville."
 
 
 These are truly my crew; Bas joined me on my inaugural headline tour, which is when I got acquainted with Earthgang, JID, Cozz, and everyone else," he stated. "Their talent can’t be questioned. They’re genuine MCs and authentic artists. Ari [Lennox] puts on an incredible performance too. Dreamville Fest must feel like a lifelong aspiration realized for both Cole and countless individuals around here. It’s an honour to have been invited today.

 In the caption of an Instagram post hinting at his upcoming collab with Roc Marciano and celebrating Doeburger’s birthday (April 1st), Ab sent out a special shoutout to Cole, expressing gratitude towards the “Middle Child” rapper for offering his viewpoint. He penned, "Appreciate your insights Cole; they were very necessary." This message also elaborated on what the new track signifies for him. "I must make sure everyone understands the profound effect my brother had on me as well as countless others. My intention wasn’t just about gaining more followers or making money; instead, it was all about paying tribute to someone who truly stood apart—undeniably one-of-a-kind."
 
 
 Concluding his post, Ab-Soul stated: "Soul Burger: The Odyssey… Stay tuned." Although the specifics remain ambiguous, Ab assures confirmation soon.

 Candace Cameron Bure mentioned that the producers of "The Masked Singer" approached her four times before she eventually agreed to participate in the popular Fox singing show. Despite being eliminated during her initial appearance (as "Cherry Blossom"), the former "Full House" star shared this information with

 Cameron Bure stated, “I often advise my children that when they get the chance for something but feel scared about it, they should go ahead since it presents a valuable learning experience and helps boost their self-assurance,” she shared. “In fact, I believe I had to follow my own counsel, which is why I ultimately decided to say yes.”
 
 
 Regarding the cherry blossom question, nobody chose correctly. Rita Ora suggested it wasJessica Biel. Robin Thicke believed it wasTracey Goldfrom "Growing Pains." Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg identifiedJennie Garth. Meanwhile, Ken Jeong pickedTina Fey.
 
 
 Cameron Bure acknowledged that both her husband and daughter motivated her to participate in "The Masked Singer," despite her limited background in singing. She mentioned, “My nature tends toward being meticulous, which means I usually avoid activities where I lack proficiency.” However, their encouragement played a significant role. Additionally, after multiple invitations from the show’s producers, she felt compelled to accept. It was somewhat like reaching out numerous times until one can’t ignore them anymore; hence, she thought accepting would put an end to those repeated requests: 'Alright, I should just go ahead and tackle this.'
 
 
 The celebrity revealed that "The Masked Singer" offers big TelePrompTers to assist with remembering lyrics, and the Cherry Blossom outfit was quite manageable to move around in.
 
 
 She mentioned, 'I actually had a great experience after I started performing.' She explained, ‘The whole show feels like a giant guessing game. When they announced me as the first from my group, I felt extremely disappointed.’ She expressed her desire for another week so she could have savored the second week even more. However, despite this, she confessed that she still thoroughly enjoyed it all and was very pleased with herself for participating.
 
 
 After performing "Let's Get Loud" by Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Bure was eliminated from the competition. She had intended to perform "Dirty Pop" by *NSYNC the following week. In the subsequent episode titled "'90s Week," she could have showcased her best talents ideally.
 
 
 “We genuinely received an adorable set of materials that was intended for Robin since Robin and I were childhood buddies,” she explained. “He mentioned during the show that we dated briefly, about a week long when we were either 12 or 13 years old. We had crushes on each other back then. Therefore, performing for 90s Week would’ve been incredibly enjoyable.”
 
 
 In season 13 of "The Masked Singer," Candace Cameron Bure appears as Cherry Blossom alongside James Van Der Beek as Griffin, Flavor Flav as Space Ranger, Sheana Shay as Bat, Aubrey O’Day as Ant, Oscar de la Hoya as Fuzzy Peas, and Cedric the Entertainer as Honey Pot when they reveal their identities.
 
 
 The event "Carnival Night" initiated the matches for Group C, concluding with two additional competitors advancing to the "Lucky Six." Up until now, this group encompasses the victors from Group A—Coral and Paparazzo—and those from Group B—Pearl and Boogie Woogie.

 Additionally, there’s now “Crack the Case,” where extra hints are provided regarding contestants who have been ruled out. In relation to Cherry Blossom, the hint was a button—this directed viewers to a clip featuring Joey Fatone (also known as the Rabbit). He mentioned knowing Cherry Blossom from her days in the conventions during the '90s; she is associated with one of the era's most renowned television dynasties.
 
 
 In "The Masked Singer" Season 13, viewers can look forward to franchise tributes featuring both "Shrek" and "Ghostbusters," along with an homage to the Grand Ole Opry celebrating its centennial year. Additional theme nights will honor the Rat Pack and explore concepts like "Voices of Olympus: The Unmasking of Deities," "Carnival," "Boy Bands," "Decades," "Lucky 6 Speed Guessing," a special event called "Clash of the Masks," and the recurrence of "Soundtrack of My Life."
 
 
 In Season 13, the masked contestants consist of Honey Pot, Space Ranger, Cherry Blossom, Coral, Fuzzy Peas, Ant, Paparazzo, Griffin, Boogie Woogie, Pearl, Bat, Yorkie, Stud Muffin, Nessy, and Mad Scientist Monster.
