American disc golfer Abigail Wilson is speaking out against transgender participants in women's athletics.
The previous week, during the 2025 MVP Music City Open held in Nashville, Tennessee, Wilson approached the tee box ready to make her throw but suddenly halted. She stated that she would not participate due to her refusal to compete against transgender athlete According to the New York Post, Natalie Ryan allegedly exclaimed, "We need to protect females in our division!" She then went on to say, "This isn’t fair. I won’t participate!"
That evening, Wilson posted on Instagram expressing her anxiety about competing against "male athletes" because of the terrorist threats made during the previous year’s competition. These threats had affected Ryan and led to a temporary suspension of the event.
Wilson stated in her posting that no security measures were implemented this year, an assertion refuted by the Disc Golf Pro Tour (DGPT), co-organizer of the event along with the Professional Disc Golf Association. In a subsequent post, Wilson clarified that she did not receive financial remuneration for her demonstration, stressing, “This isn’t about money; it’s about conveying a message.”
Wilson's boycott occurs just days following USA Fencing disqualifying Stephanie Turner for declining to participate in a match against Redmond Sullivan, a trans woman, who was considered an eligible competitor during the Cherry Blossom Open in Maryland, as reported by Fox News Digital.
