Wednesday afternoon saw hail pelting down rapidly in Ben Avon.

Almost all of the vehicles on Flaccus Road were damaged as intense storms passed through, bringing down hailstones as large as ping-pong balls.

It appeared as though it was snow," Bill Garrison stated. "Hail the size of golf balls, and I have never witnessed anything akin to it.

The man's SUV was covered with numerous dents. He had purchased this car only a couple of weeks earlier with plans to drive it down to Florida soon. This new vehicle was meant to replace another one that had been totaled during a hurricane.

Hail is quite an uncommon occurrence, and although it may seem fascinating at first, you quickly become concerned as you notice your vehicle being damaged.

Garrison estimated he suffered thousands of dollars worth of damage. Channel 11 drove up and down Flaccus and neighboring streets and noticed that just about every vehicle had dents from the hail.

“People are dealing with a lot of stuff, so this is not the worst thing that can happen,” Garrison said. “It’s just one of those things you don’t expect.”
