Opening batter Matt Renshaw expressed his enthusiasm for the Brisbane Heat’s upcoming prospects as he inked a fresh three-year contract with the team in the Big Bash League.

Southpaw Renshaw spearheaded Brisbane's batting onslaught last season, amassing 280 runs at an impressive strike rate of 169.69.

His form was one of the few bright spots for the Heat, whose title defence ended in disappointment with a seventh-placed finish on the ladder.

"We didn't achieve the outcomes we desired last season following our successful 2023-24 campaign, yet there remains considerable groundwork to be laid," stated Renshaw.

They're a fantastic group of guys, and I'm enthusiastic about what's coming up.

I personally found great satisfaction in pushing myself in the limited-overs games throughout the season, and my short-term objective continues to be enhancing my performance.

The Heat have additionally brought aboard batsman Lachlan Hearne and batting all-rounder Hugh Weibgen for their team.

Hearne — who is also part of the Queensland Bulls team — and Weibgen previously competed in the BBL; Hearne for the Sydney Sixers while Weibgen represented the Sydney Thunder.

The CEO of Heat, Terry Svenson, stated that Weibgen was considered a "top priority" signing.

"Hugh attracted significant interest from several clubs following his performances with the Thunder, and since he is a Queenslander, we were eager to bring him aboard for the Heat," Svenson stated.

“Likewise, Lachy Hearne has made every post a winner in Queensland since making the big decision to pack up and move from Sydney after missing out on a NSW contract.”

The Heat has now filled 13 of its contracted 18 spots for next season.

Heat squad (to date) : Xavier Bartlett, Max Bryant, Lachlan Hearne, Spencer Johnson, Usman Khawaja, Matt Kuhnemann, Nathan McSweeney, Colin Munro, Michael Neser, Jimmy Peirson, Matthew Renshaw, Callum Vidler, Hugh Weibgen.
