The segment between Anuradhapura and Omanthai covers 63 kilometers; we initiated the upgrade works here in January 2023 and completed them by July of the same year. Following this, our focus shifted to the section extending from Maho to Anuradhapura, measuring at 65 kilometers. This part’s construction began in January 2024," he stated.
"When we completed it in September 2024, this line of credit, provided by the Government of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, came to an end. The previous track structure was in poor condition due to its age, with numerous damaged rails as well," he stated.
