SCHENECTADY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) – The Schenectady-Saratoga Symphony Orchestra (SSSO) and the Octavo Singers of Schenectady are preparing for a performance of Verdi’s Requiem on Sunday, April 13 at Proctors in Schenectady.

The Messa da Requiem by Guisseppe Verdi was born in the 1800s as a Catholic funeral mass. During the Holocaust, the Requiem was reportedly performed approximately 16 times between 1943 and 1944 by prisoners at a concentration camp, known as Terezín.
