
Netflix ’s haunting four-part drama Adolescence is the show on everyone’s lips around the world.
Not only has it garnered rave reviews from critics and endless praise for its unique one-take style , but it’s even beginning to spark political change with calls for the series to be shown in schools.
Written by Jack Thorne, the series has shone a light on British talent such as Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty, as well as teenage sensation Owen Cooper who is sensationally performing in his initial real paid acting role .
Nevertheless, as "Adolescence" keeps gaining popularity worldwide and becomes the top-streamed show of the week on Netflix in 71 nations, it has caused fans of Charlie Brooker’s "Black Mirror" to notice an interesting point.
When Black Mirror First launched on Channel 4 in 2011 with its controversial "The National Anthem" episode, which revolved around a Prime Minister and a pig, audiences were captivated by its bold social critique of British society.
However, once Netflix acquired the series before its third season, it began to incorporate more big-name celebrities like Salma Hayek and Aaron Paul starting from Season 6.

@StephyBx_ commented on X about a post detailing Cooper's debut performance, stating, "Black Mirror is becoming frustrating because there's so much talent available, particularly in the UK."
Another user, @Ok0rie_, chimed in below, reinforcing this sentiment with: 'It started going downhill once Hollywood became involved.'
Underneath Netflix's trailer posted on March 13, @MrLewisVuitton asserted that the series was superior "when it was British and featured rising stars."
A fourth user, @PanicStation26, commented: "I'm looking forward to the new Black Mirror episode, but I must say I quite enjoyed the earlier seasons with their lineup of mostly B-list and less famous British and Irish actors. There was something special about it."
Another contribution from @abcdrih stated: “I believe one reason why #BlackMirror was so disturbing was because at first, many of the cast members were relatively unheard of. This lent an air of authenticity, making it seem as though these events could occur to anybody.”

A sixth individual, identified as @DottyShellz, elaborated that although 'the production quality' has improved over time, 'it feels far less genuine'.

The sequel will feature Will Poulter returning as Colin Ritman, the employee of an '80s video game firm, from the 2018 interactive film "Bandersnatch" which is part of the series "Black Mirror."
Adolescence can be streamed on Netflix. The seventh season of Black Mirror is set to premiere on Netflix on April 10.
