Twenty-two businesses in the beverage production sector have been honored with multiple awards at the 9th event. th The Ghana Beverage Awards recognize exceptional achievements and contributions to the development of the beverage sector within the nation.

Since 2017, the Ghana Beverage Awards (GBA) has been orchestrated by the Global Media Alliance, providing an energetic stage for professionals within the sector along with key participants. This initiative aims to foster excellence and significantly contribute to upholding top-tier standards in creation and distribution.

Bel-Cola was named Product of the Year 2024 and won the title of Beverage Sustainability Champion, whereas KOA Natural received recognition as the leading local beverage brand.

Other categories encompass Brewery of the Year, liqueur of the year, water of the year, manufacturing company of the year, amongst others.

At the award event held in Accra with the theme "Fostering Excellence, Boosting Local Industries," Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, emphasized the importance of cooperation among the drink manufacturing, hospitality, and tourism sectors to create a robust and enduring industry.

She highlighted that the beverage sector in Ghana serves not just as an emblem of innovation and enterprise, but also significantly contributes to employment generation, enhancing product value, and boosting tourism.

They embody the tastes of our regions and showcase the creativity of a fresh wave of entrepreneurs who are distinctly Ghanian yet internationally aspirational. As we strive to establish Ghana as an attractive hub for tourism, commerce, and cultural discovery, we view these local drinks as essential components in providing an genuine and authentic encounter.

"We at the tourism ministry recognize and value the connection between the beverage sector and our tourism and hospitality industries. These drinks, particularly those produced in Ghana, narrate a tale about our country, its traditions, and its inhabitants," she emphasized.

Ernest Boateng, CEO of the Global Media Alliance, stated that the awards ceremony aims not just to acknowledge outstanding achievements but also to foster a thriving beverage industry environment.

He stated that GBA will continue to serve as a key driver in backing local brands, fostering consumer confidence to establish new avenues for beverage entrepreneurs and professionals to gain visibility both within Ghana and internationally.

As she expressed gratitude to the nominees and awardees for significantly boosting Ghana’s economy, Emma Wenani, Chief Director at Global Media Alliance, stated that the organization would keep acknowledging the vital role beverages play in the country’s sector. She also emphasized promoting vigorous yet fair competition amongst all parties involved.
