  • Matt Short and Madi Wilson tie the knot following their recent role as new parents.
  • The athletic pair shared their joyful update online.

Australian cricket star Matt Short and Olympic swimmer Madi Wilson have officially tied the knot, rounding out an exhilarating few years for the sports personalities.

The athletic duo, who got engaged 18 months back, finally exchanged vows during a picturesque wedding over the weekend.

Wilson, who has won four Olympic medals in swimming, posted a video on social media showing the pair hugging at the seaside with the comment: ' Married..'

Last August, the couple thrilled their supporters by announcing the healthy birth of their newborn son, Austin.

"Our tiny Aussies have arrived, and we're over the moon," the pair shared.

In January, Wilson made an official announcement regarding his retirement from competitive swimming via Instagram.

Seventeen years since I joined my initial junior Australian Swim Team, it’s challenging to express in words the emotions I have as I announce my formal retirement today," she shared on Instagram.

'The majority of the past twenty years, swimming has been central to both my lifestyle and who I am.'

'I've had an amazing yet tough and fulfilling journey, and I am immensely proud of the person I have turned into and all that I accomplished during my tenure as an Australian representative.'

I recall being a young girl myself, greatly motivated by the athletes I saw on television. I aspire to have been an equal source of inspiration and a positive example for those who are following in my footsteps now.

I feel sorrowful yet prepared to conclude this chapter of my life and embrace whatever comes next. Transitioning from a timid rural maiden to heading the Australian Swimming Team, I never could have imagined a better journey.

'I want to express my gratitude to all those who shaped my career; you have been instrumental in making me the person I am today.'

In 2023, Wilson experienced a concerning health issue after being diagnosed with multiple tumors in her breast.

"I've received numerous messages asking about why I am absent from camp right now alongside my dolphins," she penned at the time.

We discovered 4 tumors in my breast that required biopsy.

The tests showed that the tumors were non-cancerous, yet the swimmer stated that the ordeal remained "one of the scariest experiences I've had in my lifetime."

At the 2023 Australian Cricket Awards ceremony, Short and Wilson first showed off their romantic relationship. The swimmer was formerly involved with another athlete, Kyle Chalmers.

In 2021, Wilson grabbed attention when she was admitted to the hospital due to Covid-19 while competing in Italy for the International Swimming League.
