"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" is set to be transformed into a TV series for Amazon Prime Video.

The action/adventure movie, which came out in 2000, was adapted from the novel with the same title by Wang Dulu.

According to Variety The series' tagline states: "Set against breathtaking scenery and featuring incredible stunts, 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' tells the tale of Shu Lien and Mu Bai—two ill-fated fighters who grapple with an illicit romance alongside societal shifts. They must choose whether to uphold tradition or venture into a new era side by side."

Jason Ning is set to be the writer for this project. Additionally, he will take on an executive producer role alongside Ron D. Moore, Maril Davis, Johnny Levin, Roy Lee, Hong Wang, Qin Wang, and Ying Lou. The production company behind it all is Sony Pictures Television.

On Thursday, fans flocked to X to express their varied responses to the news, with several voicing discontent over what they perceive as a lack of creativity in Hollywood.

One person mourned on the former version of the app, 'Hollywood can’t produce anything original anymore...' Twitter .

Someone else chimed in, "This ought to be considered blasphemy."

Another person described the forthcoming episode simply as 'Disappointing.'

Some supporters took an optimistic view, seeing the update through a positive lens.

The film was helmed by Ang Lee and managed to earn approximately $214 million globally, with Michelle Yeoh taking on a leading part.

It received 10 Oscar nomination.

The book initially came out in the early 1940s.

Several additional literary pieces were inspired by the original work, such as "Crane Startles Kunlun," "Treasured Sword, Golden Hairpin," "Sword Force, Pearl Shine," and "Iron Knight, Silver Vase."
