Cristiano Ronaldo leads as the all-time highest scorer in professional football, nearing his primary objective of scoring 1000 goals throughout his career.

At every level of the game, he has proven to be an exceptionally skilled goalscorer. However, with certain managers, things just haven't aligned for him, whether due to lack of opportunity or not clicking with their tactics.

Here, we have looked into the six managers Ronaldo did not manage to score 10 goals below.

Laszlo Boloni

One of Ronaldo’s initial coaches at Sporting CP, Boloni held his position from July 2001 to June 2003.

Ronaldo debuted with the Portuguese team during the 2002-03 season, which was towards the end of Boloni’s tenure of 90 matches.

Under Boloni, the forward netted the initial five goals of his senior career — and just five overall for Sporting — prior to securing a transfer to Manchester United following a successful debut season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ronaldo might have faced a long wait before experiencing another brief tenure under just one manager again. His stints at Real Madrid and Juventus placed him under the guidance of several prominent figures, which was not surprising considering they had access to arguably one of the top players globally for extended periods.

However, upon Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford for his second stint with Manchester United, consistency seemed nearly non-existent.

He got signed by Solskjaer, who used to be his assistant. United teammate, and although he was highly productive during his time with him, scoring roughly 0.7 goals per match, Solskjaer coached Ronaldo just 13 times, resulting in the forward netting nine goals.

Michael Carrick

Interim manager Carrick assumed control following Solskjaer’s dismissal at the end of 2021, serving as a temporary measure until a permanent head coach could be appointed.

Consequently, he had the opportunity to collaborate with Ronaldo in just three matches—Ronaldo netted two goals against Arsenal in one game and secured a Champions League goal against Villarreal in another.

Erik ten Hag

After Solskjaer left, United appointed their first permanent manager, Ten Hag. Given their known disagreements, it comes as no surprise that Ronaldo struggled under his leadership.

Under Ten Hag, Ronaldo played in 16 matches but managed only three goals. Their disagreement led to the termination of Ronaldo’s contract with United, and he has attributed much of what happened at the club to Ten Hag.

He could likely have performed even better during his return to Old Trafford if he hadn’t been coached by Ten Hag, considering he didn’t face similar challenges when Ralf Rangnick was in charge, scoring 12 goals in 22 matches under the German manager.

Dinko Jelicic

Ronaldo has had several managers during his tenure at Al Nassr, with Jelicic overseeing only eight matches. In that period, the forward from Portugal participated in seven games and netted three times.

In Cristiano Ronaldo's career, there is just one manager against whom he has managed to score fewer goals.

Vitor Severino

Throughout his coaching career, Severino has never held complete control over a senior team, stepping in only for brief periods.

In his time at Al Nassr, he has overseen two matches, during which Ronaldo not only scored but also received a yellow card in one—specifically, a 3-2 victory against Al-Okhdood in the Saudi Pro League.

Severino holds the distinction of being the coach under whom the top goalscorer in football history has managed to score the least number of goals, although it appears unjust to attribute this to him since he was never actually his manager and has only overseen two of his matches.
