Gorey Youthreach has become one of the initial Youthreach centers in Ireland to be awarded the Belong To LGBTQ+ Quality Mark.

The Quality Mark zeroes in on four primary aspects of promoting well-being from an LGBTQ+ viewpoint; fostering an inclusive culture and setting for LGBTQ+, providing resources for an inclusive curriculum regarding LGBTQ+, cultivating inclusive relationships and collaborations with LGBTQ+, and backing inclusive policies and strategic plans for LGBTQ+.

The two-year initiative carried out by the team and participants at Gorey Youthreach proved highly successful. Being among the initial Youthreach centers nationwide to be awarded the Belongto Quality Mark, Priscilla Mullen from Gorey Youthreach had the honor of being a keynote speaker at the accreditation ceremony in Dún Laoghaire. Her motivational address stood out as a key highlight of this significant occasion.

In her address, Priscilla stated: "Each young individual ought to have a space where they feel secure, acknowledged, listened to, and embraced unconditionally. This is precisely what we sought to establish at Gorey Youthreach; our initiative marked significant progress towards turning this aspiration into an actuality. Embarking on this venture went beyond mere adjustments in policies or formalities. Instead, it posed a challenge for us as a facility, as teachers, and as people."

Youthreach is an educational program focused on training and work experience designed for students who leave school prematurely. This initiative takes place both inside and outside the traditional school environment.
