A Kenyan envoy has visited Margaret Nduta at the prison where she is held in Vietnam.

The team deployed by the Kenyan foreign mission had an audience with Nduta in the Ho Chi Minh City prison.

Kenya's Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing'oei issued an update on the wellness of the convicted Kenyan whose execution by the Vietnamese authorities was stayed after Nairobi's intervention to save her.

The 37-year-old was said to have been regaining consciousness from acute distress; the presence of the Kenyan mission might have been a positive pacifier for her.

"I'm pleased to inform you that our team from Bangkok has successfully obtained their travel visas and have arrived at Ho Chi Minh Prison in Vietnam, where Margaret Nduta is currently being detained. We can verify that despite her distress, Margaret is managing well and has received humane treatment," stated Korir.
