Main Dish

We love waffles both sweet and now savory! This easy and original recipe is perfect for using your potatoes :-) And as good news never comes alone, we decided to use these waffles to create a sandwich with cream cheese, salmon, and a hint of lemon. Something tells us that the whole family will love this step-by-step recipe below ;-)

Ingredients

For 4 waffles :

  • 10 oz potatoes
  • 2.5 oz double cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 Tbsp chopped chives

Filling (optional) :

  • 2 slices smoked salmon (or smoked trout)
  • 4 Tbsp cream cheese
  • 2 tsp lemon juice

Materials

  • 1 waffle iron
  • 1 blender

Preparation

  • Step 1:

    Mix the double cream, egg, salt, pepper, and chives. Add the flour and mix.

  • Step 2:

    Peel the potatoes and blend them finely. Add them to the previous mixture and mix.

  • Step 3:

    Finally, add the melted butter and mix well.

  • Step 4:

    Grease the waffle iron and let it preheat. When it's hot, pour the batter to make two waffles. Cook for 8 minutes.

  • Step 5:

    Your potato waffles are ready!

  • Step 6:

    To form your sandwich: Spread about 1 Tbsp of cream cheese on the waffles.

  • Step 7:

    Place a slice of smoked salmon on the waffle, drizzle with lemon juice. Close the sandwich with the second waffle spread with cream cheese.

  • Step 8:

    And there you are, your waffle sandwiches are ready!
