MANILA, Philippines — Rainy conditions are expected across the country on Saturday because of three different weather systems, as reported by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration ( Pagasa).
The northeastern monsoon known as amihan will primarily impact Luzon.
Northeast winds will dominate various areas across Mindanao as the impact of the troughline will be felt in Visayas and Palawan.
"Ang makapal na hangin ng northeast monsoon ay patuloy na nagdudulot ng epekto sa malawakangbahagi ng Luzon," wika ni weather specialist Benison Estareja.
(The impact of a powerful northeast monsoon persists across much of Luzon.)
"This will bring slightly cooler temperatures and light rain, particularly in the eastern and southern areas," he pointed out.
It will introduce mildly cool temperatures accompanied by light rainfall, particularly in the eastern and southern areas.
He highlighted that the easterly winds bring rain to a large part of Mindanao.
(The trade winds are bringing rainfall to most areas of Mindanao.)
"And above Palawan and Visayas, the amihan and easterlies converge, resulting in the continued formation of a shear line. This is the line where we experience heavy rainfall," he further explained.
(Above Palawan and the Visayas region, the amihan and easterlies are meeting. Due to this convergence, a shear line continues to develop. It is along this line that intense rainfall is occurring.)
READ: The rainy conditions in Cebu caused by the shear line might continue through Sunday.
Estareja also stated that no low-pressure area or tropical cyclone was observed within or beyond the nation's monitoring zone.
He mentioned that no storm signal warning was issued for any of the nation’s coastal areas.
