 In Hyderabad, SRH's prospects of making it to the playoffs in the 2025 IPL were dashed following the rain-affected match on Monday.
 
 
 The 55th match of the 18th season of the lucrative cricket league featuring the Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium had to be abandoned because the playing field became damp.
 
 
 Shortly after the Delhi Capitals finished their innings, rain started pouring heavily, with some drizzle preceding it.
 
 
 IPL announced via X that the game was canceled. "The Match 55 between @SunRisers and @DelhiCapitals has been postponed because of the waterlogged outfield. Each team will receive one point."
 
 
 Consequently, each team ended up with a single point. Hyderabad required two points to maintain their chances of making the playoffs. Their objective was a modest run chase of just 134 runs.
 
 
 Delhi still has opportunities to secure a playoff spot in their upcoming fixtures.  Both players controlled the Capitals' innings from there on. DC crossed the 100-run mark in the 17th over as Ashutosh slammed a boundary on the bowling of Unadkat.
 
 
 Stubbs and Ashutosh sealed their 50-run collaboration during the 18th over when Stubbs dispatched a shot off the bowling of right-handed ace Eshan Malinga for a boundary.
 
 
 Ashutosh Sharma (41 runs off 26 balls) was caught out and returned to the pavilion in the 20th over by Eshan Malinga.
 
 
 The Capitals concluded their innings with 133 runs for the loss of seven wickets, as Stubbs remained not out on 41* from 36 balls and Mitchell Starc was also undefeated at 1*.
 
 
 For the Hyderabad team, the standout performer with the ball was Pat Cummins, who took three wickets in his four-over stint, conceding only 19 runs throughout his bowling spell.

 Occasionally, the precipitation intensity might surpass multiple inches within an hour, leading to swift flash floods. In certain regions, over twelve inches of rain could accumulate throughout the span of five days.

 Floodwaters can rapidly turn hazardous and potentially deadly as the influx of moisture fills up local rivers, creeks, and streams. According to AccuWeather, major rivers anticipated to experience notable increases in water levels encompass the Ohio, Wabash, White, St. Francis, Kentucky, and Tennessee Rivers.


 National Weather Service (NWS) offices across the region have already issued numerous flood watches ahead of the storm. Flood watches are in place for Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi and parts of Oklahoma and Texas.

 "Ang makapal na hangin ng northeast monsoon ay patuloy na nagdudulot ng epekto sa malawakangbahagi ng Luzon," wika ni weather specialist Benison Estareja.

 "This will bring slightly cooler temperatures and light rain, particularly in the eastern and southern areas," he pointed out.


 It will introduce mildly cool temperatures accompanied by light rainfall, particularly in the eastern and southern areas.


 He highlighted that the easterly winds bring rain to a large part of Mindanao.

 "And above Palawan and Visayas, the amihan and easterlies converge, resulting in the continued formation of a shear line. This is the line where we experience heavy rainfall," he further explained.

 The IMD report highlights that a cyclonic circulation over southwest Madhya Pradesh is extending down to South Interior Karnataka, influencing wind patterns and contributing to moisture buildup. Additionally, a trough in the easterlies extends from the Comorin area to South Tamil Nadu, bringing moisture-laden winds from the east, which are expected to trigger rainfall in the region.


 Meanwhile, the IMD has also warned that high humidity, coupled with persistently high temperatures, could lead to uncomfortable weather conditions in some parts of the state. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure, and stay updated with weather forecasts for further advisories.

 The Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

 These severe thunderstorms may cause flash floods or landslides.


 State meteorologists also said winds will be strong while coastal waters will be rough over Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas.


 The rest of Luzon will experience moderate to strong wind conditions and moderate to rough coastal water conditions.


 Winds will be light to moderate while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the rest of the country.

 "With more extreme weather expected in the future, there might be more concentrated rainfall during rainy seasons, which will require higher drainage capacity for slopes," said Lawrence Shum Ka-wah, deputy head of the Geotechnical Engineering Office on Hong Kong Island.

 He mentioned that drainage systems can handle obstructions caused by leaves or twigs, however, severe weather conditions may exceed their capacity.


 On average, about 10 to 20 landslides took place annually on privately owned slopes over the last ten years, according to Shum, referencing a departmental assessment.


 Typically, around 30 to 60 percent of these issues stemmed from inadequate maintenance by property owners.


 He stated that the areas affected by landslides were influenced by the pattern of rainfall, noting that no particular district needed extra focus. However, he emphasized that upkeep would be the primary issue to address.


 Shum stated that authorities reported over 50 landslides on private slopes in 2023, during the year when a "once-in-500-years storm" hit the city. Of these landslides, 30 percent resulted from inadequate maintenance.

 The severe weather condition activated the city’s most extended black rainstorm alert, lasting over 16 hours. This transformed roads into waterways and left motorists trapped in their cars, along with inundating malls and train terminals. Over 100 individuals required medical attention at hospitals.


 Shum additionally pointed out to the owners that they could be responsible for maintaining adjacent land areas, even though these may not be mentioned in their land lease agreements.


 At present, roughly 2,500 artificial slopes situated on government-owned property are being cared for by the private owners of neighboring plots.


 Each year, the department chooses 100 individual ski slopes for safety inspections conducted by them.


 When individuals are classified as hazardous, the authorities issue a Dangerous Slope Order (DSO) to property owners with problematic slopes. This mandates that they conduct investigations and undertake required preventative measures using certified specialists.


 By 2023, 271 DHOs remained unimplemented by private property owners, as stated by Robert Cheng, who serves as the chief building surveyor at the Buildings Department.


 He urged the owners to keep their slopes maintained in order to avoid the risk of landslides.


 Cheng also mentioned that routine inspections of both the slopes and underground water pipelines were essential.


 The administration likewise provides assistance to proprietors encountering monetary challenges, including grants and financing options.
