World's Oldest Michelin-Star Restaurant Strips a Star

 Since 1981, the restaurant Georges Blanc in Vonnas, located in the Ain department, in the south-east of France, had three Michelin stars. After more than forty years, it has now lost its third star.
 


 No other restaurant listed in the famous
 
 Michelin Guide
 
 had held a star for such a long time.


 The restaurant
 
 Georges Blanc
 
 has been around for 153 years and received its first star in 1929 under the grandmother of the current chef, the 82-year-old Georges Blanc. It was only since 1926 that the Michelin Guide began awarding stars to high-class restaurants. In 1931, Blanc's grandmother, Élisa, also received the second star.


 On March 31st, the Michelin Guide will announce the new list of starred restaurants. Establishments that lose a star are informed earlier.

Beloved City Restaurant Closes Its Doors

Sam Prince, the owner of Hospitality Group, shared the news on social media with devoted patrons, explaining that their lease for Angel Place was coming to an end and it seemed like the appropriate moment to move on.


 He extended an invitation to his customers to partake in one final banquet to "mark ten years of operation, heartfelt welcome, and their remarkable community" prior to closing down after their last day of service on March 29.

 "This venue has served as much more than merely a dining spot; it has become a haven, a festive gathering, a location where numerous memories have been crafted through communal feasts and joyous moments," he stated.


 “As our journey comes to an end, the tale of INDU continues. We're assessing where we stand, planning for the future, and promise to keep you informed about what lies ahead.”


 Patrons expressed their dissatisfaction over the restaurant shutting down and pleaded with the owners to consider reopening at a different site.


 Susan Potthurst shared that she has been a big fan for many years and expressed her disappointment about the restaurant closing down.


 “I’ve reserved a table for dinner this coming Friday and I’m eagerly anticipating enjoying your delicious cuisine once more at George Street before saying goodbye. Hopefully, you’ll consider opening another location soon,” she mentioned.

 "Oh no! My favorite restaurant please reopen somewhere else. Your food is delicious! Thanks for all the wonderful dinners," Ess Far commented.


 “I’ll really miss you,” Arishma Singh stated.


 The restaurant draws inspiration from Mr. Prince’s Sri Lankan roots, reflecting both his cultural background and his mother’s culinary skills.


 According to its website, Mr Prince joined forces with Melbourne-based entrepreneur Ian Hicks to establish SPHG.


 The hospitality company also runs several well-liked eateries in Sydney such as Mejico located in Surry Hills and Kid Kyoto situated in the CBD.
