The rock group suddenly concluded their performance at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo held at the NRG Stadium on Friday evening when an electrical blaze led to their sound system shutting down during one of their iconic hits.
Video In case you missed it, guitarist Neal Schon shared footage where vocalist Arnel Pineda was captured delivering some of the track’s standout lines—“A singer in a smoky room / The scent of wine and inexpensive perfume / A grin they could share throughout the night”—until the audio equipment and giant screens failed. This left the crowd to carry on unaided with “It goes on and on and on and on.”

"Yesterday evening at the Houston TX Rodeo, we experienced an incredible turnout with nearly 79-80 thousand fans packing the venue to watch our performance!" Schön wrote on Instagram The sole downside was that following an impressive beginning, the Rodeo experienced an electrical malfunction which led to a fire breaking out beneath the stage.

He went on, "Thanks, Houston, for performing 'Don’t Stop Believin’' just as we were forced offstage due to an electrical fire and couldn’t come back. It was really tough on our fans, and although I wanted to perform again tonight to compensate, they weren’t able to arrange it. So here’s to seeing everyone next time...—With Love and Respect."

Official Houston Rodeo social media accounts also reported an "electrical incident under the stage" that prompted the show's conclusion. "We regretfully announce the cancellation of tonight's Journey concert," the Rodeo's post read. "We sincerely apologize to all fans for this disappointment. Our team is working diligently to assess the situation, and we will provide updates regarding rescheduling options and refunds as soon as possible."
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to representatives for Journey and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for further comment.

Local NBC affiliate KPRC reported that Journey's members left the stage in the middle of "Don't Stop Believin'" and did not return, and that officials inspected the area around the drum kit while holding fire extinguishers.
The Rodeo has verified that its planned events will proceed as scheduled on Saturday. "We will provide additional details shortly for those who were at the Journey concert," the organization stated. shared on social media.
