Greenland's Prime Minister has unleashed on the Trump administration after learning that second lady Usha Vance's friendly visit would be preceded by a delegation of senior officials .

The administration touted Vance's three-day visit to Greenland on Sunday, revealing she would travel with her son from Thursday to Saturday to explore historical and cultural sites and watch the annual dogsled race.

However, fewer details were shared regarding a trip headed by National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, said to be occurring at an earlier point during the week.

When Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute B. Egede found out about the consecutive visits, he became furious and expressed his anger in a statement to the local press.

"We have reached a point where her visit can no longer be described as an innocuous appearance by a politician’s spouse," he stated.

"What is the role of the national security adviser in Greenland? The sole intention is to demonstrate power over us.

'He is Trump's confidential and closest advisor, and his presence in Greenland alone will certainly make the Americans believe in Trump's mission , and the pressure will increase after the visit.'

Trump has made no secret of his ambition to annex Greenland, which has long been linked to Denmark but has asserted a level of independence.

He sent his son Don Jr. in the wake of his election victory to scope out the world's largest island , and most recently questioned Denmark's authority over the land.

A vessel arrived at this spot around 200 years ago, apparently. People claim they have rights to it," Trump stated. "I'm not sure if that's accurate. In fact, I doubt it.

Referring to Greenland, he mentioned: "I believe we're going to get it Somehow or another, we'll manage to obtain it.

As a result, all five political groups in Greenland's legislature released a collective declaration. slamming the remarks.

Although Don Jr. asserted that people ‘adore America’ and ‘support Trump’, relationships seem to have reached an all-time low due to the administration’s ‘extremely forceful’ approach towards annexing Greenland into the United States.

Mette Frederiksen, the prime minister of Denmark, likewise released a statement regarding the imminent visits.

Ms. Frederiksen stated, "The US visit should not be viewed separately from the public comments that have been issued." She added, "We consider this matter with great seriousness."

Waltz will be accompanied by Energy Secretary Chris Wright, with the pair apparently set to visit a military installation, as reported by two anonymous sources.

A representative for Waltz mentioned that the trip was aimed at collecting information and experiencing the local culture.

'The United States has a vested security interest in the Arctic region, and it should not be a surprise the national security adviser and secretary of energy are visiting a U.S. space base,' National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes told the New York Times.

He said the duo would 'get firsthand briefings from our service members on the ground.

We eagerly anticipate immersing ourselves in Greenland’s renowned hospitality and believe that this trip offers a chance to strengthen relationships that honor Greenland’s autonomy while promoting economic collaboration.

'This is a visit to learn about Greenland, its culture, history and people.'

In a quick video on the upcoming trip posted to social media, Usha Vance said she hopes the U.S.-Greenland relationship 'will only grow stronger' in the future.

She and her son will watch the Avannaata Qimussersu dog sled race during their trip. The US is a sponsor of the race where 444 dogs and 37 mushers will compete.

'I look forward to meeting many of you soon and to learning from you about your beautiful land, culture and traditions,' she said.

As reported by local media outlets, U.S. officials contacted Malik Berthelsen, who serves as the mayor of Qeqqata in Greenland, to arrange a meeting with Vance.

The reports indicate that Berthelsen rejected the request, referring to the continuous election campaigns.

"I can verify that an American delegation has reached out to me and requested a meeting," Berthelsen stated. TV2 Denmark .
