Due to the inability of South Sudan's transitional government to accommodate the return of its repatriated citizens, the United States is canceling visas for individuals holding passports from South Sudan.

The US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Saturday that he is moving forward with measures to cancel all visas currently held by individuals from South Sudan and intends to impose restrictions on issuing new ones to stop them from entering the United States.

Rubio stated on social media that the rationale behind the relocation is the inability of South Sudan's transitional government to promptly accept the return of its repatriated citizens.

"Effective immediately, I am revoking all visas issued to individuals holding passports from South Sudan and halting future issuances to stop entries into the U.S., as South Sudan’s transitional government has failed to promptly facilitate the return of its repatriated citizens," Rubio stated in his writing.
