When choosing items to pack for an Alaskan trip in June or July, remember that although daytime temperatures can climb into the 80s, mosquitoes may feast voraciously upon exposed areas at this time. However, when preparing for an August journey, we noticed fewer mosquito nuisances as well as cooler weather allowing us to comfortably opt for light trousers instead of risking getting too hot in shorts. For future summer cruises in Alaska, particularly around July, you'll find myself not including shorts among recommended attire.

 And they were incredibly convenient! Days in Alaska are bustling and energetic, so you likely won’t feel like pausing for a leisurely seated meal.

 To prepare lunch during an activity, we used these containers to quickly assemble peanut butter sandwiches and baby carrots earlier in the day. We could then easily carry them for a picturesque drive, afloat excursion, kayak journey, extensive trek, or any other adventure.

 We're strong advocates of using reusable items, but we made an exception for plastic utensils. I used some individually wrapped ones that we typically get (but rarely use) from takeout orders, which turned out to be just what we needed. These even included napkins!

 We discovered that having an additional foldable bag was incredibly handy (in fact, we had two). This "hang-on" bag allowed us to remove all our extra outerwear and store it easily in the trunk for varying weather conditions. We also packed one more for

 additional layers. It was simply wonderful to have and occupied almost no space.

 La Gomera is the second-smallest of the island chain and is situated off the coast of Tenerife.

 'It's kind of crazy how close La Gomera is to the most touristy part of the Canary Islands, which is the south of Tenerife,' says Marek. 'It's just takes a short ferry ride to get to La Gomera but because there's very little flat land on the island, it prevents big cities from being constructed there.

<p class="mol-para-with-font">
 'So it naturally means it's on a smaller scale and it has very dramatic scenery. I loved staying in B&B's there and exploring the island by rental car. It has these very lush forests that feel like rainforests and they're amazing for hiking.'

 La Gomera boasts the highest density of forests among the Canary Islands and features a UNESCO World Heritage site: the Garajonay National Park. This park is home to ancient laurel woods and numerous subtropical flora species.

 Another favorite of Marek's among the Canary Islands is La Palma. This island has faced significant challenges due to an eruption.

 Marek believes that "each island has its own charm," yet he confesses that Tenerife is the one Canary Island he likes the least.

 He clarifies: "Being the island with the highest number of visitors, the southern part of Tenerife has become quite commercialized."

 'They showed interest in how our day was progressing and their presence truly made it pleasant for us.'

 Although Marek claims he never met unwelcoming individuals in the Canary Islands regardless of
