Dar es Salaam [Tanzania], April 14 (ANI): Companies including IdeaForge, Zen Technologies Limited, and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited joined various Indian enterprises at the Mini Defexpo held in Tanzania’s Dar es Salaam on April 13.

In an interview with ANI, Vishal, who leads business development at IdeaForge, mentioned that their company was present at the defense exhibition showcasing two of their main offerings—Switch and Netra. According to him, IdeaForge’s platforms have accomplished more than 650,000 missions and hold around 50 patents.

Regarding their involvement in Mini Defexpo, Vishal commented, “Our presence at this event in Tanzania marks the introduction of our two leading offerings—Switch and Netra. Both of these systems enjoy extensive adoption across various sectors such as military units, paramilitary groups, and civilians alike. They even support significant initiatives like Prime Minister’s prestigious scheme known as Swamitva Yojana. As an organization, we boast over 6,50,000 successful operations under our belt along with holding around 50 patents.”

"Our global ranking stands at third place for dual-use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). We have had numerous interactions with high-ranking officials from the Tanzanian Armed Forces. During one meeting, we informed the Minister—the Honorable Minister—that we aim to propose a national transformation strategy for Tanzania utilizing UAV technology. This decision stems from observing developments worldwide; people are increasingly embracing digitization. For instance, significant progress has been made in India, ranging from distributing smart properties and digital twins to inspecting power transmission lines and implementing military applications. With our technology, we believe we can bring about substantial changes in a nation like Tanzania," he emphasized.

On April 13, the Department of Defence Production, along with the Ministry of Defence and the Federation of Indian Chambers & Commerce Industry (FICCI), organized the Indian Mini Defexpo and an industry meet in Tanzania.

K Ramesh, the General Manager of the Helicopter MRO Division, mentioned that his organization, together with 22 other Indian enterprises, took part in the Mini Defence Expo. He noted that there has been considerable curiosity among attendees regarding equipment designed for maritime roles.

He stated, “Our purpose here is to participate in the Mini Defense Expo. This marks the third edition of the Mini DefExpo, featuring an Indian naval exhibit as well. It’s quite an impressive event. In this expo, we’re joined by 22 Indian enterprises along with numerous Tanzanian military personnel who’ve shown interest; representatives from both their Air Force and Army have stopped by. Among the offerings showcased include various aircraft types such as fighter jets—like the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA)—as well as several multi-role helicopters utilized within India’s navy, including models similar to the Sea Harrier known locally as MAR-3 MR. Additionally, there is a Do 228 aircraft designed primarily for coastal patrol missions. Furthermore, we display additional capabilities provided through our Dorniers aimed at enhancing surveillance efforts. In terms of rotorcraft, one notable entry includes a medium-lift utility helicopter capable of operating up to altitudes exceeding five miles—the LUH model—and another variant specifically tailored for combat scenarios labeled ‘Prachand,’ currently serving in the armed services under command of both the Indian Air Force and Army.”

"Individuals visited with the intention of gathering additional details regarding maritime machinery roles. We informed them that we possess both Dornier aircraft and Mk 3 MR Navy helicopters, which have also seen service within the Coast Guard. These assets are highly suitable for marine reconnaissance missions, proving extremely beneficial for their needs. They conveyed significant interest and mentioned they would return to us," he concluded.

Captain Sanjay Kumar, General Manager of Exports at Zen Technologies Limited, stated that their primary offering is simulators designed for armed forces training. Additionally, he discussed other items produced by the company, such as an anti-drone system.

He stated, "Zen Technologies Limited is a top-tier defense company in this nation specializing in simulations. Our primary offering consists of simulators designed for military training purposes. These simulators encompass various types including virtual ones and extend to live simulation scenarios. Additionally, we produce robust live firing ranges that come in containers and are highly durable. Among our other offerings, we provide an advanced anti-drone system. This particular system stands out as one of the finest available; it has not only been adopted by the Indian Armed Forces but is also utilized internationally."

"The system includes an array of sensors such as radar, radio frequency detectors, and cameras, which are all part of a unified operational display. It allows us to neutralize drones using both non-destructive and destructive methods. Additionally, we employ several types of destructive techniques for countering enemy drone defense mechanisms. Our equipment also features thermal imaging devices, optical sensors, and remotely controlled weapons systems. This encompasses our full spectrum of technological offerings," he explained.

The defence expo was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth alongside Tanzania’s Defence Minister Stergomena Lawrence Tax.

On a post on X, Sanjay Seth wrote, "A significant milestone in defense collaboration between India and Tanzania! We launched the third iteration of 'Defense Expo' today alongside Tanzanian Defense Minister Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax. I also had the chance to explore several booths showcasing products from the defense industry at the expo."

"Twenty-two Indian firms are taking part in this Defense Expo, demonstrating the country’s increasing self-sufficiency in defense manufacturing, advanced technologies, and production capabilities. The event aims to highlight India's expanding prowess in the defense industry on an international stage," he noted. (ANI)
