  • Kia will use the New York Auto Show to introduce three new vehicles.
  • The company is playing coy, but they could be the EV3, EV4 and K4 Hatchback.
  • The electric variants should offer two battery packs and a 201 hp motor.

The New York Auto Show kicks off next week and Kia will use the event to introduce three “significant” vehicles. These range from a “sedan to SUV to something in between.”

The company didn’t have much else to say about the vehicles, but teased they’ll “span distinct model lines” and offer two fully electric powertrains. Furthermore, one of them promises to be a “sporty and versatile approach in the compact car segment.”

That’s pretty cryptic, but Kia released a teaser image of the US-spec EV4 sedan . The Korean model was unveiled earlier this year with 58.3 and 81.4 kWh battery packs that deliver a WLTP range of up to 391 miles (630 km).

The car is based on the E-GMP platform and features a front-mounted motor producing 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS). This enables the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in as little as 7.4 seconds. When the battery is low, it can go from a 10-80% charge in as little as 31 minutes.

As for the “something” in between a sedan and crossover, it’s presumably the K4 Hatchback . It was teased at last year’s New York Auto Show and follows in the footsteps of the popular sedan.

The compact sedan starts at $21,990 and has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 147 hp (110 kW / 149 PS). Customers can also opt for a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine developing 190 hp (142 kW / 193 PS) and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque.

The third and final model is an electric SUV. This one is a bit more mysterious, but it could be the EV3 The firm had earlier verified its presence in the U.S. market, and this crossover utilizes the same propulsion system as the EV4.
