 Először is találkozhassunk egy ilyen furcsa gondolattal: a populációs siker mögött lehet genetika rejljen. Esetleg nem hisznéd el, de a Harvard-i kutatók sok évig álldogáltak ezzel az elképzeléssel és végül arra jutottak, hogy az első emberi társadalomban az olyan tagok – akik például megértenek az élelmiszertermesztést vagy felismernék a melegen lógó fenyegetéseket – nagyon valószínű volt, hogy közepén játszanak szerepet. Ezek az emberek tehát termelték majd tovább gyerekeit, akik egyszerűen csak többen kívánták volna legyenük. Ez azt jelenti, hogy a mai napon annyi népek van, akinek a génjeivel kapcsolatos előnyös tulajdonságainkat örököltem, amire mi magunk sincsenek stimmelhetoek. Természettelenül érdekes dolog, ugye? De mindez alapján továbbra semmerült ki pontos okokkal, így a kutatóknak még rengeteg dolgot kell tanulnianak ennek teljes történetéből.
