 Dotel passed away en route to the hospital following his rescue from the debris of the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo. This information was shared by Juan Manuel Méndez, who serves as the director of the National Emergency Operations Center, during an interview with CNN.

 WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Padres managed to secure victory despite playing under challenging conditions where they lacked several key elements.


 With three of their six key offensive players spectating, the Padres managed to get at least one runner into scoring position during seven out of nine innings and scored runs in two of those innings before securing a 2-1 win with Randy Vásquez and the backend of their bullpen closing things out against the Athletics on Wednesday.


 Xander Bogaerts crossed home plate both instances — first during the third inning when Oscar Gonzalez hit a single, and again in the fifth inning due to a sacrifice fly by Gavin Sheets.


 These were the Padres' cleanup hitter and fifth batter, respectively, since second baseman Jake Cronenworth, center fielder Jackson Merrill, and right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. were all out due to injuries.


 Trouble arose for Vázquez only when he issued free bases and completed five innings, permitting one run on one hit prior to being substituted. He had thrown merely 61 pitches and went through the Athletics' lineup twice during this stint.


 Given that his high-impact relief pitchers were well-rested and they had a break on Thursday, Padres manager Mike Shildtm opted to utilize his bullpen for securing the one-run advantage through the last four innings.


 That’s exactly what they’ve been doing all season long.


 Adrián Morejón pitched a flawless sixth inning, followed by Jeremiah Estrada throwing a perfect seventh. Jason Adam then maintained the shutout with a quiet eighth, and Robert Suárez secured a clean ninth for his league-best sixth save. This marked his sixth consecutive hitless frame to begin the season, an unprecedented feat among San Diego Padres pitchers.


 These four relief pitchers have only appeared in games won by the Padres this season. Notably, no reliever for the Padres has allowed a lead to be overturned so far this season.


 This marked the Padres' fourth come-from-behind win, and they extended their record to 5-0 in one-run contests.


 Despite this, their MLB-leading 10th win in 13 games stood out from the rest due to those who were absent and those who stepped up.


 Merrill, who occupied the fourth or fifth batting position during the initial 10 games of the season and currently tops the Padres in nearly all offensive statistics, sat out the third game of what will amount to at least nine games sidelined due to a strained right hamstring.


 Tatis, who bats at the top of the order but ranks second to Merrill in nearly all offensive stats, was benched following his exit from Tuesday’s contest due to discomfort in his left shoulder that he initially felt during a swing.


 Cronenworth, who has primarily batted fifth or seventh with an on-base percentage of .409, was also sidelined. After swinging exacerbated the injured region on his right side—where he had been struck by a pitch two days prior—he left Tuesday’s game.


 It was mentioned that both Tatis and Cronenworth had reached a stage where they might realistically be ready to come back on Friday for the game against the Rockies at Petco Park. According to Shildt, although Tatis was an option as a pinch hitter, they decided to let him rest for the day.


 When they were not present, Gonzalez took over in right field, Jose Iglesias played at second base, and Lockridge was positioned in center field.


 The Athletics jumped ahead with a score of 1-0 in the second inning when Vásquez's control wavered, just as it had at times throughout his three appearances this season.


 The right-handed pitcher required only six pitches to complete the first inning before walking Shea Langeliers with just four pitches at the beginning of the second inning, followed by JJ Bleday who was issued a walk after eight pitches.


 These two walks were his tenth and eleventh of the season, and they proved to be quite detrimental.


 Jacob Wilson’s hit to right field marked the first time a right-handed batter had gotten a hit off Vasquez in 16 at-bats this season. Following him up, Luis Urias smacked a fly ball to center field, and Langeliers narrowly beat out center fielder Brandon Lockridge’s throw to home plate.


 Vásquez (1-1, 1.72) would also retire the next eight batters in a row before issuing a walk to Urias with two outs in the fifth inning.

 5) The enthusiastic "Raffy! Raffy!" chants from a substantial group of Red Sox supporters when Rafael Devers came up to bat during the first inning were no accident. That game proved successful for him. He managed to reach base safely four times—first with walks in his initial two at-bats followed by singles in both the sixth and seventh innings. Over his past three matches, Devers has secured a total of eight bases-on-balls.


 6) It was intriguing to observe
 reserve catcher Carlos Narváez included in the lineup
 For the second consecutive day, he was teamed up with Buehler for the second start in a row for the right-hander. Manager Alex Cora stated that Narváez started instead of Connor Wong because Wong would be playing on both Saturday and Sunday.


 Narváez had a strong offensive performance, managing to reach base four times throughout the game. In the third inning, he added an insurance run by driving home Kristian Campbell with an RBI single following two outs.  faced the Los Angeles Dodgers in the series finale in a matchup that looked lopsided in the Dodgers’ favor. Two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell was on the bump for the Dodgers against injury replacement call-up Bryce Elder who has struggled since June of 2023.


 As it turns out, both starting pitchers lasted for less than half of the game, both pitching 4.0 innings.


 The Braves come up to hit first and for the second night in a row scored on an error to take the 1-0 lead. Ozuna and Olson each walked which allowed Ozuna to score on a throwing error from Max Muncy. Nick Allen, who is slowly taking the starting job away from Orlando Arcia, hit a double to make the score 2-0 before the top of the inning ended.


 Bryce Elder made a statement in his return in his first inning. He forced Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts to groundout and then struck out Teoscar Hernández on a sinker that painted the corner.


 The Braves kept the momentum going in the second. Newly acquired Stuart Fairchild reached on an ugly error by Max Muncy (his second in as many innings) to get the ball rolling. He then moved to second on a wild pitch followed by a bunt single from Eli White. Ozzie Albies then came through in a big way with a double to make the score 3-0. Ozuna then walked to load the bases. Austin Riley struck out, but fortunately Matt Olson had a double of his own to plate two and make the score 5-0. Bryan De La Cruz almost came through with a 105.5 MPH rocket off the bat, but it was hit right at Mookie Betts.

 In the subsequent innings, Bryce Elder faced less fortune. He began by walking Michael Conforto. Despite inducing a flyout from Will Smith, Elder conceded a home run to Tommy Edman, extending the lead to 5-2. However, he managed to regain composure afterward, promptly forcing two consecutive groundouts.


 In the third inning, the Braves were unable to score as they went down 1-2-3. Elder returned to pitch the third and seemed much more composed. He struck out Andy Pages and followed up with a flyout against Ohtani and a groundout against Betts.


 The Braves seemed poised to make some progress in the fourth inning. Following a White flyout and an Albies strikeouts, Ozuna secured another walk, which was then accompanied by a Riley single. Nonetheless, Olson couldn’t step up as the key player this time around and grounded out, effectively closing their attempt. This sequence proved sufficient to conclude Snell’s outing for the evening. By the end of his performance, Snell had conceded five runs along with four walks. Notably, however, due to fielding errors, all five runs remained unearned.


 It was evident that Bryce Elder was tiring in the fourth inning. Although he managed to strike out Hernández once more, things took a turn for the worse thereafter. Conforto launched a solo home run, making the score 5-3. Following this, Elder surrendered a single to Will Smith and subsequently issued a base on balls to Tommy Edman. Fortunately, he was able to retire the following batters. By the end of the fourth inning, Elder had concluded his evening having allowed three hits, three earned runs, walked three, and recorded six strikeouts.


 In the fifth inning, the Braves experienced another three-up-three-down situation as De La Cruz and Nick Allen both struck out consecutively. When Enyel De Los Santos took over pitching duties, he immediately hit the first batter faced. However, he managed to recover from this setback when Ohtani subsequently singled but Betts then grounded into a double play thanks to a liner caught by De Los Santos, which led to an exchange of throws resulting in Pages being tagged out at third base. Finally, Hernández swung out for his strikeout.


 During the sixth inning, Chadwick Tromp started things off with a walk after Snell had left the game. With Eli White being substituted by Michael Harris at this point, Harris hit a single, putting runners on base without any outs recorded yet. Next, Albies also got a single, filling the bases for their team without recording an out as well. So here’s the question: Did the Atlanta Braves manage to score during this frame? Not quite; Ozuna flew out to center field, followed by Austin Riley striking out, and finally, Matt Olson hitting a pop-up to shortstop ended the threat.


 Pierce Johnson entered the game for the Braves next. After walking his initial hitter, he managed to fan Will Smith. Following this, Tommy Edman smacked a single right at Stuart Fairchild. Fairchild responded with an exceptional throw to third base, securing the out via an outfield assist. Finally, Dylan Lee took over and concluded the frame with a strikeout.


 Previously with the Braves, pitcher Kirby Yates entered the game for the Dodgers in the seventh inning. Once more, the Braves aimed to secure additional runs. Both players hit ground balls before Jarred Kelenic swung strikeout three, thus concluding the top of the ninth inning.


 Despite any rationale, Brian Snitker decided to keep Raisel Iglesias in the contest even though he had faced difficulties in the preceding frame. Although he managed to strike out Andy Pages, Shohei Ohtani emerged as the standout player for the Dodgers when he smashed a solo home run, securing victory for his team with an exciting finish in the last half-inning of the ninth.  There isn't really such a concept as a crucial match in early April. Playing just five games doesn’t provide sufficient basis for evaluating a team. Nonetheless, during this particular game, there were instances when the situation felt critical.

 Next up were Pete Alonso, Luis Torrens, and Huascar Brazobán, who weighed in before the Mets secured an intense victory over the Marlins in Miami with a score of 6-5.


 Early in the game, the Mets scored against Connor Gillispie thanks to a hit from Juan Soto followed by a double from Pete Alonso. This allowed Soto to make it safely home from first base despite some close calls and thrown-out attempts at tagging him as he slid past. However, they were unable to bring Alonso home from second base, which became a recurring pattern throughout this match.


 Clay Holmes began pitching for the Mets and faced difficulties, particularly during the second inning. With runners loaded and nobody out, the Marlins capitalized when Matt Mervis hit a sacrifice fly, driving in their initial run as Kyle Stowers advanced to third base. At first, the umpire ruled that Edwards was safe, which meant the Marlins took a 5-4 lead. Yet, after reviewing via replay, they reversed their decision, keeping things knotted. Subsequently, as Conine tried another stealing move, his effort fell short due to a strong relay from Torrens with support from a solid tag by Baty.


 The Mets were unable to score in the top of the ninth, and José Buttó prevented the Marlins from scoring in the bottom of that inning, leading the game to extend into extra innings. With Luisangel Acuña replacing Baty and serving as the automatic runner at second base, Tyrone Taylor hit a soft single to right field, putting runners on first and second with nobody out. Nevertheless, Torrens, Lindor, and Soto failed to capitalize, and the Mets remained without additional runs.


 The initial pitch delivered by Buttó was bunted by Fortes, advancing free runner Dane Myers to third base. A soft grounder by Eric Wagaman resulted in a tag at home plate for the second out. The inning concluded with Javier Sanoja popping out foul, surprisingly without any runs scoring.


 Xzavion Curry threw the eleventh inning for the Marlins, and Alonso started the frame by drawing a tough walk. Following this, Brandon Nimmo got a base hit which filled up the bases for Jesse Winker. Winker received another walk after getting four consecutive pitches, allowing Soto — who was the designated pinch-runner — to score and secure the lead.


 Next up was Mark Vientos, who hit what appeared to be an obvious double play; however, Edwards fumbled the ball, allowing Alonso to score and giving the Mets a 6-4 lead. Acuña then grounded into a 5-2-3 double play, followed by Taylor flying out to conclude the inning.


 The game had shifted into Danny Young's control, despite him appearing strained during his previous outing on Monday against Miami. During his second pitch, Young allowed Edwards to hit a single, which enabled the free runner Sanoja to score, narrowing the Mets' lead down to just one run. Following this, Young issued a walk to Stowers, placing runners at both bases with nobody out. However, Young managed to recover and recorded a strikeout against Conine, securing the first out before handing over the reins to Huascar Brazobán. Upon taking over, Brazobán forced a fly-out that prompted Edwards to advance to third base via tagging up.


 Lopez was the final chance for the Fish, yet he witnessed a called third strike on the edge of the plate for the third out. Brazobán secured his inaugural career save, the Mets clinched their initial series of the season, and everybody could finally breathe.


 The Mets will host the Blue Jays on Friday at their home opener. Tylar Megill is set to pitch for New York.

 「たまッチ！」は2007年から不定期放送されている野球バラエティー。番組開始からリーダーを務めていた中居正広氏（52）は1月に芸能界を引退したが、レギュラー出演していたお笑いコンビ「アンタッチャブル」の山崎弘也（49）と柴田英嗣（49）を中心に番組は存続し、昨年11月以来の放送となった9日深夜からこの日は3週連続の放送となった。


 そのなかで番組スタッフから単独インタビューされた様子がオンエアされたマエケン。不振だった昨季の悔しさや今季に懸ける思いなどを明るい表情で語った。


 現在までに日米通算165勝をマーク。200勝まであと35勝となっている。


 「僕は先発ピッチャーとしてキャリアを築いてきましたし、先発ピッチャーとして200勝したいっていう大きな目標もありますし。それは先発やってないとね、なかなか達成できないものだと思うので今後も先発ピッチャーとしてやっていきたいと思ってます。200勝達成する時は僕は日本で達成したいなっていつも言ってるんですけど。日本のファンの人の前でね、200勝達成できたら一番うれしいこと」


 200勝目は日本で。それは古巣であるカープで…なのか。スタッフが思い切って聞いてみると「言えないことのが多いですね」と笑顔。「全く分かんないんで。僕が自分でチーム決めるわけじゃないですし。オファーいただかないとプレーできないってのが野球選手だと思うんで。僕がね…ね…はい…決められることではないかなと思うんですけど。ただ、オファーもらえるような選手ではありたいなとは思いますし、チームの期待に応えられるような状態をキープできるようなピッチャーではありたいなと思っています」と古巣への思いをにじませていた。

 Según reportó FOX Sports: MLB, el Gerente General de los Orioles, Mike Elias, informó a los medios que Henderson comenzará la temporada en la lista de lesionados debido a una distensión intercostal. Esta noticia ha dejado a los fanáticos de Baltimore con un sabor amargo, ya que el infielder es una pieza clave en las aspiraciones del equipo para este año.

 Henderson, quien tuvo una temporada espectacular en 2024 con un promedio de bateo de .364, 37 jonrones y 92 carreras impulsadas, se ha convertido en el rostro de la nueva era de los Orioles. Su ausencia en el Opening Day representa un desafío significativo para el equipo, que esperaba contar con su poder ofensivo y versatilidad defensiva desde el primer día. La lesión, una distensión intercostal, ocurrió durante los entrenamientos de primavera y ha requerido un tiempo de recuperación más largo de lo esperado.


 Mike Elias explicó que la decisión de colocar a Henderson en la lista de lesionados es una medida preventiva. La ausencia de Henderson deja un vacío importante en la alineación de los Orioles.
