 지난 2월 인도네시아에선 만난 이들은 올해 한국 여행계획을 세우고 있다고 말했다. 가족과 또는 친구와 한국여행을 떠날 예정이라며 한국여행에 대한 기대감을 내비쳤다.


 이와 같이 한국 여행에 대한 관심을 보여주듯이, 올해 2월 방문한 외국인 tourists 수는 114만 명으로 집계되었으며, 이것은 코로나19 전과 비교하여 약 94.7%까지 돌아왔습니다. 작년 동기 대비로는 10.5% 늘어난 것입니다.


 한국관광공사의 '2025년 2월 한국관광 통계'에 의하면, 올해 2월에 한국을 방문한 해외 관광객 숫자는 총 113만8,408명이며, 이는 2019년 같은 기간과 비교했을 때 약 94.7%로 복구된 상태입니다. 또한 작년 동일 시기(약 103만 명)보다도 10.5% 늘었습니다.


 2월 한국을 가장 많이 찾은 국가는 중국으로, 34만1천명이 방문했다. 그 뒤를 이어 일본(22만4천명), 대만(12만명), 미국(7만2천명), 베트남(5만1천명) 등의 순이었다.


 특 biệt 일본에서 온 방문객들은 105.3% 증가하여 코로나 이전보다 더욱 많은 사람들이 한국을 찾아왔습니다. 중국에서는 2019년 동월 대비 75.2% 규모로 복구되었습니다.


 또 아중동시장이 코로나19 이전 2019년 동월대비 111.0%, 구미주시장은 106.7% 회복했다.


 전년 동월 대비 필리핀 관광객은 45.7%, 베트남 관광객 29.3%, 인도네시아 26.2%,  대만은 24.1%, 일본 22% 증가했고, 미국도 15.7% 늘었다.


 지난 2월 해외로 나간 우리 국민은 262만5634명으로, 전년동월보다 4.5% 증가했다. 이는 2019년 동월보다 0.3% 많은 것이다.

The organization's approach hinges on several mainstays such as ease of access, the wide array of Moroccan tourist attractions, and the increasing number of worldwide hotel chains establishing themselves within the nation.
 
 
 As part of their continuous initiatives, the ONMT aimed to enhance the appeal of Morocco’s and Africa’s tourism sectors via better aerial connections, varied tourist draws, and superior guest encounters.
 
 
 The attendees shared top-notch strategies and looked into chances for teamwork designed to bring new life to tourism throughout the continent. The talks, guided by specialists from within and outside the country, centered around key topics including building up infrastructures, using digital advancements in tourism, and encouraging eco-friendly and ethical trips across Africa.
 
 
 The ONMT mentioned that the workshop was designed to broaden internal African air connections, create shared promotional tactics, and encourage cooperation between various players in the tourism sector with the aim of presenting Africa as a cohesive and strong player in the international travel market.
 
 
 The gathering ended with several suggestions aimed at enhancing collaboration between African countries, increasing the region’s profile as an attractive tourist spot, and encouraging eco-friendly approaches in the industry.
 
 
 At present, tourism accounts for 7.3% of Morocco’s GDP, with earnings from this sector totaling $11.25 billion. The nation serves as an example of successful tourism growth in Africa due to factors such as its advantageous geographical position, increasing flight connections, and a varied array of tourist attractions—from historical sites to coastal holiday destinations.

 日本のビザ（査証）が人気を博している理由は、大半の欧州諸国がロシアとの直行便を禁止していることとや日本ビザの申請手数料がロシア人に対しては無料であることとされている。ウクライナ戦争への多額の政府支出がもたらした景気回復による実質賃金の増加を最大限に活用しようと、国民は欧州に代わる新たな旅行先を開拓している。


 モスクワに住むエリザヴェータ さんは「ずっと日本に行きたいと思っていた。ビザを取得する手続きが早かったことも後押しになった。最近は欧州へ行くのが難しくなっているが、日本のビザは4、5日で取得できる。日本に行くことに決めた」と話した。


 ロシア観光産業連合会のドミトリー・ゴリン副会長はこの状況について、日本で休暇を過ごすロシア人の数は昨年の約10万人から今年は倍増するだろうと予測する。ゴリン副会長は「第1にビザの取得が非常に簡単で、4、5日で発給され、しかも無料であるため、ビザに関する問題がない。唯一の問題は大使館での長い行列だが、今は日本旅行のハイシーズンだから無理もない。春に日本を訪れる人にとって、桜はおそらく最も人気のある象徴だろう」

 That is according to Government data showing the West Sussex town is one of the most popular places visited by foreign travellers.


 It ranked 15th on the Office for National Statistics (
 ONS
 ) list of destinations.


 That put it above
 Nottingham
 (16th), Robin Hood's homeland, and Aberdeen (17th), repeatedly a winner of the 'Beautiful Scotland' award.


 Crawley, which derives from the Anglo Saxon word 'crawe leah', meaning 'a crow-infested clearing', also beat out Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Reading and world-famous pilgrimage destination Canterbury.


 The results could be explained by Crawley being home to
 Gatwick
 Airport, a major international terminal used by millions of passengers.


 Crawley ranked 20th in a list of the worst places to live by a national newspaper.


 It sparked a staunch defence by The Argus, a local publisher in the Brighton region, who said it was a 'great place to live'.


 The ONS report, scored on the number of overnight visits made, excluded London.


 It said the capital attracted 20.3million overnight visits in 2023.


 Edinburgh, which topped its list, had 2.3m visits, according to the huge survey, based on answers from hundreds of thousands of interviewees.


 Manchester (1.7m) came in second and
 Birmingham
 (934,000) third.


 Liverpool (900,000) and Glasgow (685,000) rounded out the top five.


 Foreign residents made 38m visits to the UK in 2023, up from 31.2m in 2022.


 Spending also increased, leaping from £26.5bn in 2022 to £31.1bn.


 
 And, while visitor numbers remain lower than pre-pandemic levels, tourists visiting Britain spent more money than in 2019.
 


 But plans for a 'hotel tax' under Chancellor Rachel Reeves could see holidaymakers face an additional £12-a-night in future.


 Treasury officials are understood to have carried out 'modelling exercises' to work out the impact of introducing a similar levy as one applied in France.


 Across the Channel, nightly accommodation charges range from less than a pound per person per night at a campsite to up more than £12 in a five-star hotel.


 Several councils, including Manchester, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, have already introduced a so-called visitor charge which hotels can itemise on guest bills.


 A report in April last year estimated the charge had raised £2.8m for Manchester alone in its first year.


 The Chancellor's proposal for a widespread approach across the nation has been met with staunch opposition from international brands such as Burberry and Rolex-seller Watches of Switzerland to Heathrow and hotelier Sir Rocco Forte.


 London lobby group BusinessLDN also called on Labour to 'prioritise growth-enhancing' policies.


 But calculations by economic campaign group TaxPayers' Alliance found adopting a £1.25 charge per night would raise around £560m per year.


 York, which ranked just above Crawley on the list with nine million visitors over 12 months, has already welcomed the idea of a tourist tax for the city to help upkeep sites such as the Roman walls and Shambles shopping area.


 Of the ten countries whose residents visited the UK the most frequently in 2023, seven were EU countries.


 The three non-EU countries were the US, Australia and Canada.


 As in 2022, the US topped the table for foreign visitors in 2023, with 5.1m.


 The US was followed by France (3.2m), Germany (3m) and Ireland (2.9m).

 One of the top three most frequented nations globally is the United States.


 The major attractions – cities like San Francisco, New York, and Chicago along with national parks such as Yosemite – have lured international travelers for many years. Coupled with its status as a leading global economic force, this resulted in 66.5 million visitors in 2023, with predictions suggesting an even greater number of arrivals in 2024.


 However, significant transformations have occurred over the past few months, which could impact the robustness of 2025 statistics. With Donald Trump being reelected for presidency in 2024, leading to alterations in U.S. foreign policy and interactions, along with domestic cultural evolutions, global perceptions toward America seem to be shifting. These altered viewpoints might be influencing travelers' interest in visiting the country.


 According to a recent report from Tourism Economics, incoming travel to the U.S. is expected to drop by 5.5% this year rather than increase by almost 9%, as initially predicted. An intensification of tariffs and trade disputes might lead to additional decreases in global tourism, potentially resulting in an $18 billion (£13.8 billion) yearly decrease in tourist expenditure by 2025.

 Some indications of canceled trips have already surfaced. Following President Trump’s announcement of 25% tariffs on numerous Canadian products, the number of Canadians crossing into the U.S. at certain borders dropped by as much as 45% on particular days compared to last year. Canada leads as the largest provider of foreign visitors to the United States. In response to declining demand, Air Canada stated they will cut back on flights to several U.S. tourist spots such as Las Vegas starting in March.


 A survey conducted in March by Canadian market research firm Leger revealed that 36% of Canadians who had scheduled trips to the United States had canceled their plans. Data provided by aviation analysis company OAG indicates that passenger reservations for flights between Canada and the U.S. have dropped more than 70% when contrasted with the corresponding timeframe from the previous year. Following this trend, the U.S. Travel Association cautioned that a decrease of just 10% in incoming travelers from Canada might lead to a $2.1 billion USD ($1.6 billion GBP) decline in expenditures, potentially jeopardizing around 140,000 positions within the hospitality sector.


 Certain potential tourists have expressed reservations about visiting the U.S., citing an inhospitable political atmosphere—this includes hostile comments towards foreigners, immigrants, and the LGBTQ+ community. The Tourism Economics study additionally pointed out "divisive policies and remarks from the Trump administration" as contributing factors behind canceled trips.


 Various elements could affect visitors coming from regions like Western Europe, which accounted for 37% of international trips to the U.S. last year. Factors such as increased domestic costs due to U.S. tariffs and the perception that the U.S. government supports Russia amid the conflict in Ukraine also play a role.


 A study conducted by YouGov in March revealed that Western Europeans' views toward the U.S. have grown increasingly unfavorable following President Trump's re-election in November. Over half of respondents from Britain (53%), Germany (56%), Sweden (63%), and Denmark (74%) expressed negative sentiments about the country. In five out of the seven nations surveyed, these favorable opinions stand at their lowest point since tracking started back in November 2016.


 Several prominent incidents at the U.S. border might be deterring visitors. For instance, in March, a British citizen was arrested and kept in custody for over ten days by U.S. Customs Enforcement due to an issue with her visa. Around the same time, a traveler from Canada faced detainment when trying to extend her visa at the U.S.-Mexico boundary. Throughout her 12-day confinement, she was placed in overcrowded holding areas and even restrained with shackles.

 Mexico is the US’s second largest inbound travel market. Tourism Economics suggests that issues around new border enforcement rules will raise concerns with potential Mexican tourists. During Trump’s first term in office, Mexican visits to the US fell by 3%. In February this year, air travel from Mexico had already fallen 6% when compared to 2024.


 A number of nations such as Canada have been revising their guidance regarding travel to the U.S. For example, on March 15, the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office modified its recommendations for traveling to America, cautioning tourists that they "could face arrest or confinement" should they violate regulations. This was an update from the earlier statement issued in February which did not include any warnings about potential arrests or detentions. Similarly, Germany has also adjusted its travel advisories following reports of multiple German citizens being held at length by American border authorities over recent times.


 Several European nations such as France, Germany, Denmark, and Norway have likewise released targeted advisories aimed at transgender and non-binary individuals regarding traveling abroad. Meanwhile, U.S. officials require visitors to state their sex assigned at birth when applying for visas. Additionally, the U.S. government has ceased providing passports featuring an X marker, which is typically utilized by people who identify as non-binary, to American citizens.


 With countless travelers opting out of trips to the US, alternative locations are experiencing a rise in inquiries. Bermuda’s hotels have noted an uptick in reservations as Canadians shift both their business and leisure travel plans elsewhere, leading some experts to forecast a potential 20 percent boost in income from Canadian tourists.


 Europe has also seen an increase in bookings from Canada, with rental properties reporting a 32% rise in summer reservations this year compared to the previous one, as per certain reports.


 Concerns are mounting about how visa and entry limitations might hinder both spectators and participants from fully experiencing the 2026 Men’s FIFA World Cup across venues in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Travelers hailing from certain nations like Brazil, Turkey, and Colombia may face waits of nearly 700 days for their visa approvals. Additionally, the International Olympic Committee has voiced worries regarding the organization of the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles; however, American authorities maintain that "America will remain welcoming."


 As visa processing times increase, border controls get tighter, and worries about human rights violations along with anti-minority statements escalate, the U.S. could lose its charm as a premier travel spot. This might have severe repercussions for its tourism sector that would be hard to overcome in the future.

 On its western side, I came across abundant details regarding its renowned mushroom-like Rock Islands and exceptional dive locations, which include more than 50 World War II shipwrecks.


 However, when I arrived, I found that the place was keen to showcase something different: its vibrant cultural heritage on firm ground.


 Efforts by the distant island chain to promote experiences such as guided village tours and hands-on traditional craft workshops seem to be aiding the resurgence of tourism after pandemic-induced declines. Data from the nation’s tourist board shows visitor counts climbing from around 5,000 in 2021 to over 50,000 in 2024. Despite current diplomatic frictions, tourists from China are at the forefront of this revival.


 We're renowned for our pristine waters, yet there's much more to explore," remarks Sean Tekriu, greeting tourists at Palau’s Badrulchau Stone Monoliths, among the various inland draws promoted by local tourism authorities. "Our aim is to display our culture, history, and way of life.

 Palau, consisting of over 300 islands, can be directly accessed from various places such as Brisbane, Australia; Guam; Hong Kong; Macao; the Philippines, and Taiwan. The archipelago is renowned primarily for its mesmerizing underwater scenery, featuring approximately 1,500 types of fish and around 400 species of hard coral.


 Palauans are fervent about safeguarding these
 natural treasures
 And they have set aside 80 percent of their waters as a protected sanctuary — among the highest percentages globally. When we arrived, we had to sign the "Palau Pledge" in our passports, vowing to protect the environment for coming generations.


 A multitude of tourists visit to explore the sunken ruins of the former Japanese naval base.

 One of the standout artifacts is the Iro Maru, an enormous 470-foot-long supply vessel that lies intact in an upright position. Schools of lionfish and clownfish swim swiftly through its passageways.


 Jellyfish Lake, formerly one of Palau’s top spots for social media photos, used to teem with harmless jellyfish that snorkelers would photograph alongside themselves. Unfortunately, this site has become almost deserted because of increasing sea temperatures. Nevertheless, enthusiasts such as myself can continue to admire Palau’s underwater splendor at locations similar to Ngemelis Wall, also referred to as the Big Drop-Off. While drifting near the water's surface, I observed large groups of brightly colored fish and caught sight of a nurse shark far beneath me; its shape gradually fading away as the reef wall descended sharply over a thousand feet into the abyssal depths.


 My peaceful float was interrupted by a sudden sharp sting on my knee. When I surfaced, I found it bleeding, with no obvious culprit. Only later, while reviewing my photos, did I discover my likely attacker: The notoriously aggressive, yellow-and-black Titan Triggerfish was caught in one frame, its mouth agape with tiny, razor-sharp teeth.

 At Tebang Woodcarving Shop, craftsmen narrate Palauan oral history using conventional wooden carvings known as storyboards. Tourists have the option to buy these artistic creations, some extending up to 20 feet in length, or they can enroll in classes to master the skill of making their very own storyboard.


 "We have a deep enthusiasm for telling our tales," asserts McMichael Mutok Jr., emphasizing his efforts to safeguard his nation's heritage through his role at the National Register. According to folklore, he recounts, one prevalent story revolves around the breadfruit tree, which narrates how envy towards a miraculous fish-giving tree resulted in both being plunged beneath the waves, taking an entire island with them.


 The Etpison Museum exhibits numerous storyboard displays alongside Micronesian artifacts including massive Yapese stone money. Similarly, both the Etpison and Belau National Museums offer extensive insights into regional history and traditions, featuring ceremonies like "first childbirth," a significant rite of passage for new mothers involving purification and restoration.

 To get an interactive experience, visit Belau Eco Glass, which is both a gallery and center for repurposed art located within the Koror State waste management complex. Here you have the opportunity to turn discarded materials into beautiful creations through their glassblowing sessions, or simply buy finished items such as elegant vases and colorful jewelry. Having explored the exhibits, I departed with a charming set of tangerine-hued earrings.


 During our visit, we dropped by the bi-weekly 680 Night Market, which brings together performers along with vendors and craftsmen offering an engaging blend of live music, traditional dances, regional dishes, locally grown produce, handmade crafts, and keepsakes beneath the Japan-Palau Friendship Bridge.


 As the day turned to dusk, I enjoyed the ocean vistas from under the bridge connecting Koror Island—Palau’s main commercial and diving destination—with Babeldaob Island, known for its natural attractions and historic locations.

 On Babeldaob Island, adventurous travelers have the opportunity to explore Ngardmau, which stands as Micronesia’s highest waterfall. Accessible through a challenging, muddy path in the dense forest, visitors must decide whether they want to undertake an exhilarating river ford—a task I deferred to those more courageous—or take a less wet alternative along the edge of the stream. The effort culminates in a revitalizing swim in the natural pools below the cascading waters.


 History enthusiasts
 You might consider visiting the ruins of Kaigun Sho, a World War II Japanese communication center. Located at the less crowded northern end of Babeldaob, I strolled past the leftovers of an old Japanese lighthouse. The breathtaking view of the Pacific made the journey worthwhile, even though only scant traces of the structure remained.


 Close by, we wandered through the historical and peaceful terraces of the Badrulchau Stone Monoliths. These ancient ruins date back to around 150 AD and feature over 34 pillars thought to be remnants of an impressive assembly hall. I was particularly drawn to the enigmatic beginnings of this place, especially the regional tales about a mischievous deity who deceived other gods into scattering rocks all over the land.


 Mutok Jr. believes that by promoting heritage-focused tourism and sharing such tales, Palau can boost its reputation to be on par with places like Pohnpei’s Nan Madol.

 Several locations have gone further than just imposing fees for entering their city centers. As early as 2020, when troublesome visitors began to pose a significant issue,

 launched an initiative aimed at bringing in more conscientious and eco-friendly travelers to the state.


 Its campaign, called
 Travel With Care
 , stressed the importance of looking after the state, being attentive to others' needs, and taking care of oneself. In practical terms, Idaho promoted that visitors should safeguard the landscape and open areas, respect their fellow travelers, and focus on maintaining their own safety.


 Idaho’s initiatives aimed at promoting respect for both nature and others have yet to show quantifiable outcomes. However, you won’t find slogans like “TOURISTS GO HOME!” scrawled on the walls of Sun Valley’s ski lodges, nor does anybody propose imposing fees on pedestrians strolling through downtown Boise.


 Tourism authorities indicate that these measures have benefited both the travel sector and visitors alike. Natalie Jushinski, a tourism director at Visit Idaho, remarks, “This has significantly encouraged collaboration among all parties involved to ensure satisfaction for both guests and locals.”

 The top tip: Steer clear of the masses
</h3>

 Perhaps the most effective method to steer clear of an inferior travel adventure is to head in the exact opposite direction of popular spots. According to James Thornton, CEO of Intrepid Travel, 80% of tourists flock to merely 10% of global tourist hotspots. He states, “If you're ready to venture past well-known must-see locations, there are countless remarkable alternate destinations available that can provide a novel perspective on our planet.”


 This does not automatically imply steering clear of well-known destinations. I adore Venice, Rome, and Paris, and believe everybody should visit these cities at least one time.


 However, if you decide to go, make sure to visit during the off-season and avoid the crowds at the well-known museums and eateries.
