A couple who were penalized £1,500 for reporting that a migrant was holding onto a bike rack attached to their motorhome have now learned that the fine has been rescinded.

The Home Office instructed Adrian and Joanne Fenton, who are from Heybridge in Essex, to pay the fine for not ensuring that their vehicle contained no hidden unauthorized immigrants when crossing the English Channel.

Mr. Fenton stated that Border Force has informed him they have factored in his dispute regarding the debt and consequently lowered the fine to £0.

Mrs. Fenton expressed her delight over the Home Office's reversal of their decision.

Mr. Fenton, aged 57, had embarked on Le Shuttle from Calais to Folkestone in Kent during the evening of October 15th after they had been traveling throughout France.

Ms. Fenton, aged 55, informed the The JVS program on Three Counties Radio After driving for six hours, her spouse opened the bicycle rack’s covering and discovered the migrant inside.

The pair mentioned that they contacted law enforcement to inform them about locating the unauthorized passenger.

Mrs. Fenton mentioned that the boy subsequently told the authorities he was 16 years old and originally from Sudan.

They subsequently got an email informing them about the fine.

Mrs. Fenton contended that the man was holding onto the exterior of the motorhome instead of being within it.

Mr. Felton mentioned that he believed he had acted correctly by contacting the authorities.

The couple has now gotten an email from Border Force, which is part of the Home Office, decreasing the fine to zero pounds.

Mrs. Fenton stated, "This issue concerns motorhome owners and caravanners crossing the borders—how many more individuals will face similar situations?"

Her spouse chimed in: "We wouldn't wish what we've experienced on anybody else."

If law enforcement is called due to someone being found inside a motorhome,Border Force should not even think about imposing fines since everybody involved would have acted morally and correctly.

He stated that the Home Office ought to "examine their policies and ensure they are suitable and not aimed at holidaymakers."

Mrs. Fenton mentioned that they would still use their motorhome internationally, but emphasized they will be "extremely cautious -- we won’t have any covers on the bike rack."
