The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has apprehended 10 individuals and seized 235 vehicles due to multiple traffic infractions.
 
 
 The initiative spearheaded by LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, began on Wednesday across key locations such as Oyingbo, Iddo, Eja-Lonibu, Adeniji Adele, Sabo, Jibowu (Inter-State Terminal), and Oshodi—areas known for chronic traffic jams, haphazard parking, and environmental infractions.
 
 
 According to a statement released by LASTMA’s spokesman, Adebayo Taofiq, this information was shared.
 
 
 During the early stages of enforcement, at least 235 vehicles—including 38 personal cars, 156 colored Volkswagen commercial buses known as 'Danfos,' 19 minivans referred to as 'Koropes' along with tricycles, five heavy-duty trucks, and 17 long-distance passenger coaches—were seized due to multiple violations of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law enacted in 2018.
 
 
 Violations included unauthorized use of walkways, hindrance to vehicle movement, creation of unapproved stops, as well as blatant neglect of recognized traffic rules.
 
 
 In a notably severe incident, authorities stopped five semi-trucks on the Adeniji Adele Bridge as they were illegally unloading animals such as rams and cattle along with slaughterhouse waste. This not only caused significant environmental pollution but also endangered public safety and jeopardized the stability of the bridge.
 
 
 "The drivers, openly flouting sanitation regulations, now face impending legal action," the statement stated.
 
 
 Taofiq observed that the implementation was happening as per the instructions from the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa.
 
 
 "LASTMA is currently implementing a rigorous zero-tolerance policy towards traffic violations. Any vehicle seized due to such offenses will immediately face legal proceedings at the Lagos State mobile court for further action. The days of unchecked behavior on our roadways have come to an end," he stated.

 Sehubungan dengan informasi itu, Slamet Santoso menyatakan tegas bahwa tak terdapat modifikasi pada ketentuan penerbitan tilang, serta semua langkah masih sesuai dengan peraturan yang telah ditetapkan. Dia menerangkan bahwa apabila STNK belum diperbarui melewati batas waktu dua tahun, catatan tentang kendaraan tidak akan dibuang kecuali berasal dari permohonan si pemilik sendiri.


 Slamet menyebutkan bahwa STNK memang perlu diverifikasi setiap tahunnya. Namun bila pemegang kendaraan tertangkap dalam operasi penyisiran dengan STNK yang blm diextend, mereka masih akan dituntut hukuman, meski alat transporternya tak akan dirampas.


 Di samping itu, Slamet menyatakan bahwa para pengemudi yang tertangkap kamera oleh sistem ETLE tidak serta-merta dikenakan hukuman. Mereka bakal mendapat surat pemberitahuan awal guna proses pengecekan lebih lanjut.


 Apabila pemilik kendaraan tak membalas surat konfirmasi atau belum melunasi denda pelanggaran melewati tenggat waktu tertentu, informasi mengenai kendaraan terbaru tersebut bakal dikunci secara sementara. Namun demikian, pemblokiran ini bisa dicopot jika sang pemilik telah menyelesaikan proses konfirmasi ataupun membayarkan denda pelanggarannya. "Segala ketetapan ini sebelumnya telah disahkan pada Pasal 74 UU No. 22 Tahun 2009 tentang Lalu Lintas dan Penggunaan Jalan," jelas beliau itu.

 Pelanggaran lalu lintas, seperti denda elektronik, akan diinformasikan melalui cara digital kepada nomor ponsel milik si pemilik kendaraan yang sudah didaftarkan pada waktu mengurus plat nomor kendaraan (STNK).

A former law enforcement officer has been apprehended among others in an inquiry regarding an alleged gun manufacturing syndicate on the NSW south coast, authorities have disclosed.


 During an arrest in Shellharbour around 12:20 pm yesterday, police discovered two privately made machine guns, along with ammunition, balaclavas, and cable ties, on a 45-year-old male suspect.


 Four more loaded revolvers, three ballistic vests, a 3D printer, and various firearm components were discovered when authorities searched his property.

 The individual was transported to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he faced 20 charges, which included deliberately aiding a criminal organization as well as participating in various firearms supply offenses.

 Nearly one-fourth of the police cars are over a decade old, and an escalating amount are frequently trapped in maintenance facilities, according to a report by the Northern Ireland Audit Office (NIAO).


 The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) operates a fleet of 2,700 vehicles that collectively travel 27 million miles annually.


 The organization informed the NIAO about considerable challenges in supplying vehicles for front-line services. It also acknowledged "the possible safety hazards linked to having an aging vehicle fleet."


 From 2021 to 2024, the expense for repair work and upkeep carried out in internal workshops amounted to nearly £11 million.


 The proportion of the fleet in workshops on any given day has risen from 6% to 16%.


 The NIAO said "at its most extreme", almost 500 vehicles were off the road at a given time.


 Four years ago, the PSNI launched a strategy setting out plans for the modernisation of its fleet, with the ambition for the average age of vehicles to be five years.


 But this has not been achievable, with most vehicles exceeding the target.


 Almost £26m has been spent on purchasing new vehicles since 2021.

 Commenting on the report, Northern Ireland's Comptroller and Auditor General Dorinnia Carville said effective fleet management is "critical" for the PSNI.


 She added: "Achieving the planned fleet replenishment rates within the current financial environment will be challenging, however, managing an ageing fleet is also costly, with potentially significant operational impacts.


 "This report finds that progress has been made in a number of areas but that there is much more to be achieved, particularly in relation to the introduction of electric vehicles."


 The PSNI had planned to have around 700 electric vehicles by next year.


 As of last October it had 179.


 Electric vehicles are said to be unsuitable for many roles within the PSNI, including an inability to carry the weight of armouring.

 Drug trafficking is a significant concern for local sheriff’s departments as it often operates across county boundaries. This activity is seen as a major contributor to the crime rate in our region.


 The sheriff's departments of Calhoun, Gulf, Liberty, and Franklin joined forces to establish a drug task force aimed at tackling the problem.


 "These criminals aren't familiar with jurisdictional boundaries as police officers are. Therefore, crossing these jurisdictional lines and enabling us to operate beyond our usual limits, while also assisting other sheriffs who can then help us, is the most crucial aspect of this task force," stated Liberty County Sheriff Dusty Arnold.


 The task force will enable deputies to operate across county boundaries to better chase after criminals.

 "It simply makes sense for us to gather all our minds, pool all our resources, and work collectively to share intelligence and cooperate with each other. This approach will make us much more effective in conducting business," stated Calhoun County Sheriff Michael Bryant.


 For the first time, FDLE is collaborating with rural counties as well. The agency is providing specialized agents and resources for this initiative. Through their partnership, these organizations can augment staffing without imposing additional costs on local taxpayers.


 Leaders think that this collaborative effort between multiple agencies will enhance connections within these neighborhoods.


 "It goes beyond being merely a task force on paper. We're really coming together, collaborating, and bringing about change," Bryant stated.

 An unnamed member of Operation Soap stated, “For each apprehension, we make sure to collaborate with law enforcement and refrain from administering our own form of justice.”

 "Law enforcement and federal agencies can only do so much due to their constraints. Often, it comes down to staffing; they lack the funds to hire enough personnel. It seemed like an opportunity for us to step in and take over some of those tasks," he stated.


 Members of the group pretend to be minors to lure and catch individuals online who intend to form inappropriate relationships.


 "We cannot begin anything; we cannot instigate anything. Everything comes to us instead. We prolong these situations and construct our cases against those involved. There are certain organizations we collaborate with, and once we gather the evidence, we pass it along to them. Our cooperation includes assisting with arrests—where they'll happen, when they're scheduled—and then proceeding accordingly," he stated.

 Although their actions aren't against the law, some people have raised questions about their intentions.


 We inquired, "Are you all just doing this for clicks?"


 “No way,” he stated. "Even if each of our videos or live streams only garnered 50 views, we would continue uploading them just as usual. The core idea behind what we do is to reach as wide an audience as possible with information about these predators, ensuring that anyone who spots them in public will understand that this individual could pose a danger and should therefore avoid interaction. Even without cameras recording us, we'd keep up with the exact same activities."


 It is claimed that the funds raised go toward their initiatives.


 We maintain complete transparency regarding each contribution within our entire organization," he stated. "Our members are aware of our financial status at all times. Whenever we decide to allocate funds for a purchase, we submit it to a group vote. These resources are never used for acquiring luxury items like new vehicles or expensive attire. The money is consistently directed toward initiatives that foster significant change, enhance our organizational capabilities, or improve our efforts here.


 The team believes that many positive outcomes have resulted from their efforts.


 "We've encountered specific instances where we apprehended someone who had children with another person. In these situations, the mother used our evidence in court proceedings and was awarded full custody of her child. This has happened twice," he explained.


 They claim they will keep doing their share to enhance community safety.


 "It's completely unacceptable. They are at the bottom of the barrel. This is precisely why we take action. Ultimately, if we're not the ones apprehending these individuals, some genuine children will have to face the consequences," he stated.

 “The report indicated that unidentified armed assailants ambushed and attacked Chinese expatriates and their police escorts en route to their company in Agukwu-Amaya, Ndundu Community, Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area.


 “Tragically, during the attack, the manager, Mr Quan (male), his colleague, Mr Cai (male), and Insp. Audu Saidu (one of the escort officers) were killed.


 “The assailants also took away Insp. Saidu’s rifle,” she said.


 “Upon receiving the distress report, operatives from the Abia command, in a joint operation with other security agencies, launched a search mission.


 “The operation resulted in the rescue of three Chinese expatriates, who were unharmed, while one sustained injuries.


 Chinaka added that Insp. Uba Ahmed, who was also rescued, suffered a gunshot wound to his leg.


 “Both the injured officer and expatriate are currently receiving treatment and are reported to be responding well at the Federal Medical Centre, Abakaliki.


 “The tactical team of the command, on April 5, 2025, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), visited the crime scene as part of the ongoing search and rescue efforts.


 “Through collaborative action involving the police, military, and local community members, Insp Ijeagwa Friday was also rescued unharmed,” she said.

 BOYNTON BEACH — Authorities stated that police fatally shot a man who was wielding a machete at a park on Saturday morning after receiving reports of a nearby domestic disturbance.


 The police responded to reports of an argument involving a father and his grown-up son around 10:45 a.m. on Saturday close to the area of 600 block of Northeast 20th Lane. When officers arrived at the location inside Intracoastal Park adjacent to the road, they found one individual from the disagreement holding a machete. This information was provided by the Boynton Beach Police department.


 In an update provided Sunday, authorities mentioned that they attempted to calm the circumstances but requested the man to discard his machete. The individual declined, stating, “Why won’t you shoot? Why not?” before advancing towards the officers wielding the machete, according to law enforcement officials.


 The officers fired at the man and subsequently attempted resuscitation efforts. The Boynton Beach Fire Rescue personnel transported the individual to Delray Medical Center, where he ultimately passed away.


 The police didn't provide additional details regarding the incident, however, they mentioned that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is handling the investigation.


 The northbound stretch of U.S. Route 1 from Oyer Park to Gateway Boulevard was shut down during the event.

 The traveler was recognized as James Pitts, aged 39, and subsequent investigations revealed that Pitts has ties to a drug smuggling operation transporting illicit materials from the Eastern Seaboard to Lee County.
 
 
 The LCSO stated that this arrest was conducted in partnership with the Collier County Sheriff's Office.
