 Supported by the E Street Band in powerful form upon its release in 1984 on an album bearing the same title, this song later turned into a prime example of how quickly tunes with clear-cut lyrics could be misinterpreted. For instance, the trade publication Cash Box characterized it as "an unambiguous hymn extolling America’s core principles," whereas libertarian writer George Will opined, "I am utterly oblivious to Springsteen’s political leanings" — quite unsurprising indeed — yet he felt that the refrain from "Born in the U.S.A." amounted to "a splendidly joyous declaration.” He went so far as to propose to Reagan’s team that they seek Bruce Springsteen's backing for President Reagan's reelection bid during the 1984 presidential race. This suggestion was promptly declined.

 As a theme song, it's quite straightforward. After all, we're not dealing with a working-class national anthem that speaks to the unyielding spirit of marginalized communities in overlooked parts of England, which would be similar to a populist politician known for their strong views on social and economic issues, making even someone like Liz Truss appear mild-mannered compared to Pete Seeger.

 However, when using a chart-topping song from a group that previously criticized

 Whalley proceeded to criticize "the new generation of populist leaders who believe they can conceal their millionaire 'champion of the common folk' paradoxes with popular hits everyone adores." Expanding his criticism, he pointed out that Donald Trump specifically lacks knowledge regarding his selection of campaign anthems; as a result, he has had to cease using music from artists like Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles, and Elton John. When it came to Chumbawamba, we also had to issue our own 'stop and desist' order because an aspirant President Trump mistakenly believed he could utilize 'Tubthumping,' not anticipating our strong objections.


 Boff Whalley believes that the real problem here is that “the right doesn’t have any good songs [which is] why they keep trying to nick ours”.


 Who am I to claim he’s missing the point? Undoubtedly, when conservative politicians, particularly, declare their support for political adversaries, they often tread on metaphorical land mines visible even from outer space. He tweeted, "ATTENTION QAnon, MAGA fascists: Each time you belt out 'We're Not Gonna Take It,' keep in mind it was penned by someone who enjoys dressing up as the opposite sex, supports liberal causes, loves nature, identifies partly Jewish, and despises everything you represent." Adding, "Your anger fueled each bitter line of that song! GET LOST!"


 Keep in mind, "We're Not Gonna Take It" has been misinterpreted since day one. Following years of performing in Long Island’s clubs throughout the early '70s and into the mid-'80s, Twisted Sister found themselves thrust into controversy when they were included among 15 rock and pop tracks flagged by the politically connected censor organization known as the PMRC [Parents Music Resource Center]. With his appearance resembling chaos akin to an explosion at a Bette Midler merchandise plant, Dee Snider had to appear before this group during a Senate hearing where he aimed to debunk the idea that he was corrupting youthful audiences.

 The 84-year-old music legend avoids the traditional method of mixing juices from a roast with a dash of wine and instead goes for a more unorthodox recipe.


 He combines eight stock cubes from different flavours - including lamb, chicken, beef and vegetable - with boiling water.


 He then adds two chopped fried onions to the mix, along with teriyaki, soy and Worcestershire sauce.


 Several renowned chefs were quick to question the recipe, with Tom Brown, the Michelin-starred chef and owner of the Pearly Queen oyster bar in east
 London
 , calling it 'absolutely vile'.


 Now, scientists have waded in on the debate - and say that Cliff might be on to something with his recipe.


 Dr Nathan Kilah, a food scientist from the University of
 Tasmania
 , claims that adding ingredients like teriyaki, soy and Worcestershire sauce to your gravy can 'broaden the flavour profile.'


 'These ingredients will broaden the flavour profile through sweetness (sugar), acidity (vinegar, citric and malic acids), and umami. Some folk even add Vegemite to their gravy for an extra umami boost,' he explained in an article for

 Acording to Dr Kilah, the basis of any good gravy is the juice from your roasting tray.


 'Roasting meats causes the fats to “render” and separate from the meat as a liquid,' he explained.


 'The fat pools in the tray with flavour-rich meat juices.'


 While the fat and water both carry flavour compounds, Dr Kilah warns that too much fat can give your gravy an 'unpleasant mouthfeel'.


 'It’s worth pouring off the pan juices into a jug to allow the fat to separate from the liquid so you can control how much fat you’re adding,' he advised.


 While the meat juices form the basis of any good gravy, Dr Kilah says that your vegetables are also key.


 'One specific flavour compound identified as having a “gravy aroma” is known as 3-mercapto-2-methylpentan-1-ol,' he explained.


 'This compound comes from roasted vegetables, so including some veggies in your roasting pan will give you more depth of gravy flavour.'

 The choice of flour is yours, but Dr. Kilah recommends using cornstarch or arrowroot starch.


 "[Corn and arrowroot] contain a greater amount of starch compared to flour and possess a milder taste," he stated.


 'Typically, more wheat starch needs to be included and cooked for an extended period to create a paste.'


 Regardless of which thickener you choose, introduce it gradually into your meat and vegetable juices to avoid forming clumps in your sauce.


 Salt is the next ingredient to add, although Dr Kilah cautions that you shoud taste as you go.


 'The pan juices are typically concentrated as part of the gravy making process,' he said.


 'Make sure you taste the gravy before seasoning, as salt will be concentrated by heating.'


 Finally, the scientist advises adding a glug of red wine, and a dollop of ketchup.


 'Additional flavour components can be introduced by adding red wine, sherry, stock, or tomato sauce,' he added.


 'These ingredients will broaden the flavour profile through sweetness (sugar), acidity (vinegar, citric and malic acids), and umami in the case of tomato sauce (natural glutamates, such as those found in MSG).


 'Some folk even add Vegemite to their gravy for an extra umami boost.'


 If you taste your final gravy and aren't happy with it - don't panic.


 According to Dr Kilah, instant gravy powder is a solid back-up option.


 'The advantages of the instant version are speed and uniformity due to the carefully controlled commercial production,' he added.

 In 2016, when she reached the age of 65, she decided to retire. She believed that she had earned it.


 I've put in immense effort throughout my life, often juggling two or even three jobs," she stated. "Adding the commitment to the Army Reserves only made it more challenging.


 Despite all her efforts, Randle has managed to save just $2,000 for her retirement. Her sole income source is a small annuity providing roughly $500 monthly, which will cease in a few years.


 Thus, Randle and her partner, Mike DellaVolpe, aged 82, primarily rely on Social Security for their survival. Their total monthly benefit amounts to approximately $2,400.


 The funds stretch further than you'd imagine.


 Before retiring, Randle mentioned, "I implemented several changes to simplify my future." She explained, "We decided it was necessary to acquire a new vehicle and refurbish our swimming pool." This year, she successfully cleared her mortgage of $82,000 for her residence in Clearwater, Florida.


 She has two adult children who are self-sufficient. Both she and her companion like to live frugally.


 “She mentioned that they are quite thrifty,” she explained. “Whenever they see those menu options, they think, ‘This is outrageous. There’s no way we’ll spend that much when we could easily cook something nicer ourselves.’”


 During their most recent outing for dinner, Randle remembered saying, "I ordered a small pizza for $11, and Mike went for an Italian beef which also cost $11." The total amount they paid came to $23.


 “She mentioned they have a spot they visit for breakfast. It’s run by Greeks, so you can be sure it’s excellent, with the meal costing $6.50.”

 Surviving on Social Security is one challenge. Thriving comfortably is an entirely different issue, as Alden and Dena Swartz have discovered.


 Alden Swartz held a favorable position at a company dealing with packaging products, where his role involved collaborating with a group focused on selling packaging machinery: "For instance," he explained, "anything related to producing a bottle of ketchup and ensuring it could be shipped safely."

 In 2019, the company underwent restructuring, "and as a result, I was moved out of my role," Swartz stated. He decided to retire when he reached 64 years old.
