 When the tournament conducts its draw ceremony on Tuesday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, GILAS Pilipinas will find out which teams they will face during the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 group stage.


 The 16 participating teams have been divided into four groups according to their FIBA rankings, and the Philippines will face one opponent from each group. As the host nation, Saudi Arabia opted to be placed in Pot 1.


 The lottery draw will take place on Tuesday at 10 a.m. GMT (6 p.m. Philippine Standard Time).


 According to the draft seeding, the Filipinos will face a team from either Australia, Japan, New Zealand, or Saudi Arabia in Pot 1; Jordan, South Korea, Syria, or Chinese Taipei in Pot 3; and India, Qatar, Guam, or Iraq in Pot 4.


 Gilas falls into Pot 2 along with Iran, Lebanon, and China, indicating they will not encounter these countries unless all of them progress to the playoff stage.

 Familiar faces await Gilas

 In the group stage, potential adversaries for Filipino players could be New Zealand. This is a squad against whom they have had mixed outcomes during qualifying matches—triumphing over the Tall Blacks with a score of 93-89 in November at the Mall of Asia Arena, yet succumbing to them with an 87-70 loss in Auckland back in February.

 Gilas might also end up facing Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Jordan from Pot 3 again, reminiscent of their clash for the gold medal at the 19th Asian Games. The TNT import qualifies to participate in the tournament as he is a naturalized player representing Jordan.


 Another Team 3 squad from Chinese Taipei is another possible rival during the group stage, a side that beat the Philippines with a score of 91-84 in the February window, led by players such as Mohammad Al Bachir Gadiaga.


 Gilas might face Jericho Cruz during the group stage since he has been playing for Guam in FIBA tournaments. Guam ended up in Pot 4 following their qualification for the Asia Cup via a qualifying competition held last March.


 Australia and Japan are also under consideration, with Australia as the reigning champion of the Asia Cup and Japan having eliminated the Philippines, 102-81, in the FIBA Asia Cup 2022 qualifiers en route to reaching the quarterfinals.

 The inaugural international beach tennis tournament in Hong Kong, approved by the sport’s worldwide regulatory authority, commenced on Friday, featuring participants from 28 different countries, drawing parallels to the vibrant atmosphere of the city’s famous rugby sevens event.


 The organizers aim for the inaugural event in Discovery Bay to spark enthusiasm for an accelerated version of a classic sport and serve as a launchpad for hosting more prestigious International Tennis Federation (ITF) competitions.


 Arnault Brac de la Perriere, who unofficially holds the title of the city’s top figure, facilitated the establishment of the ITF Beach Tennis World Tour in Hong Kong. According to him, their objective was to create an event with some of the festive spirit and ease of access associated with the abbreviated version of rugby, similar to what had been witnessed just days before at the Hong Kong Sevens held at Kai Tak Stadium.

 Securing this event took three years of effort, with the ultimate aim of introducing a Grand Slam tournament to our city, explained Brac de la Perriere, originally from the Indian Ocean island of Réunion but has been residing in Hong Kong for two decades now.


 On the opening day, it was a BT10 event—the entry-level competition designed for newcomers and amateur players. Professional gamers will join on Saturday to compete in the BT50 tournament, with a top prize of US$4,000 awaiting the victor.


 A total of 140 participants have signed up, representing 28 different countries, including five who are ranked within the top 100 globally. Notable competitors include men’s world No. 35 Niklass Andersons from Latvia and women’s world No. 34 Erina Otsuka from Japan.


 The BT50 event kicks off at 8 am on Saturday, featuring the initial round, followed by the subsequent rounds and quarters. The semifinals are set for 9 am on Sunday, succeeded by the finals which will commence at 2 pm.


 Brac de la Perriere mentioned he anticipated over 200 individuals would attend to view the final segments.

 I've always believed that the Washington Capitals are solid, yet not exceptional. It’s normal for teams to go through tough periods, but this trend warrants some scrutiny regarding their overall approach.


 When looking at the bigger picture, how might the Metropolitan Division fare in the playoffs? There appears to be potential for an unexpected deep run by one of the teams. While I don't expect them to falter against Montreal or the Rangers in the opening round, they may become more vulnerable during the second round.


 
 2. Could it possibly be Carolina or New Jersey then?
 


 We're set for a matchup between the Hurricanes and the Devils, where Carolina is expected to have an edge, though not too significant. Interestingly, since trading away Mikko Rantanen, the Hurricanes have caught fire. In his place, Logan Stankoven has contributed with six points across 11 games, and the team boasts a record of 9 wins against only 2 losses during this period. Everything appears perfectly aligned now.


 The Hurricanes are speedy and top the NHL in shot-attempt differential, which means they will likely dominate many teams. During the playoffs, facing such pressure requires stellar goaltending, but unfortunately for the Capitals, Logan Thompson has sustained an upper-body injury.

 I doubt the Hurricanes consider themselves a major Stanley Cup contender this season, but it isn't entirely out of the question that with a favorable matchup, they could end up in crucial games later in the playoffs. And once they get that far, who knows what might happen?


 
 3. The Canadiens could potentially freeze out the wildcard race by Tuesday.
 


 Could they possibly get caught? Absolutely.


 But only if they don't play well.

In this scenario, for Columbus to overtake them, they'd need an impressive record of 6-1-1. Meanwhile, the Rangers would have to secure five victories out of their last seven matches to take the position from Montreal; however, their closing fixtures include tough matchups against Carolina away, Florida away, and Tampa Bay at home, making it quite challenging for them.


 Therefore, over the coming five nights, Montreal faces three lower-ranked opponents (once they face Detroit on Tuesday, which could determine their elimination and might make them less enthusiastic), whereas the Blue Jackets have matches against three teams that are competing for the playoffs.


 A three-game winning streak pretty much seals it for Montreal. Time to step up, Habs fans.


 
 4. The Bruins performed badly ... or did they?
 


 Despite not always finding success, the Toronto Maple Leafs have proven adept at "tanking." After hitting rock bottom during a tough year, they secured Auston Matthews and promptly climbed their way back into playoff contention. This has led to an impressive streak of nine consecutive postseason appearances, the best in the NHL.


 This year, the Boston Bruins were a serious contender for both playoffs and the top spot within their division in the Atlantic, yet the season began poorly and deteriorated further. From issues surrounding the Jeremy Swayman contract dispute to ultimately trading away team captain Brad Marchand, things only went downhill.


 Nevertheless, if we rewind three months to early January, they were ranked third in the Atlantic division, battling against Florida for a more favorable playoff seeding position. At that time, Florida led them by five points. Just two weeks after that, their standing dropped out of the wildcard positions, and here’s where things stand now:

 They're more probable to end up picking sixth rather than first, yet the top five prospects in this draft are expected to be exceptionally talented. Despite their underwhelming season, the Bruins possess sufficient high-caliber players such as David Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy, Jeremy Swayman, Elias Lindholm, and Nikita Zadorov. They might capitalize on these assets over the offseason and position themselves strongly for a playoff spot next year, potentially securing an upcoming All-Star caliber player through the draft.


 
 5. Is it possible for the Predators to do the same?
 


 This season was a disaster for The Predators, possibly due to their significant offseason acquisitions (Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault), who seemed like rejected suitors, spurned by the teams they had hoped to join. However, as evident from the Tankathon image provided, they're now looking at securing one of the first five draft picks.


 However, it's important to mention that the core statistics for the Preds are surprisingly strong for a team in such a position.

 The Flames likely aren't fond of the Wild's upcoming schedule. Minnesota still has six games to play, with only one of those opponents currently qualifying for the playoffs.

 The Flames would definitely secure a playoff spot in the East, where 90 points would be enough to qualify. However, they're in the West, and the Wild still have six games remaining with a comfortable lead.

 Should Minnesota end up with a record of 3-3 in their remaining matches, they would accumulate an additional six points, bringing their total to 95. In this scenario, Calgary would need to secure at least 6 victories out of 7 possible wins to surpass them since they would fall behind based on the regulation win tiebreaker; thus, achieving only 5 wins, 1 loss, and 1 overtime/shootout loss wouldn't be sufficient for Calgary to overtake Minnesota.

 If the Wild have a record of 2-4, then a 5-2 performance appears much more achievable for Calgary. However, the key factor here is that Calgary needs Minnesota to struggle against weaker teams.


 Another possibility is that the Blues falter and end up with a record of 2-3 or even worse, which would allow the Flames to reach 95 points, potentially giving them the edge in tiebreakers by then. This scenario isn’t out of the question considering St. Louis’s challenging upcoming games.

 The UAE national team player Ahmad Skaik is enthusiastically getting ready for his comeback at the HotelPlanner Tour’s (previously known as the Challenge Tour) two consecutive events in the UAE next month, which marks a crucial stage in his journey towards becoming a professional golfer.


 For the third successive year, the DP World Tour’s premier developmental tour will be hosted in the UAE, featuring two major events organized jointly by the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF).


 The action begins with the UAE Challenge taking place from April 10-13 at Al Zorah Golf & Yacht Club, marking the first time this venue hosts an event sanctioned by the European Tour Group. Following that, the tour moves to Abu Dhabi for the Abu Dhabi Challenge, held at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club from April 17-20.


 These consecutive tournaments serve as platforms for emerging talents and champions from the DP World Tour striving to return to the international golf scene. Additionally, they significantly contribute to nurturing UAE National Team members, alongside local professional and amateur golfers based in the UAE.


 This advancement has been facilitated by the EGF’s longstanding collaboration with the European Tour group, ensuring 30 competition slots for UAE players across these two tournaments. This effort extends the European Tour group’s dedication to fostering golf development in the UAE up till at least 2032.


 Over the past two years, Skaik has significantly benefited from these opportunities and will once again participate with other members of the UAE National Team, such as Sam Mullane, Jonathan Selvaraj, Rayan Ahmed, Mohammed Skaik, and Nayl Cherrat.


 "The collaboration has proven extremely beneficial," stated Skaik.


 I sense improvement each time I participate in the HotelPlanner Tour — my character develops, and I gain confidence believing that someday I could compete and triumph there. The participants in this tour tend to be more precise, commit fewer errors, and maintain greater consistency. It feels as though I am progressing towards that level. All I need to do is continue training and stick with what works for me; perhaps then I might achieve victory at both the HotelPlANNER Tour and eventually on the DP World Tour.


 Coming face-to-face with top-tier competitors has significantly shaped Ahmad Skaik’s path as he aims to achieve his dream of becoming a pro, which might happen before the year ends after participating in the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship held in the UAE.


 In last month's 2025 Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Golf Championship held at the Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in Saudi Arabia, this talented 27-year-old secured both individual and team gold medals for the UAE. He achieved an unprecedented score of 270 strokes, which was 18 under par, setting a new standard for the lowest tally ever recorded in the tournament’s annals. This remarkable feat also marked the biggest victory gap seen yet in the individual competition segment.


 This significant accomplishment was built upon the solid base of invaluable experience obtained through participating in 12 HotelPlanner Tour events during the last couple of years.


 Due to the EGF’s swapping of competition places with other golf organizations, Emirati athletes such as Skaik have had the opportunity to participate in HotelPlanner Tour competitions across the globe, thereby increasing their visibility and refining their abilities on an international platform.


 Sking mentioned that participating in these activities always assists him in staying ahead.


 I am determined to put in lots of effort and approach these events with confidence so that I can perform competitively. Whenever I'm playing at my best, I crave even more action—I truly enjoy having three or four forthcoming HotelPlANNER Tour starts because they allow me to continuously improve each week.


 Next month’s double-header on the HotelPlanner Tour will offer more than just high-level competition for the EGF’s players - it will also mark a new chapter for two of the federation’s newly appointed full-time rules officials.


 The Thai twin sisters Sasinun and Sasikarn Tungbenjapol are set to appear for the first time on the HotelPlanner Tour. They bring with them extensive experience gained from serving as officiating referees at various tours including the Thai LPGA Tour, Ladies European Tour, and Asian Tour.


 Their notable qualifications also encompass refereeing for the R&A during the 2022 Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship, which took place at Siam Country Club in Thailand.

 AUGUSTA, Ga. — Asterix Talley missed seeing the ball go in when she made an eagle on her first hole at Augusta National Golf Club. However, the enthusiastic reaction from the spectators conveyed what had happened. The 16-year-old quickly lifted her hands above her head in joyful triumph as she looked toward the skies.


 “Even as her dad I can’t tell if she’s happy or sad,” said her father, James, earlier in the week at Champions Retreat. “You don’t see her out there fist-pumping. I was like, was that good or was it bad? I don’t know. It’s always on the same plane.”


 California's Talley, whose name means “little star” in Greek, came up one stroke shy in her second

 Even with birdies on two out of the last three holes, she has achieved remarkable success. Having won at the U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball and reached the finals in two USGA events last year—the U.S. Women’s Amateur and the U.S. Girls’ Junior—her résumé closely mirrors what Rose Zhang accomplished at such a tender age.


 Beth Daniel, an LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame member, coached Talley during last year’s Junior Solheim Cup and described her skills as exceptional.

 Daniel remarked, “She possesses an extraordinary level of determination to triumph,” adding, “It’s not something you encounter frequently among many athletes; such qualities appear only occasionally.”

 Talley possesses the skills needed to compete on the LPGA currently. She boasts the distance, composure, and eagerness to learn and put in hard work that are essential for success at the higher level.


 One year back, she arrived in Augusta and informed the media that her objective was to reach the professional ranks at the earliest opportunity.


 "To become number one," she stated.


 Now that she has gained even greater national recognition and visibility, her stance has changed. She is now expressing a desire to pursue higher education.


 I believe this will be an excellent experience for me," remarked Talley following her second ANWA appearance where she closed with a score of 68. "It will provide me with the opportunity to be part of a team consistently. Teamplay is something I enjoy immensely, as well as the atmosphere it creates, and I feel this will offer me tremendous learning.


 Last summer, Talley defeated world top-ranked player Lottie Woad in singles during the Curtis Cup and contributed to leading Team USA to triumph at the Junior Solheim.


 Talley’s dad says she enjoys school and maintains a 4.3 GPA. Unlike several of her classmates who attend classes virtually, Talley attends Chowchilla High School in person five days a week, from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Many of her acquaintances are unaware of what she gets up to during her trips.


 Although Talley may seem older than her age when competing in the ring, she is simply a typical 16-year-old outside of it. Unlike others who remained in Georgia for an additional week following the Sage Valley Invitational to prepare for the ANWA, Talley returned to California after the event concluded so she could attend classes.

 During last year's U.S. Women's Open at Lancaster Country Club, Talley remained competitive throughout the initial days following her scores of 70 and 71. She quickly became a favorite among the media as a result.


 When she delivered that fantastic interview at the U.S. Open that everybody adored, I must be honest—I don't really know that girl," her dad remarked dryly. "I usually pick her up from school and attempt to gather details from her—unless it’s a simple yes or no response, I end up with nothing.


 James, a corrections officer who has recently faced significant challenges, mentioned that he first heard about the World Amateur Golf Ranking roughly eight months ago. He often receives inquiries regarding Asterisk’s prospects and supports the notion of her attending college, drawing parallels to how Zhang pursued education before embarking on her career path for at least a few years.


 I don't believe any harm could come from it," James stated. "If she wishes to join the tour, it will still be an option; however, college won't wait.


 People often said that Zhang's time at college golf might be detrimental to her. This bothered her quite a bit.


 “I wanted to push myself to the limit,” she said on the eve of her 2023 Augusta National Women’s Amateur victory.


 Only a few LPGA players have claimed victories as teens – Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel, Lexi Thompson, Lydia Ko, Ariya Jutanugarn, and Brooke Henderson. Talley’s career seems to be following a comparable route. She might secure wins at the professional level prior to entering college, though currently, she still has various choices ahead.


 There’s a sense of individuality and personal growth that develops during college, which cannot be replicated when touring with an entourage that often comprises family members.


 Michelle Wie West notably became a professional and later returned to college to regain her footing.


 Talley mentioned she has no idea how much she's grown over the last year, but her dad stated that she's increased by 4 inches in just eight months.

 Berharap agar tim nasional sepak bola U-17 Indonesia menampilkan performa optimal saat bertanding di turnamen Piala Asia U-17 tahun 2025. Kompetisi tersebut direncanakan digelar dari tanggal 3 sampai dengan 20 April 2025 di kota Jeddah, Arab Saudi. "Mari kita dorong serta mendoakan semoga pasukan Garuda junior dapat menghasilkan prestasi gemilangan dan menciptakan sejarah bagi negara," ungkapnya lewat akun media sosial Instagram pada hari Rabu, 2 April 2025.


 Erick menyebutkan bahwa pasukan yang dilatih oleh Nova Arianto tersebut akan bermain melawan sejumlah negara tangguh dalam Grup C seperti Korea Selatan, Yaman, dan Afghanistan. "Tim-tim terbaik dari setiap grup, yaitu dua tim teratas, akan maju ke fase delapan besar dan memperoleh kesempatan untuk tampil di Piala Dunia U-17 tahun 2025," jelasnya.


 Pada postingan sebelumnya, Erick mengabarkan bahwa para atlet Tim Nasional U-17 Indonesia harus menyambut hari raya Idul Fitri di Arab Saudi tanpa kehadiran keluarga mereka. Dia berharap hal tersebut tidak akan menggangu kesiapan tim dalam pertandingan Piala Asia U-17 tahun 2025. "Harapannya usaha yang dilakukan kali ini bukanlah percuma," ujar Menteri Badan Usaha Milik Negara tersebut.


 Josh Holong beserta teman-temannya akan mengawali pertandingan di Piala Asia dengan bertemu lawan dari Korea Selatan pada Jumat, 4 April. Pasukan pemain muda Garuda selanjutnya berhadapan dengan timnas Yaman pada Senin, 7 April, disusul oleh pertarungan melawan timnas Afganistan lima hari setelah itu. Setiap pertandingan fase grup pasukan Garuda Muda ini akan dilangsungkan di stadion Prince Abdullah Al Faisal.


 Tim yang dilatih oleh Nova Arianto diharapkan dapat menyelesaikan kompetisi di posisi tertinggi kedua dalam grup: juara atau runner-up. Dengan demikian, baik tim mana pun yang mencapai prestasi tersebut pasti akan maju ke tahapan berikutnya. Lebih jauh lagi, tidak hanya berhasil masuk ke babak delapan besar, tetapi dengan sukses melewati fase grup juga memberikan kesempatan untuk secara otomatis mendapatkan tempat bertanding di Piala Dunia U-17 tahun 2025 di Qatar.


 Nova Arianto sudah menentukan 23 pemain final untuk Piala Asia U-17 tahun 2025. Beberapa nama seperti I Putu Panji Apriawan, Daniel Alfrido, Evandra Florasta, Muhammad Zahaby Gholy, dan juga Mathew Ryan Baker terpilih sebagai anggota tim ini. Pasukan nasional sepak bola Indonesia U-17 telah melakukan latihan intensif selama berbulan-bulan bahkan sampai ke negara lain.  THE DIVISION 1A and 1B hurling league finals will be played as a double-header in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday 6 April.


 The Leeside venue will host Cork against Tipperary at 4pm in the Division 1A decider, preceded by Offaly against Waterford at 1.45pm in the Division 1B showdown.


 The GAA have also announced fixture details for the four Allianz football league finals this weekend.


 The Division 2 decider between Monaghan and Roscommon has been shifted to the main Saturday night slot, preceded by Wexford and Limerick clashing in Division 4.

 On Sunday, the featured match is the Division 1 showdown between Kerry and Mayo, preceded by the Division 3 final between Kildare and Offaly as the precursor game.


 All six games will be live on TG4.


 This Saturday, The Division 2 hurling championship finale is scheduled to take place in Inniskeen, featuring a match between Down and Kildare. However, the locations for the Division 3 and 4 finales have not been announced yet.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the central contract list for female cricket players, dividing them into three tiers: A, B, and C. The top tier includes prominent athletes Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and Deepti Sharma, who have been assigned to Grade A.


 In the meantime, four players have earned positions in Grade B, while nine others have been placed in Grade C.

 Iga Świątek już wie, z kim może zagrać w czwartej rundzie turnieju w Miami. Jej potencjalną przeciwniczkę wyłoniło starcie pomiędzy Karoliną Muchovą i Eliną Switoliną. Te rozegrały trzysetowy mecz, w którym lepsza okazała się Ukrainka. Zwyciężyła ona 6:2, 3:6, 6:2 i niebawem może zmierzyć się z Polką.


 Iga Świątek (2. WTA) w trzeciej rundzie turnieju WTA 1000 w Miami wpadła na Elise Mertens (28. WTA). Zanim Polka wyszła na kort, rozpoczęło się spotkanie, które wyłonił jej potencjalną przeciwniczkę w czwartej rundzie.

 Karolina Muchova (14. WTA) i Elina Switolina (22. WTA) to dwie świetnie tenisistki, zatem można było oczekiwać wyrównanej rywalizacji. Początek negatywnie zweryfikował te przypuszczenia, a wyraźnie przeważały serwujące - wyjątkiem był trzeci gem, w którym Czeszka została przełamana. Powtórnie spotkało ją to przy stanie 2:4, a mimo że zaraz miała break point, to Ukrainka się wybroniła, a następnie wykorzystała pierwszy setbol. To dało jej zwycięstwo 6:2.
