Lagos Hits 1 Million Internet Users, Fueling a Ambitious 24-Hour Digital Economy

 Lagos State has recorded a significant leap in digital connectivity, with the number of internet subscribers hitting one million between 2024 and 2025, according to the Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, Olatubosun Alake.
 
 
 Speaking during a ministerial press briefing in Alausa, Ikeja on Thursday, Alake said the increase in connected density was directly linked to the state’s aggressive investment in fibre infrastructure and digital programmes.
 
 
 “Due to our efforts in fibre rollout and connectivity, the number of internet subscribers increased to approximately 1 million between 2024 and 2025,” he announced.
 
 
 The Commissioner explained that the state’s MetroFibre Project, which aims to deliver 6,000km of optic fibre ducts, is central to the plan to achieve a 24-hour economy powered by reliable digital infrastructure.
 
 
 "This initiative aims to provide 6,000 kilometers of optical fiber and conduits to enhance the state’s digital accessibility," stated Alake.
 
 
 The aim is to develop a secure setting that facilitates round-the-clock economic activity, generates additional employment opportunities, boosts the gross domestic product, and ultimately strengthens the internal revenue generation within Lagos.
 
 
 In line with its Safe City program, the Lagos State Government is installing smart surveillance cameras at key points to aid electronic traffic management and enhance security oversight.
 
 
 “This project involves the deployment of intelligent video cameras in phases — I, II, and III — to improve safety and traffic compliance across the state,” he stated.
 
 
 Alake also emphasized Lagos' increasing cybersecurity capabilities, noting that the state now identifies and thwarts tens of thousands of cyber attacks each month.
 
 
 "The cybersecurity stance of Lagos State has markedly enhanced during the last twelve months. Our cybersecurity team recently managed to thwart two attempts at data exfiltration," he stated.

 Regarding human capital development, Alake introduced the Digital Leap Program, an extensive effort aimed at training 50,000 young people from Lagos between the ages of 18 and 35 in essential digital competencies like data science, programming, and digital marketing.
 
 
 “The Digital Leap is designed to create a tech-savvy, job-ready workforce,” he said. “It provides a blend of online and in-person training through strategic partnerships with tech companies and educational institutions.”
 
 
 He added: “This is part of Lagos State’s broader strategy to position itself as a leading digital hub in Africa.”
 
 
 The Commissioner also reiterated the importance of the annual Art of Technology (AOT) Lagos Conference, which brings together industry stakeholders, venture capital firms, policymakers, and startups to shape policies for a smarter Lagos.
 
 
 “AOT Lagos is a flagship event that drives technology outcomes and influences policy direction,” he said. “It reflects our commitment to fostering a strong innovation ecosystem.”
 
 
 Also highlighted was the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) and the growing importance of the LAG ID card, with over 6.46 million registration records now in the state’s database, including more than 4 million adults and over 2.4 million children.
 
 
 “The LAG ID project is central to our goal of improving governance efficiency,” Alake noted.
 
 
 “It allows for seamless integration and data sharing among government agencies, helping to enhance service delivery,” he added.
 
 
 Alake highlighted that these initiatives align with the THEMES+ Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.

 professionals rose modestly overall, with roles like Solutions Engineer (+11.3%), Game Engineer (+28.0%), and Site Reliability Engineer (+10.5%) seeing the biggest gains.
 
 
 The report, based on more than 130,000 verified data points, reflects growing demand in gaming, platform reliability, and tech sales functions.
 
 
 “2024 was yet another turbulent year for tech,” the report noted, referencing the wave of restructuring and hiring slowdowns across the region.
 
 
 But the mood has shifted heading into 2025, with optimism driven by factors such as renewed interest in AI, increased adoption of return-to-office policies, and sustained efforts around salary transparency.
 
 
 More traditional tech roles showed modest increases. Software Engineers saw a 3.3% rise in median pay, whilst Product Managers earned 3.5% more on average than the previous year. Entry-level compensation remained relatively stable, whilst senior-level salaries in these roles held strong or increased slightly.
 
 
 However, not all segments fared as well. Salaries for Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and Data Scientists dipped or stagnated. The median monthly salary for Data Engineers fell 1.5% to SGD 9,000, whilst Data Analysts experienced a 2.4% decline.
 
 
 Data Scientists, though still commanding high wages (median $10,500), saw little to no YoY growth. Analysts suggest these changes may be due to oversupply or shifts in hiring priorities away from exploratory analytics toward applied AI and product-driven roles.
 
 
 Cybersecurity, once a high-growth sector, also saw a drop in average pay. Cybersecurity Engineers reported a 4.6% YoY decline in salary, with median compensation now at $7,000.
 
 
 Junior and mid-level professionals in DevOps, QA, and infrastructure also experienced pay pressure, some seeing double-digit percentage declines.
 
 
 Even with certain weaker aspects, Singapore remains the leading technology center in terms of compensation within Asia. According to the report, numerous firms are keen to provide attractive salary packages for tough-to-recruit positions and specialized professionals, particularly in fields such as platform expansion, gaming creation, and client-oriented engineering jobs.

 Seketika, laporan sebelum peluncuran menunjukkan jika Pixel 9a bakal diperkenalkan tanggal 26 Maret 2025, namun Google menyatakan saat acara launching-nya kalau waktu rilisanya digeser menjadi bulan April.

 日経ビジネスオンラインで連載していたコラムがベースで、私がこれまで現場で試してきた“働き方の戦術”を詰め込んだ本です。


 でも、それらを書きながら、心のどこかでずっと考えていたことがあります。

 』は、そんな私の心の奥にある問いにも、静かに答えてくれました。

 これからの時代にこそ大事にしたい5つのこと
</h2>

 本の中でとくに心に残ったテーマを、私なりにかみ砕いて5つ挙げてみました。


 どれも「ちゃんとしなきゃ」って肩に力が入ってるときに、そっと手を差し伸べてくれるような言葉たちです。


 
 1. 完璧じゃなくていい、自分を取り戻す力を育てよう
 


 私自身、かつては「完璧じゃないと評価されない」と思い込んでいました。母がとても厳しかったこともあり、100点以外は受け付けないと言われていたことも大きかったと思います。高校の頃、数学で99点を取って本気で泣いたこともあります（笑）。あれから、30年以上経っても、同窓会で必ず魚にされる話題です。


 でも、キャリアを積むうちに、完璧主義は自分を苦しめるものだと気づきました。


 たとえば、GEで事業開発を担当していたとき。ある新規事業に全力で取り組んだものの、最初の試みは思うような成果が出ませんでした。そのとき、「全部うまくやろう」としていた自分を一度手放して、「何が本当に必要か」を考え直したんです。チームで対話を重ね、顧客の声を反映しながらプランを練り直した結果、大型の受注につながりました。


 『自由に働くための出世のルール』にも書きましたが、戦略的に働くには「失敗しない」よりも「立ち直る力」のほうがずっと大切。


 完璧じゃなくていい。崩れても、しなやかに立ち上がる力。


 それが、これからのリーダーに必要な強さだと感じています。


 
 2. 怖さを乗り越えるのは、勇気じゃなくて、ちょっとの好奇心かも
 


 誰だって、「未知のもの」に対しては怖い。


 私もそうです。だけど、「やってみたら案外楽しいかも？」という小さな好奇心が、怖さをちょっとだけ軽くしてくれるんですよね。


 GEで「この業界ではこうするのが当たり前」と言われていた手法に、私たちのチームはふと疑問を持ちました。「なんで？」と立ち止まり、競合の事例を調べたり、お客様に直接ヒアリングしたり。そこで見つけた“別のやり方”が、私たちの提案の強みに変わったんです。


 実はこの
 
 “当たり前を疑う
 
 ”って、私がアート思考を研究している理由でもあります。（ビジネスパーソンだけでなく、声楽家でアートを扱うからということもありますが）。


 直感とか好奇心って、戦略にもちゃんと使えるんです。


 恐れに立ち向かうのではなく、「ちょっと違う景色を見てみたいな」という気持ちが、背中を押してくれる。そんな感覚、もっと大事にしていいと思います。


 皆さんにも、最近「ちょっと気になる」「やってみたいかも」と思ったこと、ありませんか？


 
 3. リーダーって、誰かを引っぱる人じゃなくて、ちゃんと“聴ける人”
 


 ボストン・コンサルティング・グループ時代、私の頭は常に「なぜ？」を問い続ける訓練でいっぱいでした。 その文化のおかげで、物事の本質を深く掘る力はついたけれど、気づけば部下にも「もっと考えて」「ちゃんと詰めて」と、つい求めがちに。


 でもある日、「あなたはどう思う？」と何気なく聞いてみたときに、驚くほど鋭くて深い視点が返ってきたんです。 その瞬間、ああ、リーダーって「正しい答えを与える人」じゃなくて、「考えを引き出し、共に考える場をつくる人」なんだと、腑に落ちました。


 私のマネジメントの核は、いま「問いかけの力」と「聴く姿勢」です。 社員にはよく、「役員の頭の中を引き出して、自分のアイデアと掛け合わせなさい」と伝えています。 上司に気に入られることより、いい質問を投げかけることのほうが、ずっと価値があるから。


 娘にも、「答えを知ってる人より、いい質問をする人になってね」と、いつも話しています。 きっとこれからの時代、そういうリーダーが求められていくと思うから。


 
 4. 「自分らしさ」は、無理に主張しなくても、ちゃんと伝わる
 


 GE時代、あるプロジェクトで大きなミスをしてしまったとき、上司から「あなたらしさを忘れていたからだと思う」と言われたことがありました。


 その時はショックでした。でも、改めて振り返ると、「女性らしさは極力出さずに」と言われて、パンツスーツをわざわざ買ったほど、「男性と同じように」振る舞おうとしすぎて、私の強みがすっかり埋もれていたんです。


 私はもともと、物事を多面的に捉えるのが得意で、クライアントを含めたチームの空気を読んで戦略アプローチを調整する力がありました。


 でも「ロジカルに戦え」と言われすぎて、それを抑え込んでいたんですね。


 その後、「女性らしさ」を出すかどうかじゃなくて、「自分らしさ」を出す、という発想に変えました。


 日経ビジネスオンラインの連載をベースに、ディスカヴァー・トゥエンティワンから出した2冊の本も、そういう思いから書いたものです。


 武器は持っていい。でも、誰かのコピーにならなくていい。


 そんな働き方が、きっとこれからの時代のスタンダードになるはずです。


 
 5. 声を持つこと。それを使うこと。それが未来を変える一歩になる
 


 以前のTheLetterでも紹介したエピソードですが、取締役会で唯一の女性として発言するとき、今でもちょっと緊張します。


 でも私は「女性の視点から」ではなく、「顧客データでは」と言います。


 感情ではなく、事実で語る。


 そして、その中に自分の思いや信念を込める。


 違う視点を差し出すことで、組織がより強くなれると信じているからです。


 『
 What I Told My Daughter
 』にも、「声を上げること」の大切さが繰り返し語られていました。


 声を持つこと。それを使うこと。それが、
 
 小さくても確実な“変化の種”
 
 になるのです。


 どんな立場であれ、自分の意見を持ち、それを伝える。


 その繰り返しが、少しずつ社会を動かしていくのだと思います。


 この5つは、私がこれまでの仕事・人生・子育ての中で、何度も壁にぶつかりながら実感してきたものです。


 そして、娘や若い世代の女性たちにも、「がんばらなくていいよ」ではなく、「自分を信じて、自分のペースでいいから進もうね」と伝えたいメッセージでもあります。

 「正しさ」じゃなくて、「あたたかさ」を伝えていきたい
</h2>

 この本には、たしかに有名人の言葉がたくさん載っています。


 でも、そのどれもが驚くほど身近で、肩の力が抜けていて。


 「こうあるべき」ではなく、「あなたのままで大丈夫だよ」と語りかけてくれるような、あたたかい本でした。


 私はこの本を読んで、あらためて思いました。


 これからのリーダーシップに必要なのは、“正しさ”より“あたたかさ”だと。


 自分を守ることと、他人を思いやること。


 そのどちらも大切にできる言葉を、私もこれから次の世代に届けていきたいと思っています。

 TOPPANデジタルは、ライトのような強い光を当てると立体的な文字や絵が現れるホログラム「イルミグラム」のカラー版を開発し、4月から提供を開始する。


 イルミグラムは2022年6月に発売され、光を当てて浮かび上がる文字や絵は単色のみに対応していた。今回、このカラー版を開発し、複数色による特殊効果を使った潜像を実現。従来よりも強い視覚効果と対偽造性を備える。


 ホログラムは光の干渉を利用し立体的な輝きを表現する技術で、偽造の難しさから、本物の目印として偽造品・模倣品対策や真贋判定用途に広く普及している。しかし従来のホログラムでは、真贋の判定が曖昧なことや、判定に特殊な機器を必要とするものがあることなどが課題で、手軽な判定手段を備えるホログラムが求められていた。


 TOPPANデジタルは2022年6月、スマートフォンのライトのような強い光を当てると立体的な文字や絵が現れるホログラム「イルミグラム」を開発。一般的なホログラムよりも高い耐偽造性を備え、誰にでも分かり易い真贋判定効果を実現した。


 今回はイルミグラムの偽造品・模倣品対策技術をさらに向上し、単色(白)よりも表現できる潜像の種類が多く、明確な真贋判定が可能になる複数色での潜像を実現。複数色でありながら、各色は見る角度によって色の変わらない固定色とした。一般的な虹色に光るホログラムは技術的難易度が低く、比較的容易に作成可能であり、色の変わらない固定色のほうがより耐偽造性が高いという。


 他のホログラムなどとの組み合わせも可能で、パステル調の構造色を発色するホログラム「SecureColor」や、90度回転させるとネガポジ反転する「S-White」、傾けると潜像が現れる「トワイライトグラム」などと組み合わせることで、複数の確認方法が両立した製品となる。


 また、スマートフォンでIDを読み取り、正規品かどうかを確認できるサービス「ID-NEX」との連携も可能。


 偽造品・模倣品の流通を防ぐことを目的とした医薬品/化粧品/高級ブランド品/機械部品/ライセンスグッズなどの業界に向け販売し、価格は100万枚以上で単価が7～8円。

 Fasilitas ini dapat menjadi pilihan utama ketika liburan karena pencatatan merupakan aktivitas penting. Terlebih lagi, apabila lokasi yang dituju mempunyai karakteristik unik yang harus direkam.


 Tidak perlu risau lagi apabila gambar Anda terdapat banyak orang atau ada wajah orang tak dikenal yang tanpa sengaja muncul di dalam bidikan kamera Anda.

 Ketiga adalah Live Interpreter. Fitur ini sangat direkomendasikan saat Anda bepergian ke negara lain dan berinteraksi dengan orang-orang yang menggunakkan bahasa seperti Mandarin, Jepang, Korea, Prancis, dll., bukan Bahasa Indonesia.


 Fitur Live Interpreter adalah fungsi yang dapat melakukan penerjemahan bahasa secara real-time. Sebagai contoh, Anda mungkin memerlukan komunikasi dengan orang lain dalam bahasa Mandarin.


 Cukup aktifkan fungsi Live Interpreter, lalu pilih Bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa primer dan Bahasa Mandarin untuk ditranslasikan. Nanti layarnya akan dibagi jadi dua bagian: satu untuk teks asli dan satunya lagi untuk terjemahannya ke dalam Bahasa Mandarin.

 Untuk menggunakan fungsi ini, Anda dapat menyalakan opsi Profesional dalam pengaturan kamera. Setelah itu, cari dan klik kata "Log" yang terletak di sudut kanan atas layar. Jika warnanya telah berganti menjadi kuning, artinya mode tersebut sudah siap digunakan.


 Apabila fiturnya telah diaktifkan, gambar pada video yang terlihat di layar akan kelihatan monokrom atau kurang berwarna dan condong ke arah abu-abu. Ini adalah hal biasa sebab selanjutnya akan dilakukan langkah penyuntingan guna menerapkan warna sesuai pilihan Anda tersebut.


 Dengan menyalakan opsi ini, Anda pasti akan mendapat hasil foto terbaiknya. Tetapi penting untuk diingat bahwa format Log punya ukuran berkas yang lebih besar dibanding rekaman video standar.
