 The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) plans to set up 45 electric vehicle (EV) charging points in the next year as part of a plan to push for the adoption of e-mobility in the country.

 The electric utility company has installed EV charging stations at Stima Plaza as well as their main headquarters.


 Investing in infrastructure is crucial as it forms a vital part of efforts to promote e-mobility adoption in Kenya. This initiative aims to facilitate the transition by providing necessary facilities for new users.


 Siror mentioned that among the 45 new electric vehicle charging stations being installed, six will be situated at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.


 However, Kenya Power stayed silent about the locations of the remaining charging stations and the budget allocated for this initiative. Despite this, they emphasized the importance of cooperation among industry leaders to promote the uptake of the new technology.

CEDA Supports Electric 'Okadas' and Tricycles for Greener Transportation

 The Centre for Extractives and Development Africa (CEDA) is advocating for increased use of electric bicycles and tricycles in Ghana, arguing that this move could accelerate the nation’s shift towards renewable energy and simplify transportation for numerous everyday travelers.


 Electric two (E2) and three-wheelers (E3), CEDA said, could transform daily travel for thousands of Ghanaians who rely on motorcycles and tricycles for work and transport.


 Samuel Bekoe, who serves as the Executive Director of CEDA, pointed out that the nation's transportation industry plays a substantial role in increasing carbon emissions and stands as the top producer of CO2 within the country, making up 38 percent of all national CO2 emissions.


 He noted specifically that two-wheelers (such as okadas) and three-wheelers (like tricycles) have seen substantial imports and usage, notably in urban areas such as Accra and Kumasi, but they continue to be important transportation choices for numerous rural populations as well.


 He mentioned that the increasing popularity of okadas and tricycles is still contributing to higher levels of greenhouse gases, even though Ghana has made pledges through its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and energy transition (ET) plans.


 "The transportation sector continues to be crucial for achieving net-zero emissions in Ghana by 2070," Mr. Bekoe noted additionally. Shifting this sector is estimated to require approximately $550 billion—accounting for 70% of the overall expense related to the energy transition, which encompasses infrastructure development as well.


 A significant deficiency in the present system, he pointed out, is the absence of regulations and strategic planning concerning the extensive usage of okadas and tricycles, which continue to operate without much oversight.


 It was revealed that between January 2017 & December 2021, a total of 17,660 plug-in electric vehicles and 9,431 motorised electric 2 and 3-wheeled vehicles were imported into Ghana.


 Against this backdrop, the Executive Director of CEDA – who was speaking during an interview in Accra at the inception meeting and stakeholder launch of their research initiative -said CEDA’s two-year project, from 2025 to 2027, therefore explores transition pathways for electric two and three-wheelers in Ghana.


 The project will review existing research, policies and regulatory frameworks. It will also look to assess long-term prospects for local assembly, manufacturing and servicing, as well as evaluate the potential impact of E2 and E3s on employment and climate goals.


 CEDA’s work is supported by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and Climate Compatible Growth programme, a consortium of British universities.


 It is anticipated that this project will result in decreased greenhouse gases, aiding in efforts to mitigate climate change.


 Additionally, efforts aim to reinforce the regulatory structure concerning E2 and E3 class electric vehicles within the nation. This initiative seeks to enhance the overall business climate surrounding these vehicles and boost their uptake.


 The Technical Director at the Ministry of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, Cedric Dzelu—who was addressing the matter on behalf of the sector minister—mentioned that the efforts undertaken by CEDA and its collaborators are consistent with the government’s aim to formalize the okada transportation industry.


 "I'm extremely enthusiastic about the push for adopting E2 and E3 three-wheelers. Ideally, these initiatives at the policy level should support the minister's efforts to ensure that necessary measures like subsidies, grants, and everything else required to make this happen are implemented," he stated.


 Mr. Dzelu added that government welcomes the work of stakeholders such as CEDA, ensuring stakeholder inclusivity and engagement.


 He highlighted the significance of obtaining backing from stakeholders to ensure that okada and tricycle operations become more efficient, secure, and comprehensively regulated.

 When my family searched for a spring break destination in March, we explored various options such as Arizona, California, and Colorado. We hadn’t initially thought about the northeastern states. However, when Breeze announced in September that they were adding service to Washington, D.C., through Washington Dulles International Airport from Vero Beach, this shifted our consideration.

 A swift comparison of airfare prices from Orlando, Melbourne, and West Palm Beach airports, along with the significant advantages of departing from Vero Beach Regional Airport, simplified our choice.
 
 
 It was our fourth roundtrip flight with Breeze from Vero Beach since the airline launched commercial flights here in 2023. We saved thousands of dollars on this roundtrip flight with our family of five, but we didn’t realize just how inexpensive this trip would be.
 
 
 Residents of the Treasure Coast can visit Washington D.C. at a significantly lower cost than other locations when departing from Vero Beach. Additionally, numerous free museums and monuments are available. It’s important to start planning well ahead of time.

 Once we had secured the basics like our flight, rental car, and condominium, the next step was deciding which museums we were keen on visiting.

 People who have visited Washington D.C. probably know that many of its museums offer free admission. However, getting the most out of your museum trips requires some planning, such as reserving tickets—often with designated entrance times—as early as possible. This applies to places like the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, Zoo Atlanta, and the Air and Space Museum, amongst others.
 
 
 Even though entry is free, the National Archive Museum and others charge a $1 fee for making an advanced reservation online. Usually, this small expense is worthwhile.

During past trips, I found pleasure in absorbing the detailed narratives shared by local history students who led these tours. Feeling appreciative of their expertise and voluntary service, I made sure to reward them with generous tips.
 
 
 The aim of our family vacation this time was to explore the monuments along with delving into their historical background, particularly for the children's benefit. I strongly suggest borrowing bikes, as we did, to easily visit the main sites within the Mall area.

 What expenses occur in Washington, D.C.?
 </h2>
 
 Other than our lodgings, transportation cost us the most money.
 
 
 Taking advantage of the city’s Metrorail offers a budget-friendly and fairly straightforward way to get around. It links up with the airport and spares you from having to search for parking in the downtown area, where spaces can be hard to come by.
 
 
 Even though Washington D.C. is quite pedestrian-friendly, we decided to rent a vehicle since our condominium was approximately 8 miles away from downtown and we intended to visit several national parks.
 
 
 This is where parking expenses contributed significantly to our overall costs.
 
 
 Even though using public transport would have been more economical, we chose to make the most of our time at every location—especially since we had children—with direct drives to our destinations. Parking fees ranged from $20 to $30 daily per garage without in/out access, so we carefully planned visits to attractions that were clustered closely together, allowing us to park once for the entire day.
 
 
 Several locations such as the National Children’s Museum charge around $20 per person. However, we chose to focus mainly on free museums and exhibitions to keep costs down.

 Additional suggestions for exploring Washington, D.C., affordably
 </h2>
 
 When visiting D.C. affordably, planning is essential. Explore areas beyond just the National Mall.
 
 
 One standout experience for my family was visiting the free Smithsonian National Zoological Park, located approximately 4 miles (or 20 minutes) northwest of the western end of the Mall.
 
 
 There are also numerous free festivals and events available in D.C.
 
 
 We had the good fortune to visit D.C. during the Cherry Blossom Festival and the beginning of the yearly cherry blossom blooming season when numerous lush trees burst into vibrant shades of pink and white blossoms.
 
 
 One last piece of guidance from Haridopolos: Take your time during your visit.
 
 
 Allocate time to get it done correctly. There's always an errand to run," he remarked. "This is their governance. They have funded it, and it's quite a sum they've invested.

 Safety, security, and traffic management form a collaborative endeavor for one of Brazos Valley’s most thrilling weekends. These teams mention they have been coordinating efforts for several months now. Both TxDOT and TNT Security operate seamlessly throughout pre-event preparations, event day operations, and post-event procedures to ensure that attendees at Chili Fest remain happy and secure.


 For us, it’s all about ensuring people enter through the gates contentedly," Lacox added. "If we manage to keep them joyful from the road until they join the event, and ensure they enjoy their time, then send them back home satisfied, it significantly reduces many of our issues.

 TNT Security has been managing security for Chilifest attendees for nine consecutive years and mentioned that their staff continuously works on enhancing measures at every festival.


 An enhancement included giving teams the option to choose between deploying safety and security staff to streamline access to and egress from the venue. To aid in reducing traffic congestion, TXDoT activated Highway 60, which was still under construction, over the weekend.


 "The upcoming new road being developed by TxDOT along with their contractors will benefit our community. They have collaborated effectively for this project, allowing us to launch an additional 1.9-mile stretch of fresh roadway. This extension means we can reroute all Chilly Fest traffic through these newly accessible roads," he clarified.


 Authorities additionally mentioned that they anticipate the open road will benefit residents not intending to participate in the celebrations.


 "We will permit them to utilize this for guiding their traffic flow. This means that those individuals solely aiming to travel via FM 60 won’t have to remain stuck in that queue," stated James Kreamer, an area engineer at TxDOT.

 El tren se encarga del traslado de pasajeros, aunque sus operaciones son principalmente para el transporte de mercancías. APM Terminals informó que en 2024 obtuvo ingresos por la suma de 77 millones de dólares.


 El ferrocarril, construido originalmente en 1855, estuvo por muchas décadas bajo el dominio estadounidense hasta que fue traspasado al control panameño en 1979.  Di berbagai terminal keberangkatan pelanggan di Daop 6 Yogyakarta, suasana tetap nampak padat pada Senin, 31 Maret 2025. Pada hari pertama Idul Fitri, Stasiun ini mengirimkan 13.655 penumpang, serta menerima kembali jumlah yang lebih besar yaitu 23.295 orang.

 Agar proses perjalanan pulang kampung lebih lancar, KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta menyediakan satu kereta ekstra dengan rute Yogyakarta-Gambir (KA 10121). Kereta ini dimulai operasinya pada tanggal 30 Maret 2025, dengan keberangkatan pertama di jam 00:25 Waktu Indonesia Bagian Barat dari Stasiun Yogyakarta. KA 10121 ini akan terus melayani sampai 13 April 2025. Penyediaan kereta tambahan lebaran tersebut pasti meningkatkan jumlah kursi untuk musim Lebaran dari Daop 6 Yogyakarta sehingga dapat memenuhi permintaan calon pemudik yang belum berhasil mendapat tempat duduk dalam gelombang mudik maupun baliknya.


 Untuk pengawasan arus balik, periode puncak diprediksikan jatuh pada hari Minggu, tanggal 6 April 2025 dengan total 23.825 karcid sudah laku terjual. Namun perlu dicatat bahwa angka tersebut dapat berubah mengingat proses pembelian tiket belum berakhir.

 Shantanu Roy, CMD of BEML Ltd, officially unveiled the vehicle with G Ramamohana Rao, Director of VRDE, at his side, along with BEML’s functional directors and high-ranking officials from both companies present for the occasion.
 
 
 The HMV 12x12 is designed to handle severe landscapes and tough weather situations, thus serving as an essential resource for military missions. Equipped with a BSIII-compatible motor and boasting a 7-speed Allison Automatic Transmission, this vehicle can support up to a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 65 tons.

This is fortunate since the remainder of the vehicle’s interior doesn't quite measure up to the same standard.


 What caught my attention wasn't the design—it’s quite boxy, but that style is really popular these days. The gearshift and central control panel also follow common patterns. However, I found myself puzzled by some of the other choices they made.


 For instance, why is the

 Why is the bezel on this almost high-end Pathfinder so large? What’s with all the areas covered in glossy black plastic? Why doesn’t the dashboard have any vibrant color options aside from the orange stitching? Why does the steering wheel look exactly like the one in the previous model?

 These elements of the design do not suggest a price tag close to $50,000 for the vehicle.


 While it's not entirely without issues, some minor details are quite nice. For instance, there’s a slender yet roomy compartment designed for holding your phone on the passenger-side dashboard, a flip-down cargo-area cover, concealed storage beneath the central console, and an abundance of tactile buttons. Of course, these buttons may have a somewhat inexpensive feel to them.
 However, they're superior to having no buttons whatsoever.

 The infotainment system is adequate but lacks notable innovation or excitement. It responds promptly to touch commands, and the interface organizes everything in a logical manner.


 All things considered, the remaining part of the Pathfinder cabin is both practical and cozy. The seating in the second and third rows offers good support with ample cushioning, avoiding any uncomfortable firmness.
